New tenants beware! New property staff!…read more Was here for over a year with no issues. Recently there has been a change to office staff and it shows. Throughout the entire year I've been here one of the two elevators is often not working. So if you get an until on the second floor, be cautious. Beware storing anything you may want quick access to. All the units are remote access. It's common for units to not be working properly. I've encountered many frustrated tenants that cannot access their units. After hours this is an impossible problem to solve. You simply must wait until the next business day. Most recently my unit was accessed by "technician request" for maintenance on the lock. I was given NO NOTICE that someone would be accessing my unit. This happened after apparently another tenant tampered with other units. "Cutting wires" etc. which made access to multiple units impossible. My unit was not affected, but had an unrelated issue with access. After pressuring the new guy in the office to help me into it we finally went up together and got it open. He originally told me I had to wait for a technician in a few days. After helping me I got a call to let me know my 24 hour access is revoked while they "look into" the tampering of the units. About a week later they let me know I would not be getting my 24 hour access back because I'm not a "registered business." I'm not sure what a musician in nashville is considered, but I think my tax guy considers me. They were sure to let me know that I signed all the correct paper work and paid the correct fees, but someone on there end didn't go through the proper channels to allow me access. No surprise there. They seem to do whatever they want here. (i.e. open your unit without telling you). Additionally, if there is no power (like in the last ice storm) you will not be able to access your unit regardless of what floor it's on. The front doors are all remote access as well. I attempted to retrieve an emergency power station that was in my unit during the storm. I was not able to gain access until power was restored. I really loved this place for a year. I was allowed to play my drums at here and had 24 hour access. Now that's all gone and staff members are just opening units whenever they feel like it. Otherwise, I would definitely not recommend it at all. The storage itself is on a hill, so it's pretty steep to get up/down. When I went to rent it, the guy was like oh yeah, we salt and something about having heated concrete so that people can get into it all year. Yeah... neither of those is true. So many times the place was closed due to ice/snow. They do get you in with the special pricing. However... in the year and 3 months I was there, they raised the rent FOUR times. So basically quarterly. So it went from $100 to $250. Everyone I talked to had never heard of a storage unit raising it so many times in one year. There was no lighting in the unit, and not in the best area of town, so I'm not sure why it needed to raise that much. At one point I found a couple brown recluses and cockroaches in my unit (no, I didn't have food in there and there was none where I moved my stuff from). I lined the doorway and such with roach poison and used one of those foggers and thankfully I didn't see any more after that. I've gone through all my things and also thankful that I've seen none... but still not fun and spending the money on that stuff is not ideal. I guess lastly for now, is the lack of being able to get ahold of anyone in the office. I would leave messages (because they never actually answered the phone (it would automatically go to voicemail every time) and never could I get anyone to call me back. I will say, the corporate customer service line of the company was good and I always got further with them than trying to go through the office. So one small pro with this company. Overall, I was so incredibly frustrated and I woul dhave left long before if I'd had the ability to move my things before I did. I do not recommend this place at all. I'm a federal employee directly impacted by the current government shutdown, which has left me without income through no fault of my own. I'm currently three months behind on payments due to financial difficulties, and the shutdown has made my situation even more dire. I contacted Erica hoping to arrange a payment plan and offered to make a good faith payment to demonstrate my commitment to settling my account once the government reopens and I receive back pay. Unfortunately, Extra Space Storage refused to work with me and plans to auction my unit on November 12th if I cannot pay in full--which is impossible given that I have no paycheck coming in during the shutdown. I'm struggling to afford groceries, let alone storage fees. It's disheartening that a national company would show zero compassion for federal workers caught in circumstances completely beyond their control. I understand businesses have policies, but the inability to offer any flexibility during a government shutdown affecting thousands of employees speaks volumes about their priorities. On Sunday evening we realized we would not need the unit, no promptly on Monday morning we stopped by the storage facility and explained what happened. The woman at the counter said there is no way to cancel the contract for the month. She called her husband to ask if there was an option and he said no. He was not on site to speak with me. He stated That they are keeping the $95 and there will be no refund. We never went in the unit and I am so disappointed that this company has no flexibility when someone makes an honest error. Then when she closed out the account she kept the $10 security deposit because I did not give 5 days notice. Seriously, the unit is paid for for a month and they are keeping the $10 security deposit plus the $95?? I also found out she closed it out with today's date so if my daughter wanted to use it this month she can not, even though it is paid for. I asked why she didn't mention the 5 day notice and she said , she didn't think about it. So I said please reverse the close out and I'll give you a 5 day notice now. She then took $10 out of her purse and gave it to me. So this company has my daughters $95 AND can rent the unit to someone else. In hindsight I should have canceled in a month so they can't collect twice for the same unit. I would suggest you do not do business with a company that is inflexible.

My daughters rental home was damaged during the tornado in Nashville, and we thought she needed to move out quickly. I called UNITS and spoke with Rourke and the owner Rick.
