I came here for the fresh, cheaper than the supermarkets fruit and veg but I've stayed because of the biggest variety I've ever seen for gourmet goods, deli goods, continental, International and ethnic foods and spices. You can't go past the delectable range of olives here, in particular the kalamata olives and green stuffed olives with capsicum or mild chilli's. Bocconcini and feta cheese is to die for, and you have to try out the assortment of herbs and spices. So cheap, so plentiful, so wonderful - you just have to come here to experience true gourmet deli produce.

It has EVERYTHING food wise you could imagine, and more. - Freshly (like right in front of your eyes) made orange and apple juice. - Meat, meat MEAT - every meat you can imagine and drool over - Baked goods... so many... try and avoid it! - Fresh ALL AUSTRALIAN produce.. yum! But the best part is the cafe inside. Open till 3pm every day - they serve all the traditional breakfast dishes like Eggs Benedict, Big Breakfast & Smashed Avo... but they also have adorable cakes, wraps and toasted sandwiches. Well...the good old days are back at the Oak Park Friendly Supermarket. Ming, the owner of the supermarket is always there with a smile, willing to give you a hand, find what he knows you want and help you to your car. And for a local, family owned supermarket the prices are sometimes even cheaper than the chains, even on liquor. In saying that though, their prices could be 10% higher on everything all the time and I'd still choose to go there, simply for the service I receive. The media is always reporting on how retailers and business owners need to focus on better service in order to remain competitive against the threat of online shopping. I believe if every retailer, shop or business owner took a leaf out of Ming's book, the Internet wouldn't cause concern. Myself, along with my husband and the majority of my neighbours cross a highway and travel five minutes extra to go the Oak Park Supermarket over one a couple of minutes closer on our side of the highway. It's just that good, and I'm still amazed at the high product range considering it is a neighborhood supermarket. I just can't speak more highly of this place. To me it's truly remarkable to find a supermarket just 15 minutes from the city where they know your name, remain cost competitive against the chain stores and are willing to go the extra mile to help make your life easier.
