I'm a parent of a little girl who would later be diagnosed dyslexic. In preschool it's not super…read morepossible to know what is coming down the road for a child with regard to reading challenge. The head start Glencoe Montessori gave my daughter who attended 3yr through K has become so valuable to me now as a parent of a third grader. We have moved and my 6 year old twins attend the best montessori school in our new area and the literacy advantage of GMS and ALL the highland park montessori schools is unbelievable in hindsight. When I was a younger mom I found the idea of phonics in preschool to be a questionable practice because I wanted creative play emphasized. The children in the whole Highland Park Montessori sister school Network DO AN EXCELLENT JOB WITH CREATIVITY SUPPORT but they are also exceptional early literacy teachers. Go here. Stay for K if you can afford it. You are getting a value for your money beyond words. Our new school has a chicken farm and beehive the children tend and an outdoor eco lab in addition to the playground and and indoor pool with weekly lessons for pre-k and K. Glencoe Montessori is so much better than this new school (that is fabulous). My children are grateful, creative, and the one-on-one system at GMS and HPS for reading and pre-reading has saved my daughter's life practically. When you have trouble reading in the higher grades the stress for the child is heartbreaking. When my daughter attended GMS (Sue, Ro, Miriam, Beth) she was unstressed and they had her creating journal entries everyday of kindergarten that were super long and filled with phonetically spelled ideas she was having and she was proud to share her ideas and this was the best way to start out. Reading and writing was exciting for her in these early years of development. Your child deserves this!

The BEST!!! My twin boys attended the extended pre-k program here for the 2016-2017 school year and…read morethey loved it! The teachers, the director (Jenniferand ) and owner (Carol)

We enrolled our two year old during the Fall/Winter of 2015 and had a very good experience. We…read morevisited multiple centers in the area and found them to either be much more expensive or the facility was much older/run down. I was a bit hesitant because of Kiddie Academy's location (strip mall next to X Sport Fitness and Kohl's), but the inside is actually very spacious and parking was never an issue because of reserved parking for parents right outside of the Kiddie Academy entrance. What we really liked: * Each day, a "tadpole" is sent from an iPad -- it includes photos of your child during the day, what they ate, and diaper changes * The caregivers were fantastic. In particular, our son connected quite closely to Ms. Abby, Ms. Julie, and especially Ms. Emily. * The facility is secured with a computerized login to check in/out your child with a passcode * The price was much more reasonable than many of the other facilities in the area (despite being much nicer than most of the other daycares). We really felt like we got a fantastic deal * They have a monthly calendar of foods (breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc). It's not a gourmet meal, but it's nice to see that they've taken the time to come up with unique meal options and avoid repeats. * There's a clear educational focus that I really liked. * In the beginning and after Christmas break, our son had a difficult time going back to daycare. We really appreciated that we could call during the day and speak with one of the caregivers in the room to check on our son. Areas for improvement: * We would have liked a clearer transition plan for our two year old (moving from the toddler room to the two year old room). Our son turned two in late October, but he really only began transitioning in January. In fairness, he was at home for two weeks during Christmas break. By January, we had planned to have our son stay at home for the spring, so we decided to keep him in the toddler room for the remainder of the month, but it would have been nice for him to transition in November to be challenged intellectually and to be with similarly aged children * The payment system is easy, but it isn't directly connected to the check-in kiosk that shows your balance. It would be nice if everything was automatically connected and up to date as soon as a payment is made. * Although the toddler room had plenty of toys, we would have liked to have more books that weren't as beat up. Our son loves to read and it would have been nice to have newer books. The Arlington Heights library frequently has book sales -- it might be a good idea for the center to restock with new books in better condition.

My son had some emotional regulation issues and they were so accommodating and even worked with his therapist to ensure they were supporting him in the best way possible. The administration team is also amazing and often supported my son when he was having a hard time in the classroom, worked with me and his therapist to give him what he needed, and always responded to him with love and kindness. He has shown soooo much improvement this year because of their love and support for him. We are so grateful for our experience there and would highly recommend this place to anyone! Because if them, I feel confident sending him to kindergarten!
