Trattoria Consolare was recommended by not one but two of our taxi drivers while in the area, so we…read moredecided to check them out. We arrived as a group of five without reservation, however, they were able to accommodate us without much issue.
With no one in the group able to speak Italian, it was great that our waiter (the owner?) was patient and willing to explain the menu and specials in detail. We all ordered different apps and one member of my group even went off menu for a salad. For our entrees, half went with specials while the other half ordered off menu.
My beef carpaccio was smooth and delicious. I'm glad I didn't need to share much with the rest of my group since I wanted every bite for myself. My entree was a pork special which I didn't catch the name of. It was pork wrapped cheese deep fried. Normally it comes with a veggie as a side, but I asked for some pasta instead and they were happy to adjust. If you manage to save room, dessert was top notch and homemade.
I can't say I'll be back, but that is purely due to being out that way for work only. Should I find myself on another business trip, I expect I'd pop in for dinner!
