I was in a wedding here and went with the bride several times and she and the groom made arrangements over the course of several months. The facility is pricy, but it is beautiful inside and out. The wedding that I was a part of took place in May, in the garden area. They had a back up plan for rain and had a pretty good list of preferred vendors. The business is family owned. The bride went through 2 of the site's wedding planners who quit (I guess) with no notice and ended up with the owner's daughter. She was professional and accommodating on the day of the wedding, but since she wasn't who they started with, there was a good amount of catch up that had to be done. Overall, a beautiful location tucked away. Pricey, good food options, not much rehearsal time will be given on-site. read more

I am utterly shocked that this place doesn't have a single review on Yelp. My cousin recently got married here and out of convenience held the rehearsal dinner here as well. I fully expected this to be cheesy, tacky, wacky, and all that (sorry cuz) but alas, I was wrong and pleasantly surprised. It's manufactured charm, don't get me wrong, but it's a great location if you're having a large (or very large) wedding, particularly if you plan on having it outdoors in the heat and you need something south of the city. While not really a manor by the strictest terms (surely no late medieval fortified country homes are hiding out in Peachtree City), this certainly fits the square footage and "show" implied by the name. After passing teh slightly awkward entrance (a road down the middle of a small retail center) you enter the grounds and visually would never know if blindfolded on the way in. There are two main banquet rooms at Glendalough: the Avondale and Wicklow rooms. The rehearsal was in the Avondale room, the smaller of the two, which I would guess was about 80 guests total. I would surmise that this room could comfortably hold double that. The Wicklow room was much much bigger, with a side room for buffet and a dance floor offset from the main hall. I think the wedding had around 25 tables and everyone got around pretty easily. Food on both occasions was pretty good. Not incredible, but wedding food rarely is (ours was though - see my Avante Catering review - hint hint). At first i thought it was strange that we had to leave the hall and walk to a separate bar space (complete with wooden tavern accents no less), but honestly after a while i kind of thought it was cool, and having draft beer instead of bottles was a nice touch. This particular wedding was limited to beer, wine, and sangria with passed champagne - in my opinion completely sufficient - but the bar was stocked with liquor so it's clear that you can add a full bar if you so desire. But you know what they say about opinions... (They're awesome?) The grounds were very pretty, well maintained, and spacious enough for a large wedding. Again, the look is of a freshly planted landscape and not a mature, long-kept space, but still quite nice. It was hot outside as we sat during the wedding but the trellis and outdoor fans (mounted above) definitely kept "hot" from become full blown "oppressive". Glendalough isn't for everyone. But few places are. I have no idea what was spent or why Glendalough was chosen, but from all observations the wedding went as planned, everyone had a good time, and I'm guessing the bride was more than satisfied with her big day. read more

This place is lovely but I've now been part of 10 or 11 weddings there and all of them ended 1-3 hours before their contracted time--the in-house DJ will pack up and leave early and several occasions, their coordinator pushed all the guests outside way early to get the couple to do their exit and leave. Brides are paying by the hour and are literally paying to stay until the end of their agreed-upon time. It is dishonest and shady to charge for 8 hours but kick everybody out after 5 or 6 hours. read more

My daughter was married at this beautiful venue last Saturday. A year ago I was very skeptical about the place because my daughter planned the wedding as if she had no budget. However, after visiting during wedding rehearsal I realized how beautiful the place was. The reception area was huge and had the look of a Shakespearean themed castle. The room looked like it could hold at least 400 people comfortably. They had a nice sized stage for a dj or band, a huge dance floor and several door entrances from the outside. The food serving area was in a convenient, tucked away part of the reception room. The wedding planning staff was incredible. They worked extremely hard at making my daughter's big day a super success. The wedding planning staff were extremely organized and detailed. They covered EVERY detail of the wedding and executed it perfectly! The actual wedding area was beyond gorgeous. From flowing fountains to beautiful gardens to an immaculate landscape; the outside grounds was spectacular. The day of the wedding was almost perfect. Everything ran smoothly and on time until we got s little rain. However, the staff handled the weather mishap perfectly. They wiped down the chairs and reset everyone's position and the wedding ran smoothly once again. I highly recommend this venue to any couple getting married in the Atlanta area. This is the wife of Pauly writing this review for a reason! Beautiful scenery and location both inside and out. Food was good, enough portions, bartenders and staff most courteous. Bathrooms were clean and the event rooms themselves were beautiful. Here's my issue, as someone who has worked in the social event industry for 22 years in sales, marketing and event planning for a large successful full event production company, I was appalled by the entertainment. Everyone knows that entertainment makes or breaks your party! After a beautiful cocktail hour in the lobby we entered the main room, there was no Music playing, everybody just kind of wandered around signed a few things that were there for the bride and groom and then found their seat. There was no energy, in fact we must have sat for more then 30 minutes before the DJ/MC (one person) greeted everyone. Come to find out there was a party across the hall from us and he was there. In other words there was one guy who was the entertainment for 2 parties that were overlapping for at least the first two hours. When he finally came and greeted the guests he let us know some information about the location and then to sit patiently as dinner was going to be served shortly (a good 44 min later, so more sitting and finally turned on background music) I could go on and on about how it was only until the last hour of the party that anyone ever danced. During the wedding after the introductions and the first dance we should've been invited up onto the dance floor and got the party started while we waited for salad and dinner to be served. I felt the Dj was dressed unprofessionally and although he seemed friendly and said hello I am shocked that a venue as beautiful as theirs has this going on. Because I was a guest I do not know the ins and outs of how it works when booking this venue however they should always have a few DJs on back up. The music choice was awful he had everyone on the dance floor finally and then killed it by playing Gangam style. My suggestion would be if this venue allows, bring your own entertainment!!! read more

Glendalough Manor double booked a room that was supposedly caused by a technical glitch. However, they changed my contract before notifying me to see what was acceptable to me. Instead, I received an email indicating my contract has been modified and after speaking with them about my concerns, they quickly refund my $. They were neither remorseful nor, attempted to save me as a customer. read more

We had our wedding at Glendalough Manor on November 1st and I'm still reeling from the fabulousness of it all! Glendalough Manor in full wedding swing is simply magical! I started my venue search early in 2014. Knowing my wedding would be in the fall I had one must have; the reception must have a fireplace. After a few false starts I found Glendalough through a basic Google search and took a drive to Tryone to see it in person. I think I knew it would be the place the second I drove up but I had to see more. I scheduled a tour for the next day and met Jessica. She was kind, did not pressure me to make any decisions, and let me look around every corner. She patiently answered all my questions, and follow up questions, and more follow up questions until I was satisfied. After talking it over with my then fiancé and taking him to see it for himself we decided to sign the contract. That is when I met Pennie. Her direct, straight forward and professional approach to the logistics let me know that my wedding day would be handled with the care and seriousness that it deserved. As the year went on we had the opportunity to meet many of their preferred vendors on one scheduled day, super convenient, and ultimately hired a few of them. After seeing them in action I know that we could not have gone wrong with any vendors we chose through their preferred vendor program. They have an easy to use web-based portal that allows even the most micromanaging bride to see every detail and dollar of her wedding unfold while making monthly payments to the venue and preferred vendors. The chance to make monthly payments like this made it possible for us to pay for probably 95% of our wedding in cash. I would do that again in a heartbeat. When the wedding was about 30 days away we had a meeting to discuss all the details of the wedding day and a final meeting 3 days before the wedding. On the wedding day, I was a ball of nerves. I arrived with my bridal to get ready in their large dressing room and Pennie swopped in with drinks in hand, a cheery attitude and let me know everything would be OK. And it was, more than OK. Even though I had my hands on most every detail of the day I was even shocked at the sheer beauty of it all once it came together. Walking out to the ceremony I noticed the perfectly manicured gardens, music playing through the high quality sound system and a ceremony seating arrangement that my guest later told me felt intimate and made them feel close to me and my husband. After the ceremony a smiling staff member waited with drinks and appetizers and we began pictures. As my husband and I prepared to enter the ceremony I couldn't wait to see it, full of our friends and family and the beautiful décor. When they opened the doors and we walked in I let out a scream! The décor, the chandeliers, the lights of the wall sconces, the flicker of the fireplace, the beat of the music, I could not hold in my JOY! We went on to have a fun, festive, and nearly perfect reception. We stayed until they pushed us out the front door late into the night. We enjoyed every second of it and would do it there all over again. That is the best way I can describe what it is like to have your wedding at Glendalough Manor, wedding magic. Was very excited to have my wedding here. When you call the main number, no one ever answers the phone. The first contact person started of being very excited to help us, but because she was busy, she told us to email her questions and she didn't have time to talk to us on the phone. When she went on vacation, she put us in contact with one of the owners who told us the same thing, she was too busy to talk to us and for us to email us her questions. When we emailed her our questions, she only answered one of them and did not actually answer our questions. We decided to see if the original contact person would contact us upon returning from her vacation. It has been about one month and no one from Glendalough has bothered to contact us. I believe they are only interested in working with people who are ready to pay up front. I will never recommend them to anyone because they lack tremendously in their customer service skills and proper communication. read more

Attended my cousins wedding here and I thought the staff did a fabulous job. The venue is perfect for an outdoor wedding and the ballroom just right for a reception. Everyone was courteous and attentive to the needs of the wedding party. The one improvement I would suggest is the DJ's sound system. My son's wedding was this past Friday at Glendalough Manor. Nicole, Jaylyn, and Penny were absolutely wonderful and involved every step of the way for both Adam & Meghan. In addition to the wedding ceremony and reception dinner, we also hosted the rehearsal dinner. We brought in festive string lights and pinatas and various additional flower arrangements for a fun Mexican Theme rehearsal. Totally cute!!! Chef was open & very receptive to our recipes. The landscaping on grounds is absolutely beautiful. Much thought and detailed planning goes into their designs to make all look "seasonally effortless". I have recommended Glendalough Manor to many friends & will happily continue to do so. read more

I had a great experience with planning my wedding here- the staff was on point and really helped guide me through the wedding planning process. The ceremony was absolutely perfect. There are two negatives from my experience...one the bar is set up down the hall from the ballroom which requires guests to leave the reception to get a beverage. Two, My BIGGEST issue is that I am still waiting on my "rough" video from the reception, which was included in the price. They include a "rough" video from their cameras set up around the reception ballroom. They never gave us the video. From the time I set foot on the property at glendalough I knew it was exactly where I wanted to get married. Me and my fiancé were amazed at the gardens and the ballrooms at glendalough. But what sold it for us was how all inclusive it was. The wedding coordinators, Pennie and Jena, make sure every detail of your special day is planned out and runs smooth. I planned my wedding while in anesthesia school in Florida and I thought that being so far from the venue would present problems with planning but glendalough handled everything and I just had to show up for the 30 day meeting and the vendor day. Vendor day was great for me because since I didn't live in Georgia, I was able to come and book all my vendors in one day. I love that glendalough does not require you to use their vendors but they give you a list of vendors that they recommend and after meeting with most of them I feel that they all are very affordable. Our wedding was a wedding out of a fairytale book. Pennie went above and beyond to ensure that our day went smooth. Her assistants also were amazing and helped so much. I was very excited that my mom didn't have to worry about decorating or setting up for the wedding but instead she could get ready and help me get ready in the bridal suite while glendalough did the rest. I am very OCD when it comes to planning and details and I hate delegating to anyone because I want to make sure it gets done right but as soon as I met Pennie I knew that I could tell her anything I wanted and she would make it happen and I didn't have to worry. I got married here back in 2012 and honestly if I could do it all over again I wouldn't choose Glendalough Manor. Although the venue looks beautiful in pictures this is a family owned/managed business and thus you have to deal with the things that go along with that. When you pay over $12k for a wedding in a matter of 3 months you think that you should get 5star service when we did not. We actually will be redoing our wedding next year at another facility in hopes of getting the wedding we deserved. They somehow got my original review removed with many of the other negative ones that used to be on here but trust my words when I say this. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. Pros-Venue is beautiful and well kept. Location is very private and there's plenty of parking. There is an on-site bridal suite, outdoor ceremony location & large ballrooms. They have vendors come and meet with you on site prior to your event. The bridal suite is spacious with tons of windows & room for the girls to get ready. Cons-Customer Service. The owner's daughter Jenna is about the rudest person ever. I have several emails from her that were less that kind after they broke my cake topper by mistake never told me I had to let them know it was damaged (they had to replace it), they turned one of my good friends away from the reception although his name was on the list and they never asked the go-to person if this person was an approved guest, the event coordinator cut the music off 1.5 hours before the end of the paid reception time saying that guests were leaving. Doesn't matter we had at least 40 guests still in the room and we paid for the entire time so we should've had that time to spend with them. They never brought down the bubbles to the ceremony site so i still have them in my garage years later. They're also overpriced when you do a price comparison with hotels/event facilities in the Metro ATL area. Maybe by now they have changed the way they do business but I have no desire to recommend them to anyone based on how we felt the day before & the day of our wedding. ***BTW I was threatened to be sued for writing this post but I'm risking that just to let you all potential brides & grooms know about our experience it may not be yours but it really left a horrible impression on the venue & how they did business*** read more

I watched this place get built many years ago when I lived in Peachtree City and finally got to attend a wedding there this past weekend. It was an absolutely gorgeous place. It is a very "out of the box" wedding experience, especially with the timing of things: such as wedding begins at X time and must end by X time, no matter what. But we had a lovely time and I think the bride and groom were very very happy with what they chose to do. My only complaint is that this venue does not have high chairs? When we asked about one, we were told "we are not a restaurant?!" I find that ridiculously odd because weddings are all about family and families have children of all ages. Often children are even part of wedding ceremonies! So how they do not have a few high chairs/booster seats to provide to guests is beyond me. read more

My son was married here on 10/22/11. Glendalough Manor was a breathtaking venue for both the ceremony and the reception. They were married at the 7:00 pm service. Pastor Grant Cole was wonderful, the sun was setting, the lighting in the gardens and grounds were perfect. I was worried about the gardens in the fall but the Glendalough landscaping with fall flowers were stunning. The guests were greeted to a full premium bar and appetizers. They even brought in Oktoberfest beer. No detail was left unturned. The professional and kindness shown by Gary, Pennie, Jennifer, Tiffany, Holly, Jules, and their entire wait staff and bar staff was impeccable! The food was so amazing. We also had the rehearsal dinner there and Pennie made sure I didn't have to think about anything. Jennifer is a wonderful planner, Gary the owner greeted us with open arms over the course of the year whenever we would visit. It is a geniune family run business and they do great work!! The guests all raved about the food, ceremony, and the dancing! I would highly recommend Glendalough Manor to anyone! read more

I've photographed two weddings & a prom at Glendalough as well as attended a couple weddings. From a photographer's perspective, it's a pretty venue BUT in terms of actually working there, they are very controlling about when and where you can take photos, and they double-book whenever possible so if you are with the earlier wedding, they will rush you through everything and kick the bride out of the bridal suite to get it ready for the next one--NOT cool. It is nice that they do things like having ice waters available for the wedding party and a place to cool down before and after the ceremony, but it is still very stressful for the bridal party, even more so since they do not have adequate parking for more than one wedding at a time (so when they DO kick your group out, they will have a bit of a walk ahead of them to put their things away). My biggest complaint though? You cannot pick a DJ from outside their venue--it HAS to be their in-house guy and their sound system is very screechy and full of feedback. After being at several different events there? NOT IMPRESSED with the music. At the prom I photographed, the DJ they provided played extremely vile, un-edited versions of hardcore rap and whenever the students would complain (which was often), he would switch to the chicken-dance or Justin Bieber or something teeny-boppy that was just plain annoying. A lot of the students were upset, didn't get to dance much because of the crappy music he was playing, he wouldn't take any requests from the kids, and to me, it seemed like he was mocking them whenever they complained (by playing idiotic, childish songs in response) and eventually the school principal had to go have a chat with him. Proms may not be everybody's favorite thing to host, but those kids pay a LOT of money to get dressed up and rent the venue and they deserve to have a nice time just like a bride would. At the weddings I've photographed or attended, the DJs have been pretty good about keeping the party going, but from what I've seen, they do NOT play slow songs and as with the prom, I have never seen any of the DJs take requests of any sort, except from the bride and groom. I guess when you have built-in job security, you can do whatever you want. It is a very pricey venue when you consider that your group will get rushed around, may not get all the photos they want, and you can't pick your own DJ. If none of those things matter to you, then go for it, because at least your photos will be pretty and everything will be in one place. read more

We found this beautiful place was SUPERB in their atmosphere, service, food and were wonderful to my daughter and her wedding party and to our guests. They are a professional staff and the owner and his family are very, very nice. The food was fabulous and we have been to many weddings where the food was definitely "wedding" food. The rehearsal dinner was great and the wedding day we got nothing but compliments on the food and the professional staff. My daughter and her attendants were treated like royalty. So I don't know what the complaints mentioned above are all about because we had NO issues with the venue, staff, food, etc. We got what we paid for....PERFECTION!!! Thank you to every one of them. Oh and our coordinator was absolutely terrific and so was the lady who directed the wedding party for the c eremony. My daughter's wedding was last November and the fall colors were perfect. The only complaint and it had nothing to do with Glendalough was the 80 degree temp for a November wedding! lol We and our guests had so much fun. We got nothing but "wow's" on this beautiful venue. About it being overpriced...No way! Been to many venues in Atlanta and they were way overpriced for what they had to offer and no comparison to Glendalough! No phonies at Glendalough Manor! read more
