I enjoy camping at Glenwood RV every season. Lots of areas to explore, driving around each area in our golf cart meeting new folks.

The real rating is probably 2.5. It's not the worst campground you'll ever visit, but it leaves a…read morelot to be desired. We had campsite 32, which provided a decent amount of tree cover and wasn't too far to walk to the restrooms. Mosquitoes were out of control, so be sure to pack proper clothes and a metric ton of bug spray. There were two vault toilets available in our loop - no running water there. Also no light inside, which is an adventure. Our picnic table was covered in bird poop and other debris from nearby trees. I'm used to roughing it, but this table was as bad as I've seen in a park. Maybe a lack of rain left it in such bad condition. I recommend bringing your own chairs and table if you can. The restrooms with running water were pretty disgusting. Why does every camp bathroom reek of urine? Do we not have functional plumbing in these things? Are guys just hosing down the entire building with piss and refusing to flush? It's insane. There was one very empty soap dispenser available and only warm/hot water coming from the faucet. Of course, you can't control your neighbors at a campground. Most folks were keeping themselves under control, but one group was watching a basketball game or something and the sound of the ref's whistle echoed throughout the camp. I understand that's not the campground's fault. It was disappointing to hear traffic while at the campground. I go camping to get away from it all. This was unfortunate. I might return to Illini State Park if I need a place to crash, but there was nothing special about this place other than its relative proximity to Starved Rock (which had no available campsites the day I was headed there). If you need firewood, you can grab some at the Shell station not far away at 1441 Columbus St, Ottawa, IL 61350.

This place is great! 15$ a night (10$ with a 5$ service fee online) You just pull up to your spot when you get there. They offer very private sites along with some sites in the open. Sites 90-95 & 98-101 are all great spots if you want some privacy. There's a small town with some cafes and bars just over the bridge so less than a mile away. Such a great spot & very relaxing.

We decided on a deluxe site with a concrete patio, a fire pit and a picnic table and it was $70 per night. They use camp spot so you will pay an additional five dollar fee for that registration. Others have mentioned they are pretty strict that if you arrive early will be charged $15 since they need to recover electric and water charges. They did not charge us this for our early arrival, so maybe somebody was having a good day. There is a camp store that looks like they have quite a few snack options when we arrived they were serving barbecue sandwiches from 1 to 5 as well as a bingo game. They also let us know for Father's Day weekend. They would have live music by the water feature from 6 to 8 and the band is actually pretty good tonight! The fire pit on our side is in a weird location and is kind of closer to our neighbors than us so we probably won't be using that There is a fantastic pool here as well as a bounce house and kids have been enjoying it all day We love that the sites are nice and wide so you are not directly on top of your neighbor, although if I had the option, I would probably ask for a site in the back farthest part of the park away from all the noise I would highly recommend one of the spots with a concrete pad as when it rains here it gets pretty muddy. We had a big storm last night and I am very happy we paid extra for the concrete.

They had Karaoke on Friday night and a band on Saturday in a barn on the property. We didn't go to either but since the barn is fairly enclosed it didn't bother us. This place is pretty quiet durning the day, like I said it's a super relaxed vibe, maybe because when we were there lots of spots were open. Management is great, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There are lots of seasonal's and plenty of nightly camping spots too. The RV spots are basically in a grassy field with some gravel, not perfectly level but not so bad that we had to pull out leveling blocks. Big nice trees everywhere. They have a nice playground and a great pond! It seems that they go to the effort to dump fresh sand on one side of the pond so that it's kind of like a beach and it makes to bottom of the pond sandy instead of muddy. There is also a big fountain in the pond that helps circulate the water and I suspect filter some of it. They don't have wifi but we didn't mind. We have been to so many RV parks that "offer" wifi but then you get there and it's so crapy that you feel a little cheated. I'd much rather know what I'm in for up front. AND we had great cell service (att) so we could do anything we wanted to. Happy camping!!
