Pork chop with grits and carrots
    Melissa M.

This spot was recommended to us several times by locals and we were not disappointed! On a Friday night, the bar was hopping and the vibe was fun. But the food was even better! I got Jenny's Greens, a massive taco salad and my fiancé got the porkchop with bacon cheddar grits and Parmesan carrots. It was all amazing. The service was fast and friendly even though they were busy. We will absolutely be back!

    Restaurant and full bar

Mountain City/Creston can now add one more above average restaurant to its very limited selection! The Goat Yard Grill offers a great selection of contemporary food, and finally, a full bar. My daughter and I had the Pesto and Burrata Chicken sandwich with waffle fries and my wife ordered a Prime Rib Quesadilla. All of our meals were delicious which we then followed up with Cheesecake and Chocolate Tort. The service was very good and the owners were very gracious. I'm so pleased to see a high quality restaurant open in this location. Rob, I wish you and your wife much success with your new venture! Congratulations brother!

Goat cheese ravioli and Billy Burger with onion rings

YESSS this place is so good! We sat at the bar & enjoyed the fried green tomato app & the beer cheese dip with fries. Incredible flavor on both, unique take on classic dishes. This is exactly what the area needed & we are sorry we waited until now to finally come in haha! For entrees we had the Billy Burger & the Goat Cheese Ravioli. Great service & better food! Thank you Goat Yard for coming to mountain city!!!

Gobbled it too quickly. This is all that's left. (No, I didn't leave that onion ring, either!)

It's not often you find a burger that makes you pause mid-bite to say, "Wow." That's the Billy Burger.

The lights were not on due to trying to keep the place cool (we understand that) and she asked us if we wanted them but we said no. I guess one of the 2 women working there was taking care of a young boy, he was sitting in a booth watching a movie or program on a cell phone and he had the volumn up that we heard it while walking into the restaurant. He was never asked by either women working there to turn it down. The lady working the front told us to have a seat and she would bring us a menu. We ordered the fish and chips in which the price had been edited from $15.99 but the new price was rubbed off so we thought it was only a $1-2 dollars more. Apparently it was not, The fish were a good size and delicious but that was the only thing, When my husband paid our bill he was shocked that it came up to $46.80 not including a tip. 2- Fish and Chips; 1 tea and 1 water. Yes looking back now we should have asked the price since it was unreadable but that was our mistake. Unfortunately I have misplaced the receipt to comfirm all the charges, but the prices are very high and from looking on line at the menu I still cannot come up with that price and it definitely was noy worth almost $50,00.

But I wiggled my vehicle into a tight spot and went in for a burger and a beer. I believe there were about 10 to 12 options available on tap, and I went with what was listed as an Irish stout from somewhere in the Northeast. It wasn't bad, though it seemed more like an imperial stout. My sandwich choice was the Cowboy, with ground elk at its core. It was a good choice too, and the accompanying fried onions and melted cheese complemented the meat well. I ordered the burger medium, but I think I'd go for medium rare if I could go back in time. The medium option wasn't bad, but I think a little less heat and a little more moisture would only make things better. I kept things simple with the side item, going for the fries which were of the thinly sliced McDonald's variety, not bad but nothing remarkable. The server covering my table was pleasant and prompt, though soft spoken so I occasionally had to ask her to repeat herself amidst the music and noise. I wouldn't call any of these selections a bargain, but the prices didn't veer too far from what you'll find in many burger joints. All in all, not an earthshaking experience, but a place I'd be willing to go back to. 3.5 stars.

The service was nice and attentive. It definitely is a smaller mom and pop type of restaurant but very fun! The TVs had good variety of Olympics and College basketball playing on them so you can catch whatever game or event you want to watch. Now on to the food! To start we got the onion rings. They were cooked very well and I liked the breading of them. I do wish they came with some house dipping sauce or maybe a spicy ranch just to dip them in. They do have ketchup to use but I just feel with onion rings you need some type of spicy ranch or aioli dip with them. Now onto the Fries! I love me some crinkle cut fries and once I saw they had them I needed to get them! They are pillowy with a slight crunch on the outside. They have salt and pepper at the tables to use I do like a bit of old bay or something of that nature on crinkle cut fries that would be my only critique. Now Burger time! I got a patty melt which had onions, cheese burger patty and I put mayo on it. I enjoyed it a lot I do wish the onions weren't red onions and that they would've been caramelized. But the burger itself was seasoned and cooked to perfection! The bread it was on as well was a good rye bread and blended well with everything. The hamburger with jalapeños was good as-well the only critique on that would be the bun. If it had a different bun it would take it to the next level I think. For playing Pool they charge by the hour I believe and the prices were very good! Overall a great little spot to go chill and eat while watching or playing pool and not having to burn a hole in your wallet! I would definitely recommend!

It's a funky dive with dollar bills pasted everywhere and old Formica tables. It's said to be one of the last places Hank Williams was seen alive. Lots of history here. We ordered one maple syrup and cheddar burger and one Ruben and an order of onion rings to share. Maple syrup on a burger? Why didn't I think of that? It works. Man does it work. It gets splashed on while the beef is browning on the grill so it caramelizes. Then they add cheddar cheese. Dear Lord. The Ruben was greasy and decadent. Too rich to finish but too yummy to leave behind. A very serious problem, indeed. The onion rings were perfect- dropped in hot oil dating back to The Carter Administration. Golden. Loaded with flavor. Deadly fresh and crispy. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Really friendly and confident in what they know is going to blow your mind. Wear elastic waist pants. My burger was delicious and above and beyond any fast-food burger I have had before, at comparable prices. They serve grass-fed beef, chuck, round and sirloin. It is fresh, not frozen, and the meats are without hormones. My portion of fries was large, and I couldn't finish them. A smaller portion option would have been nice. I found the setup here confusing, as I wasn't sure where to enter from the parking lot, and then I wasn't sure where to order. Ordering is done at the kiosk or via a QR code. So expect a wait for the kiosk. I use kiosks and apps often, but this particular system was not smooth. I found the kiosk not as easy to use as it should have been; after I selected what I wanted, there was no way to get to the next screen to check out. I went with the build-your-own and was also disappointed that tomatoes weren't an option to add to the burger, but maybe they were out. They are a cashless business. When your order is ready, it is placed on a front cart, while drinks and sauces are self-serve. If I return, I will likely stick to the drive-thru, as that seems to be a much smoother ordering experience. Having a real person take your order and hand you everything you need at the window beats fighting with the kiosk inside.
