Staff are friendly and helpful. Owen in the pokies was friendly and willing to help where and when he could. Jess was helpful when I didn't have the right app on my phone for the pub+ discounts. Avoid if you need gluten free food. There is almost nothing on the menu apart from a Greek salad and 'GFO' involves weird but definitely not wonderful substitutions. Eg. beer battered fish and chips, which does not include battered fish or chips. Sorry we bothered. Went with the salmon and curry sauce that said 'pickled vegetables'... expected kimchi or similar; got dill pickles on top of a laksa-style sauce. No thanks. One star for the nice skin on the salmon and one star for the nice but not useful barperson. read more

The food everytime I've gone here has been delicious. The only thing I haven't liked is the differently to find outdoor seating but this is really to be expected since it's a popular beach front pub. Friday nights here are also really good, having a DJ and dance floor upstairs. read more

This has to be one of the worst pubs in Adelaide. Let's set aside the fact it's set in a picturesque location on the beach. Drinks are drastically over priced. The head chef here is utterly hopeless. The food is awful, worst pub food in Adelaide, yet it's priced at the upper end of the market, I've paid similar in upmarket restaurants. Recently I arrived at 9:04pm on a Saturday evening and I was told rudely but a bimbo bar staff girl that the kitchen was closed, despite the staff still all being in there preparing orders from minutes earlier. I sat with my girlfriend drinking our $9 glass of ciders watching people have their meals delivered for the next 20 minutes. When I went to ask again if they would even do a bowl of chips, she said, the staff were tired from working a long shift. Clearly a very badly managed venue, that has a bad head chef who can't manage rosters, kitchen and has absolutely NO cooking skills beyond dunking slop in a deep frier. Recommend stay a away and look towards Brighton or Glenelg for a good drink or meal on the beach. read more

Well, an afternoon at the beach turned into dinner across the road at the Seacliff Beach Hotel and gee, that was a good move. What a lovely way to end the day. My tummy is STILL hating me for finishing the Beach Burger I just HAD to eat all off, about 3 hours ago! Was I really expected to turn down a burger with the lot? And by 'lot' I really mean LOT! Beef pattie, bacon, egg, beetroot, pineapple, cheese, onion, tomato and lettuce all came out with the hope that the skewer pierced through it would keep it all together. I can't say that I would have enticed people into the place as I devoured the burger that felt like it was the same size as my head. There is absolutely NO WAY to eat this burger without looking like you are doing your best impersonation of the toothbrush character with the flip-top head. It was GREAT! Another BIG plus for me was that the children's meal came with a small salad. When I say small, it really is small; one wedge of tomato, one slice of cucumber, four matchstick sized carrot sticks and a massive amount of assorted lettuce leaves, but at least there was some salad. It really urks me (yes, urks is a word...it is now!) when children's meals are all fried brown food!!! The service was great. We had a table that was at the front of the building so we watched the sun set over the water. Upstairs looked like a more popular area for the 'drinkers' to hang out but downstairs was more 'family friendly'. Would not hesitate for a moment to go back here again. read more

I've been here a couple of times with an old friend, but he didn't particularly like this pub namely because his Dad used to drink here all the time (there is something about being a University Student that suggests that you can't drink at the same pub as your Dad). Anyway, that was ages ago, and since I have come back to Adelaide for a couple of weeks I decided to go and check out some places that I hadn't been to for a while, and this is one of them. Basically it is a beachfront hotel, so you can expect all of the beach goers to swarm in here after a good swim, though not being near the main part of Brighton Beach it doesn't get as crowded as the Esplanade. It's a nice little place, with outdoor areas where you can look over the beach, and they also have this cool wall where kids can draw on it in chalk. Not bad, and would no doubt come back here. read more

This place is my local and I have been going regularly since I was 18. Location wise this place is 5 star. I love sitting on the balcony watching the sunset, but be sure to get there early to get a spot. I find the food is a bit hit and miss. It has it's ups and downs and I guess that is based on the chef that cooks for you. There is a new menu, which I recently had the beef burger from. The menu states it comes on brioche however it came out on a Turkish bread of some sort leaving me quite disappointed. I really like this pub because of its location with views to the beach through the palm trees, adds a tropical feel. Each time we've eaten here, whether with family or friends we've sat on the upstairs balcony to take in the view. Also, come to think of it we've only ever been here during the summer. Food wise I haven't had a bad meal yet, going with the salt and pepper squid or steak has always been a winner. Can't say the same for the pokies though but I am the last of the big spenders $5 being about the limit. On one previous occasion I remember my hubby and I were on the balcony upstairs and started to eat our dinner when some bogan lit up a smoke, obviously couldn't read the No Smoking signs along the wall. I love the beach - my girlfriend and I regularly make the trek from Glenelg to Seacliff and often end up at the Seacliff Beach Hotel to steal our favorite spot on the balcony to gab away over a drink, meal or cake and coffee. The best time of the day is sunset so we can bask in the rays in summer or curl up by the open fire in winter. The food is pretty awesome too, the daily specials is priced well and the coffee and cake deal is too good to refuse! read more

Went here with the work crowd for our xmas lunch - not a place I would have chosen to eat as the menu offers zip in the way of vegan / low gluten food or anything even vegetarian that isn't loaded with unrefined flour and suspect (probably non veg) cheese.....thought I would chance it and rung ahead of time to have a chat to the chef about what I needed to eat. The discussion sounded positive - she agreed to make me a vermicelli noodle / asian veg type salad with a bit of a kick and some nuts for protein. Well....ordered and explained re speaking to the chef (they went to check) and charged me for a "Bang bang chicken salad" without the chicken. Nothing knocked of the price which was steep I thought at nearly $21. It was actually more like the kangaroo salad as that had vermicelli but I won't split hairs and that was probably more anyway!! When it finally came (they were not busy and the wait was probably at least 40 minutes) it was very disappointing. NO protien in sight a watery dressing on the side that I don't think a chilli even walked past and a modest bowl of vermicelli with a few token veg. Lucky I came prepared with some of my homemade curried baked tofu to spice it up. Was still hungry after eating and had to go home to have more food. My colleagues were more impressed with their food (of the meaty / seafood variety)....not entirely surprised since their meals were heavy on protein and fat and bloody enormous and they came with actual salad and chips which most of them left!! And most of their meals COST less than mine (even though I am sure mine cost about $2 or less to make!!). Sure the view is lovely but I can sit on the bench across the street with my packed lunch and enjoy it for nothing. Next time they have it there I will be ordering a coffee at most (like my other vego colleague decided to) and just enjoying the view and the company. read more

I think the Seacliff deserves 3 - 3 1/2 stars, but I've given it a 4 as some of the other reviews are overly harsh (if the kitchen closes at 9pm, you can't give them one star because they said no when you tried to order food after 9). The food at the seacliff is nice, not worth writing home about, but definitely good. Going back a few years ago it was shocking, but it's all good now. They do numerous specials, our favourite is two schnitzels and a jug of beer for $30 on a Thursday. The schnitzels are always tasty, I have noticed though that the mushroom sauce tastes a lot better on the other nights (maybe they use cheaper ingredients on schnitty-night). Either way it's a nice pub, with a good view, decent live music (on certain nights) and good food. read more

My partner and I used to go here nearly every week when we lived within walking distance ... the food was good, the view was lovely, and you were always sure to get a table. We don't come here as often now ... and that's not just because it is no longer walking distance from our house. The management has changed recently, and the meals are very hit or miss. Last night was definitely a miss ... salt & pepper squid and chips oily and bland, and my partner's fish and chips the same - bleurgh. The time before, we sat on a table without a reserve sign, and were told halfway through our meal that we had to leave within the next 3/4 hour because the table was reserved ... ?? Seems that the quality has gone down, but the popularity has gone up - bookings are essential nowadays. Anyway ... apart from all this, the Seacliff still do a good daggy schnitzel, and have a good wine list. We will probably return ... but we will be booking first (to avoid getting kicked off a table), and will be hoping for a 'hit' night rather than a 'miss' ;) read more

This is the worst pub food I ever had. We had barramundi and snapper special. Omg, strong fishy smell when the dishes came to us. I tried it as I was really hungry. Super over cooked, super dry. Even asparagus were slightly burn. Potato salad with tasteless creamy sauce. It was so horrible. Luckily we were about to return the food. We had T-bone steak and lamb pizza instead. Pizza was ok, not much flavour to it, but eatable. T-bone was supermarket quality and it was slightly over cooked. The chips were as soft as, didn't even touched it. Last, our "value" desert- tri-plater for 5 bucks. 3 weird looking ?cake with sweet cream in middle. Taste like fat and sugar mix, only thing good was that half slide of fresh strawberry. 2 bites, we done. This pub was very busy with families and friends, dinner or beer by the sea. Can't understand why. Will never go back again. Disappointed. read more

I have been here a few times. The amazing location and the fact it is the end point of our regular bike ride makes it the equivalent to a kebab shop at 4am after 28 drinks. It always SEEMS like a good idea. However it rarely is. I'm a vego (yes those annoying folks) which are really under catered for here. I usually get chips and a salad - what ever it's just a pub it's not like I had expectations or anything.... Well so I though. That was until we turned up at 9pm on a saturday night (It was over 40 degrees and we road late) well we parked our bikes and went to order. "Sorry, kitchens closed" whined some girl. What? At 4minutes past 9 on a saturday in summer? Are you kidding? Anyway, we sat and had an overpriced drink while watching food emerge for the next 40 minutes getting more and more shitty. Asked again- not even a bowl of chips was forth coming. I was a chef in a past life and NEVER would an establishment I worked at turn a customer away like that. Just a bunch of wankers. Seriously. The Seacliff Hotel is quintessentially an Aussie type pub. Yes I did use the term Aussie. Got all the stuff that a pub should have, bar...check, alcohol...check, people...check. The hotel gets your shorts and short wearing crowd but this is alright because it makes you feel comfortable and you know most have gone their to catch up with friends. It's a group type pub also, three or more is the usual way to go. They will fill your ears with live music Friday, Saturday and Sunday and with all the TVs plastered around the joint. Eating was going to be a challenge for the table we chose was grossly undersized for the table we were sitting at. As the noneater of the table this amused me greatly. West End was on special, $5 pints And I had myself a 500ml Kopparberg cider with elderberry and lime. This was a treat for me being one of the many cider bandwagon jumping persons. Though not my normal crowd or pub you are bound to enjoy it because it has all those things I mentioned at the start that make any occasion bare able. read more

Well lets start with the best thing about the Seacliff Hotel..... The view from the balcony at sunset!! On a summers day there is probably no better place to watch the sunset with your fave pint or glass of wine! The Hotel can get extremely busy at the weekends, pretty much must of the day, food bookings at the weekend are recommended. The evening usually have a band and/or DJ to entertain the all ages public. The food is good, usually standard pub fare with a couple of decent specials on. Never had a bad meal here!! read more

I've been here a few times over the last few years and normally the food is okay. However the new menu we ate from this morning for breakfast was one of the very few meals I have not enjoyed eating. The $10 Eggs Benedict was on a soggy English Muffin that wasn't even remotely toasted. Its hollandaise sauce was bland and not at all tangy. At least the poached eggs were leaky.. Potato hashes were chewy and tasteless. I decided to add halloumi but it was plasticy and had no lemon to accompany it. Also had the Ham, cheese and tomato croissant but it was over baked and too crispy. Plus they also decided to add powdered sugar on top????? They also just buy $4 cartons of juice from the supermarket and sell that as their juice instead of making their own. Honestly disappointed with the food. The Seacliff, sadly, has slipped in recent years. What was once a favourite local haunt for a beer, game of pool and a pub meal, has become a poorly-serviced shadow of its former self with some downright slap-dash excuses for meals at increasingly ridiculous costs. I went for a beer and decided to lunch today, deciding to try the Seafood Trio, which was clearly dodgy because I lost the meal not long after arriving home and was ill the entire evening. Subsequent spew session notwithstanding, the meal was not impressive. A few strips of salt and pepper squid, a few prawns and a diminutive garfish fillet, handful of chips and the tiniest garnish pretending to be a salad set me back $27. True, you don't get much these days for that amount of money, but with any pub meal you expect decent value for money, even reasonable presentation, and for the food to not make you hurl. One on-tap beer each for my friend and I set me back around $18. That's over $70 for our measly meals and a pint each. Yeah. Seacliff of old? I miss you. read more

The lady who served me at the bar looked like she rather be anywhere else but there. She was rude and blunt, and not helpful at all when I asked for a wine selection. She sighed and didn't give me any suggestions. The food was okay but we did have to wait a bit for it to come out. I understand it was a busy Summer night though. I also rang earlier on in the day to book a table outside so we could see the sunsetting, which they said that is fine, but when we arrived, we were placed right at the back of the restaurant in the back corner. This beach side hotel is no doubt one of my favourites for a lunchtime feed, and especially enjoyed when sitting on the outside patio. The inside portion of the hotel is also great, and I love the narrow staircase and bar strengthening its warm decor. Because of a Seacliff location, and my usual whereabouts, venturing here is usually a rarity BUT that's ok BECAUSE... it simply makes my heart grow fonder every time I return. I remember recruiting here in large groups after soccer away games, where we played teams a long way South. We would sit outdoors and were efficiently catered for around the sun stricken setting, which was adjacent to the beach. Food here is also respectable and you can expect the usual casual type favourites, eg. Schnitzels, wedges, burgers, salads. Great location and having a meal on the balcony is a pleasant place to sit. The menu seems a bit more expensive than other places, but the location is great. The quality of the food is the only problem. Another reviewer mentioned that it was a bit hit or miss. We must have got miss.... We got three shnitties with different sauces and Cajun chicken. We didn't mind that it was frozen schnitzels, frozen chips and bag salad, it is after all pub grub. But all of the sauces were strangely similar, with an unpleasant texture and little taste. They managed to keep the chips sort of soft and tasteless too. Cajun chicken was a similar story with the chicken draped in a pretty drab sauce. Pretty crowded on a nice summers day so I am guessing they really don't care. Whoever cooked these offerings certainly didn't care. Overall a pleasant place for a drink on the balcony, but would avoid eating there as there are plenty of better options along nearby Jetty road. read more

Fake calamari hake instead of Garfish soggy cold chips and the worst coleslaw ever.Tha Hawian Pizza was just like a kids pizza (very poor) and pepper sauce on snitty was mushroom sauce with some peppercorns added shoking will never go there again. read more

My friend and I ordered a seafood platter and a dips platter to share. The seafood was fantastic - pickled octopus, squid, prawns and everything tasted fresh. We didn't have to wait long and for the price we paid there was more than enough food to share. Would definitely recommend. read more
