A wide range of facilities, we go for 1) The ice skating,…read morewhich was renovated summer 2010 2) The swimming pool, which has long sessions, diving boards, a large teaching pool (shallow and warmer) and an outdoor pool in the summer The morning public skating sessions have background music, it's louder in the afternoon and there are disco sessions in the evenings, so take your pick. There are clubs and lessons for figure skating and ice hockey too. Where our local pool has hourly sessions and a mad rush for changing rooms at either end, we like the come and go whenever at Riverside. We also like the diving boards, 1m and 3m springboards, 5m platform (not always open - check website for times); great fun but rare elsewhere. A junior membership card is great value: my son skates every week so it's cheaper than paying for public sessions and he gets to swim for free too. It even includes parking when using the centre; casual users get a parking refund when paying but the pass avoids the ticket machine hassle. I also appreciate that the vending machines are not overpriced. What's wrong with it? Some complain the swim changing rooms are a little tired; they're not the greatest but they're perfectly satisfactory and you get your £1 back from the reasonably sized lockers. The flume in the pool has been out of commission since 2010, this was something we all loved when it was open - fix this for the fifth star The skating sessions get crowded while Dancing on Ice is on TV.

Indoors is a bit dirty but a great place for a swim. Pool staff are friendly. They have a lot to do…read moreat the facility including a good sized ice rink. If you go skating on a weeknight it's not too busy however it gets a bit too crowded on the weekends. Great place to hang out for a bit though.

It's got everything you would expect of a soft play area - huge slides, a rope swing, climbing wall, ball pit all on different levels. The equipment, seating areas and snack bar are exceedingly clean and well maintained. They have a lot of seating for parents - I particularly like the comfy sofas! - and a snack bar selling chocolate bars, drinks, etc but they also do really nice lunches at reasonable prices - home-made soups, pies, and a selection of sandwiches and salads. This is an equally great venue for a few hours to let the kids run around like crazy things or a birthday party.

In my opinion this is the best soft play / adventure play place in the area. The main play area is…read morechallenging enough for children to want to run about in for several hours, but accessible to 3 yr olds during the school week. The under 4s area is the best I have seen - again providing challenge along with fun activities e.g. ball pool, little tikes cars, baby walkers. Monkey Bizzness is well designed so that parents can sit at tables and watch their children. Although the table area is crowded it means there is always somewhere to sit, even at busy times. There is an extensive menu offered which had healthy and tasty food for adults and children as well as the usual fishfingers and chips etc. It is also very reasonably priced. At peak times sessions are limited to 2 hours but this tends to be on rainy bank holidays rather than a general rule.
