I would hate to be the girl that only started recently and doesn't know how to do very many things. She tries her best to help as much as she can, though. There's one woman in there who was super knowledgeable and remembered my wife from a few days ago. She remembered details about us from all the hundreds people she's seen between then and now. Really exemplary staff. They need more people and some better resources. I sure do appreciate their efforts though.

The cafe space is no longer in use by the coffee cafe but this library still has a lot going for it. There are multiple meeting/ community rooms and reading lounges. She hadn't been bothering anyone, making sounds, or causing any issues. She was just sitting there. They proceeded to ask her questions about how she was feeling, what day it was, etc. She was talking coherently but the three EMS employees and a library employee had her circled for at least 15 minutes after taking her vitals and wouldn't leave her alone. Obviously I don't know what happened. But I saw them wheel her into the ambulance. Beware if you're having an off day, or act a little eccentric. You may end up taking a thousands-of-dollars little ride if you don't answer questions to someone else's liking. Disturbing and uncalled for.

The librarians are kind. If you step to the center desk and need help, there are often two different people, so you don't have to wait at all for assistance. When you check out a book or have a question, the counter people are always pleasant and efficient, and the librarian in the children's area is just absolutely PHENOM with parents and kids alike. A huge plus to this location is there is so much seating. Desks with swivel trays for your laptop, loveseats, armchairs, table seats and even a few bistro tables. They are scattered around in many different sections of the library. Some of the books are literally jam packed onto the shelves. This might be due to the fact that this is a smaller location. A cool feature that I like and took advantage of is the small snack bar/ convenience store that sells potato chips, candy bars, t- shirts, notebooks and other items. That's pretty neat.

The library is spacious and well designed with a dedicated teen area and there's also a children's library and a separate reading "room". For those who need them, there are plenty of computers throughout. I love the library and so far, have been to libraries in 6 different states and I'm so impressed and pleased with Springfield's library designs, so much valuable space for public use and all of the programs offered.

Every clerk appears to be a charter member of the Sourpuss Society and if you need anything but stamps or to mail a letter (neither of which requires a person), you're screwed. I frequently drop packages at the UPS Store and FedEx, and the employees are courteous, friendly and helpful. Maybe the post office posse can sign up for some training in customer service.
