We stopped in on a weeknight and almost thought this spot was closed because there were no customers. But then, we walked by on a night when there was live music and the place was packed. So, the customer base is there! Ordering is done at the counter and it was easy enough to do so. The person at the front also clued me in when I mentioned that there were cheese grits on the online menu. Apparently they don't have them on the in-house menu because they only sometimes have them made. It was my lucky day- so I got the cheese grits, the corn, mac & cheese, and fries. I loved the spice level on the corn- not too much but enough for real flavor to come through. The fries were good- and the portion was huge. I could have easily shared and walked away with a pretty heavy to-go box. The cheese grits and mac & cheese were lukewarm, but I didn't correct the problem, so that's on me. Both the mac & cheese were good, but not great- the cheese grits needed a flavor punch. The mac & cheese noodles had gone a little too soft, so the texture was a little off (flavor was on point though). I did love the blue cheese dip and chips appetizer. The portion was hearty and it is definitely a sharing app! There were things like straws, napkins, and a to-go box where we did have to go seek out the front counter staff. I think it was meant to be self-service, but the things we needed weren't out and we didn't get checked on. So, that part was a little confusing. I stopped by here on a Friday night and thought it was closed. There were no customers at all. We walked in and ordered at the counter. I ordered the BBQ pork sandwich with a side of fries and a soft drink. The soda I got must've been low on carbon bc it was awful. I rinsed my cup and got sweet tea instead. I only like super sweet tea and this should've had an octane rating lol. When my food arrived my initial thought was that the fries were huge. Unfortunately my BBQ sandwich wasn't as warm as it could've been but I never said anything. The fries were so fluffy inside I could've eaten a pound of them. My family of 3 went to Delta Blues in Bristol,VA. The bbq sandwich had no taste, dry & no slaw. The green beans were salty. The only service u get is when u order then sit down & wait for food. U have to get ur own drink. I'm not impressed with anything except the decorations. read more

It's about 20% more expensive than I think it really should be, but the thing NOT to do is see this and pull the price down and use canned mushrooms over fresh, or prepped onions from a large vendor versus fresh, so as long as the quality is maintained, I'll pay this premium and not go there daily. I had the brisket, burnt ends, fried okra, collard greens, and a glass of beer. It was a decent meal, but missing either $3 off or another piece of brisket. I want to start off by saying that my husband and I have had ALOT of BBQ. Delta Blues is easily top of our list. We stopped after the Speedway Classic was rained out and about 30 minutes before they closed. Everyone was incredibly inviting and didn't bat an eye that we came in so late. They were out of most things, so we ordered from a limited menu, but we were still blown away by the delicious ribs and BBQ smoked chicken. Had an unexpected stop for the night in Bristol for the night so I checked out a local brewery (The Cascade Draft House) and they let me know of good dining options within walking distance so I grabbed dinner at Delta Blues BBQ. I found a table inside and placed my order. Being discount wings Wednesday I tried 5 smoked (buffalo rub) wings and then the burnt end plate with turnip greens and fried corn. While I'll be that guy and say I've had better burnt ends in Kansas City, these were pretty great and the best I've ever had outside of KC. A little less crispy on the edges than I prefer, but flavorful and juicy. The wings were just about perfect and the greens and corn were spot on. $2 PBR drafts and blues rock on the radio? Dog friendly everyone!!! Love that there was a patio outside to enjoy food when with the fur babies. The tables were family style and spacious. Our party of 6 decided this was the place of choice for lunch. The menu was above the register and on the counter. I perused my options, and opted for burnt ends. Unfortunately, the employee said it was unavailable in addition to the couple of sides that were requested. It was probably due to supply and demand. We paid and waited for our food to be brought out to us in the patio. So, I ended up with the brisket, fried okra, and Cole slaw. The hubs had the smoked sausage tray with Mac and cheese and potato salad. My in laws had pulled chicken sandwich, brisket sandwich with fries. I forgot what my brother in law and gf ordered lol. So....the brisket was lukewarm, a little tough, and dry. The batter for the fried okra was bland and underwhelming. But, the coleslaw was great! It came with a simple white slice of toasted bread . My better half sausage had a nice smokiness flavor. The Mac and cheese were good, but the potato salad was very sweet. To each its own, some prefer sweet, and others savory. I am excited to come here; we have been in Bristol for almost three months and had not come here yet. This is better-than-average BBQ place: brisket was on point. You can go to places where the brisket is "fatty" or "dry" but this was PERFECT brisket. My three slices on my tray were devoid of any fat and so tender. The Collard Greens were the best I have had and the fried Okra was delicious. I smoke meat as a hobby and brisket isn't easy; you need to trim the point from the flat. You render the point down and make burnt ends but the flat you cook for the to make a lean brisket. It is hard to keep the flat moist but this was fantastic. Overall, among the best BBQ that I have had. I can find a little bit of fault with the Okra but my wife's Baked Beans were amazing so stick to items with musical notes next to them and you will be planning your next visit. read more

Came from out of state for the food. Service was amazing, so many people checking on everyone to make sure meals are good. We came during the end of the lunch rush so it was a little crowded but we still found seating. Wings were amazing, we got the chicken Philly sandwich for lunch which was also amazing. Did have a slight issue with one of the items but the staff helped fix the issue super fast:) the fries were so good, I couldn't eat them all so I took them home. Delta Blues has great BBQ, there's no denying that, I've had friends who thought they didn't like BBQ come here and come out saying they love BBQ. Frankly, I've always loved BBQ, so Delta Blues is a great place to me. I usually get their brisket platter with their collard greens and fries. Their brisket is very good, but how good it is depends on what day you come in on. Their collard greens are always delicious, no matter if you like vegetables or not you will like the collard greens. Their fries are pretty standard, I'd recommend getting Cajun seasoning on them. The restaurant can get pretty packed at times, so make sure to get there early to get yourself a seat. The restaurant is packed for good reason though, it's wonderful to be served by the staff; they truly show sourthern hospitality. They are always helpful with things, like helping you pick out things to try on the menu. Additionally, if you get a fountain drink you can have free refills. My dog and I were on a road trip and saw online that this place was dog-friendly AND it was Cajun Tuesday--sold! Typically you'd need to go inside and order before coming out to the dog-friendly patio, but the staff was so accommodating since I was by myself and let me call it in. They brought it right out, and even brought some treats for my pup! I opted for the house-made blue cheese dip with chips to start and DANG I wish I had a way to keep the leftover dip cold along my trip because I would love to eat that every day. The chips were nice and thick, too. For my entree, I chose the blackened shrimp platter, which was about $10.99 for a good amount of food! The shrimp were beautifully flavored and succulent (and y'all, I don't usually trust seafood this far inland). The surprising star of the plate was the fried corn on the cob--so good! They have a variety of flavor options available to season it with, but I kept with the theme and went with Cajun. Mac and cheese was good, but it was a slight up charge for the side, just as an FYI. Worth every penny, in my opinion! If I'm ever back in the Bristol area, I'll definitely be swinging back through Delta Blues! I would love to come on a night where they have live music. read more

I guess Tennessee barbecue is a bit different than Texas barbecue. I ordered MOIST brisket and pulled pork. Both were as dry as sawdust. I also had coleslaw and baked beans, which was not too bad, but I suspect the beans were Bushes canned beans which I like. I left the majority of my meats behind because they were so dry I couldn't finish them. It just may be a different style of barbecue I'm not use to.
