Their kitchen was just about closed, and a lot of food was already sold out completely. They managed to prepare some sandwiches for us, which was really kind as we were starving and everything else was closed. It was the perfect end to a rainy and chilly drive in the dark evening. We returned the following day for a proper dinner. This time we had a delicious meal, with good ale, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Everything was delicious. I think the atmosphere of this warm inn amidst the wild and roaring space deserves some merit as well. The establishment itself has this cozy, communal, and quite bustling atmosphere, which everyone seems to gravitate to in such a mystical and sleepy place. Outside, there's this beautiful, ancient, raw nature, that's so dormant and old, that feels so past civilization and humans, and then you enter this place and reacquaint yourself with people and interaction once again, in a communal, close-knit space. I loved it. I'd really recommend for anyone to just visit the area, walk around, feel its old, natural, and magnificent power, and then stop for a delicious and hearty meal here after. You definitely won't regret it. Try to get there not too late, however, or you might end up with no meal like we almost did!

It's such a great atmosphere with a cozy area to eat in front of a wood-burning cast iron stove. It's a very pet friendly place as well. We saw a cute doggie enjoying the warmth inside the bar. We ordered the chicken casserole special. It was good despite the price being a little too high for what it was. I'd expect to have a puff pastry on top of it for that price. Although, it was very tasty even though the presentation was not all that great. It was served with mash potatoes instead of chips. It was good. They have a big variety of local taps. I went with the Jock Pumpkinhead Stout from Loch Lomond Brewery while my husband had the Man O'Hoy from Orkney Brewery. We were very happy with our local brew selections. It was a very nice atmosphere for lunch. If you're a Harry Potter fan, then you may want to take that hike from here to the filming location of Hagrid's Hut. The pathway up to the hut is just a short walk from the inn. The inn itself is kind of unique with the ice ax and ski décor. It reminded me a little of Ketchikan for some reason. Maybe it was the 5 Points of Contact photo that I saw by Peter Daynes. There's also a display of ice axes designed by Hamish MacInnes. Our tour guide in Ketchikan was coincidentally named Hamish. Wow, everything does come around full circle. It all turned out to be a nice lunch experience in the Highlands.

The Haggis balls and summer salad are among the best meals I've had here. Each of the bartenders, and the Chef, Adam, were incredibly friendly and great to talk with. Mostly families with kids and a few guys drinking and playing pool. I ordered at the bar and they told me to pick a table and they'd bring my stuff. I just ordered a glass of wine the Cullen Skink(smoked haddock soup)and chili beef with boiled rice. Cullen skink was creamy and delicious tastes pretty much like clam chowder and it hit the spot for me. chill bead was very flavorful and I enjoyed every bite of that food. Everything was tasted fresh and so good. Servers and the bartender were pretty friendly and helpful. They took credit cards but I still had to get my money changed for the tip because you can't do tips on the card. I was bummed that I didn't eat there he night before. So if you are in the area I highly recommend this place and don't be like me and miss out on the food. Given that there are very limited choices in the area just go there multiple times and order different things. You won't regret it. ;)
