I knew this young woman was incompetent when she could not find the address. She drove around for nearly 20 minutes, "lost." When she arrived I knew she did not want to be there, she was very frazzled and dismissive. I went to introduce myself and to welcome her, instantly knew she was uncomfortable with my skin tone. However, I went to shake her hand she only touched the tips of my fingers. She also did not greet my 80 year old mother that was sitting in the kitchen, so my mother said hello and asked her name. Not sure how she was raised but usually when you walk into someone's home you should definitely great your elders if not everyone. Despite the cold entrance, I tried to be very pleasant, gave her a tour of the home and told her exactly what I needed done. I left her to complete the tasks and went to the kitchen, after two minutes had past, I see Tabitha run out and not say anything. Two seconds later I get a call from a representative at merry maids stating that she was leaving due to "Bad working conditions," stating it was too hot. We have air conditioning but I didn't realize it was not on because it doesn't get hot in the home. I explained that all she had to do was state that she was warm and her or I could simply turn on the air. I also went to Tabitha as she was leaving to see exactly why she didn't just ask me to turn on the air but she didn't say much of anything, she was just very impatient to leave as quickly as possible. I was born and raised in NYC but my family has been on this land before the development of the United States of America and has built this land on their backs. I have never in my experience racism and it really hurts when people think it's fine to treat you any type of way due to something as simple as melanin.

The first issue is not xenophobic, but the person performing the service spoke zero English and had to use her phone to communicate with her. As such, it was difficult to communicate our job specs to her. She did her best but needed more support from her company. There was confusion with the order. She had to call someone and didn't understand what we wanted. We didn't get the upholstery done because she did 4 rooms instead of three. I honestly couldn't understand what the issue was but rather than pushing it, I was ready to be done. Less than an hour later I get a call from someone saying we owe more money because she did 4 rooms. -we tried to explain the issue to her but the language barrier prevented clear communication. -we didn't get the upholstery done since she "did an extra room." In summary, the quality of the work done was acceptable. The customer interaction had clear issues which could be seen as barriers to interacting with clientele. No work order was sent. I couldn't get a receipt no matter how many times I asked.
