WARNING
Knowing, you can attend any of the establishments in Glenelg, why would you want to be in a place like this?
As a person with disabilities I can never return, never have I been treated so poorly by another establishment in ten years. I have a lawful face covering exemption (the exemption had been shown) and was threatened with violence by a person in the bar. After I reported the alleged incident to security, that individual who was friends with the owner was allowed to continue their disruptive behaviour and I was asked to leave.
Additionally, throughout the day from 14:00, I witnessed the darker security guards' and a similar person approach drunken women and coerce them into conversations and even ask them for photos and phone numbers. Not only is this out of the job description of security and management. It is creepy, ill, and disgusting behaviour. For parents this behaviour is seriously concerning and troublesome.
Moreover, you can attend any of the many establishments in Glenelg but after reading about the incidents and the one star reviews of this establishment, why would you want to be in a place like this?
In my personal experience I would recommend you seek caution when allowing family, friends, daughters and sons to be in this environment. At the end of the day people can do whatever they please and those who want to may continue to visit the Jetty Bar, but as of today 31/10/21.
I won't attend this bar until the management have undergone further training, the security guards have been changed and the laws, regarding treatment of persons with a disability become aligned with the; Disability Discrimination Act, 1992 and the Liquor Licensing Act 1997 is followed and implemented compliantly.
However, You must ask yourself what your morals and ethics are if you hangout or work in a place that is condoning disruptive, violent, and discriminative behaviour towards marginalised or vulnerable populations of people. Including those who come to an establishment for safe and responsible service of alcohol and then become vulnerable using a depressant drug, while hanging out with friends or family.
In a turbulent time when small businesses are suffering losses it must only be a matter of time before this place begins to crumble. It may take years before potential profits of loss are realized and management enact better safety and practice policies regarding mistreatment of people and proper training of security.
Although time may not be on my side, I would imagine just as the Nike store eventually closed down in Marion Shopping Centre a similar fate may occur. Although the building may withstand the test of time the people running this business will not and the costs of ownership will only increase and as those costs increase so will the price of the food and drinks.
Then you really must ask yourself... is it worth the $$? Could you get better service or entertainment from organisations such as the Terra & Sol, Marina Sunset Bar, Pier Restaurants, Moseley or Grand Bar/Hotel and any other business offering food and entertainment in Glenelg. Without having to be fearful?
Furthermore, change your logo and rebrand as many times as you would like, the invoice may not come today but god eventually catches up with everyone.
Thus, you can attend any of the many establishments in Glenelg but after reading about the experience and the one star reviews of this establishment, why would you come here?
Because it apparently had undergone a change of owners and was boasting a new menu with a ""cool/classy" environment.
Don't make the same assumptions I did, try it out for yourself, everyone's experience may vary. I can only write about what happened to me and what I observed. I'm not going to write anything else as the appropriate information and further details have been passed over to other associations.
