Choosing to do a home birth with Jessie may just be one of the best decisions in my life. At 20 weeks, I chose to leave the birth center and midwives I had started with at the beginning of my pregnancy to embark on a home birth with Jessie as my midwife. It was a scary leap at the time but one I'm so grateful for following my heart and taking. I felt so held by Jessie's expertise, warmth and genuine love for what she does. There was nothing I couldn't tell her or ask her about. She helped me have the birth of my dreams and feel so supported both pre and postpartum. Her level of care is unparalleled and I felt so safe in her hands throughout the entire journey and especially during my labor. I couldn't recommend her highly enough. If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to be under her care, snatch it up! She is truly a gem in every way.

I could literally talk forever about Jessie!!! She is a godsend. I knew I wanted to hire Jessie as soon as I started interviewing her. She would ABSOLUTELY be my midwife for our second baby but we moved to NorCal. I would recommend Jessie in a heartbeat to anyone and everyone. She has such a calming presence and she truly cares about her people :) Okay I'll stop writing now because you are probably tired of reading. Lol but if you have any specific questions feel free to reach out to me

Jessie is amazing! We changed from planning a hospital birth to home birth when I was 36wks. My husband and I change due us feeling like we were meat in a conveyor belt and there was a possibility that my husband would not be able to be with me when I delivered our daughter at the hospital due to the fact we aren't vaccinated. We didn't want to take that chance. We did our research and loved all the reviews Jessie had. We loved her from the get go. She made us feel at ease and comfortable. When I was going to give birth in the hospital I was scared AF because all I was told was all negative things. With Jessie she educated my husband and Me about birth & pregnancy, I felt much more comfortable and even excited about giving birth to our little girl. Jessie was very thorough and was all about the safety of momma & baby. She had a plan for if anything went wrong. She was prepared for anything. I had a smooth delivery. My baby was out in less than 5min. She also does postpartum visits which were amazing. Thank you Jessie

We knew Jessie was "the one" when we were interviewing doulas for our first child's birth. Within minutes of our phone consultation, Jessie had sized us up as a couple; asking about our families, our thoughts, and feeling out where we were on our birth journey. Her calm, professional demeanor was coupled with a profound ability to assure and remind a first time mama that the love for your partner that got you to this moment in pregnancy would be the same love that would later carry and support you into your role as a new mom. Jessie was amazing at meeting us both right where we were at that moment. Throughout my pregnancy I felt supported and that she was invested in me, my family, and our pregnancy. It was amazing to have such a wonderful support person on our journey with us.

I cant say enough about how blessed i was to find Jessie in such a short amount of time. Jessie was my midwife and a god sent . She did an amazing job and provided us with tons of insight and allowed my partner to feel at ease with an at home birth. she was very calm throughout my labor which kept me relaxed. Jessie was outstanding with providing the best advice and allowed me at times to try on my own without intervention when intervention was need she executed it and always asked for consent beforehand. For example needing a catheter or not. I highly recommend Jessie to anyone looking for a midwife. My partner also stated he would hire Jessie for the next birth.

I don't even know where to begin! Jessie was such an amazing midwife for the birth of my son (7/9/2022). I found her after researching just about every midwife I could find, the moment I met her I knew she was the perfect fit for our family. She has such a way of making everyone feel welcomed. She made me feel comfortable and safe through out my whole pregnancy. I fully trust her and her abilities in helping us make informed decisions. Like most husbands my husband was a bit nervous about the idea of home birthing but she walked us through everything and he felt very confident in her. During the birthing process she was so calm & supportive. During our birth she also made sure that my older daughter (12) was a part of the process which was so helpful in her feeling included...on top of her feeling included it has also sparked an interest in our older daughter about the whole natural birthing process. She didn't just change our lives by delivering our son, she changed our overall lifestyle by creating the dialogue for my husband and I to have conversations and really decide what's best for our family. Jessie made it possible for my husband and I to be equipped to have the most amazing experience of our lives! We look back on the day our son was born and we both agree it was the raddest thing we've ever done together & Jessie made all of that possible for us!

We LOVE Jessie! Our pregnancy journey and home birth was hands down, the best experience we could ever ask for!! Jessie is one of the greatest women I've ever met and she is immensely knowledgeable, supportive, loving, and so fun to be around. Her connection with babies, even before they're born, is incredible. She also encapsulated my placenta after the birth. We already plan on working with Gold Soul Midwifery for our next pregnancy and birth. 5 stars, 10/10 would recommend, two thumbs up...Jessie at Gold Soul Midwifery is the best!

So I tried my best to make it to her classes .... But then in walks Covid with all its stay at home quarantine SAS! At this point I'm 7 months. And I now feel my pregnancy plan to stay active is going down the drain. But wait... there's a rainbow at the end of this freak show. Francesca to the rescue ... she starts offering online prenatal classes and I'm so happy I cry. *all those hormones* talk about hot mess. I now attend her classes just about every day AND I ask her to be my Doula She and her classes helped me get through a lot of anxiety. Being pregnant and so close to giving birth during a pandemic..... it got pretty dark there for a min. But Francesca is very informative and has this calmness about her.... She's all the good things you need/ want from a prenatal yoga teacher/ doula While she could not be with me in the delivery room she was with me through phone and text guiding me through. My husband and I couldn't have been more grateful. So in conclusion Francesca is a Unicorn! And I love her... but you'll find that out once you take her classes or have her as your doula

Being in class with other expectant couples created such a supportive environment, and the course was incredibly comprehensive. It gave me the knowledge and confidence to navigate a hospital birth and make informed decisions about the many interventions that are commonly offered. At 38 weeks, my water broke unexpectedly while I was riding a stationary bike. I immediately reached out to Lia for guidance. Since I wasn't experiencing a fever or any signs of infection, she explained that I had options: I could either go to the hospital right away or stay home and wait for labor to begin naturally. She also educated me about the fact that the body continues producing amniotic fluid and that, in some cases, a small rupture in the membranes may even reseal. Knowing that going to the hospital before labor started would likely lead to an induction (which wasn't aligned with my goal of having an unmedicated birth) I chose to stay home and monitor myself. The night before my 39-week OB appointment, I was feeling anxious. I knew that if my provider confirmed my water had broken before labor had started, induction would almost certainly be recommended. I reached out to Lia again, and she suggested trying the Miles Circuit. I followed the stretches that evening, and to my surprise, I went into early labor around 1:00 a.m. Whether it was the Miles Circuit, my body simply being ready, or a combination of both, it gave me the confidence to keep trusting the process. In January 2024, I welcomed a healthy baby girl through the unmedicated birth I had hoped for. While my hospital experience was unfortunately traumatic, the education Lia provided made all the difference. There were many moments when my husband, my doula, and I had to advocate for my birth preferences, and it wasn't always met with respect. Without the knowledge and confidence I gained from Lia's class, I truly believe my birth could have unfolded very differently. I'm now pregnant with my second baby, and one of the first things I did was sign up to retake Lia's class. One of the biggest perks is that once you've taken her course, you can retake it as many times as you'd like for free. Childbirth education isn't something you only benefit from once, and I love having the opportunity to refresh everything I've learned before welcoming another baby. I'm incredibly grateful for everything Lia taught us. Her class empowered me to make informed decisions, advocate for myself, and approach birth with confidence. I wholeheartedly recommend her course to any expecting parents, especially those hoping for an evidence-based, physiologic birth. Even if you have to drive a little farther to attend like I did, it's worth every mile.

First off, it can be hard to find time to take a birth class, and Lia chooses convenient times, with multiple options to choose from. It's a very comfortable classroom atmosphere where I felt good to ask any question, or add any comment. Lia keeps it fun and interesting, and is a great teacher. Lia is also available outside of class for questions, and she is super responsive. It shouldn't really matter if a doula has been pregnant herself.... But it was really helpful to hear about her first hand experiences and to know that she has gone through it all before. I just wish we in lived in LA so that we could have Lia as our Doula.

I found Labor of Love by doing some of my own research online. And thank God I did! My doula,…read moreKaren, was my rock throughout my labor and was 100,000 percent amazing--I'll definitely be working with her for my second! A little backstory: I was overwhelmed and so nervous about finding "the one" person to be a part of the most important event of my life. After doing my research and reading through all these bios, I honestly was left feeling overwhelmed, especially knowing how indecisive I can be. I knew I just had to trust my intuition and my gut on this one! After looking at Karen's bio on their website, I had such a good feeling. Staci (the owner), who was super friendly and professional, helped me get connected with Karen, and I booked an interview right away! Karen was so sweet and asked me about my pregnancy experience so far. We discussed how I wanted my birth to go and any concerns I had. There wasn't any pressure to hire her, and it just felt like she was already invested in me, like I was already family. I even had her video chat with my husband to make sure we both felt comfortable and vibed well together--and we sure did! Overall, Karen ended up being the perfect balance of knowledge, experience, and professionalism. It was the most perfect amount of care I could have asked for. She was also such an advocate for my birth plan to work out. Before, during, and after my labor and birth, she was always naturally in tune with what I needed. She was never overbearing, worked so well with my husband, and gave him space to be a part of my support team as well. I am so grateful to have come across Labor of Love

My experience with Labor of Love was almost two years ago now but continues to upset me when thinking back on my experience. We hired Lauren as our doula, who made it clear she expected us to go far past my due date as a first time mom. While it's possible for that to happen, it didn't in my case. At 39 weeks and at 5am while in active labor and getting ready to head to the hospital, she let us know she had Covid. Her backup was Karen, who I wish we hired to begin with as she is far more caring and professional. Though unfortunately our experience still fell short and we ultimately delivered without Karen present. We were left feeling like we invested a lot of emotion and money into this process with ultimately no help. Staci has been incredibly rude to us since then and even revoked our access to watch her training videos, sending me a link to pay her once again when wanting to rewatch for our now second baby on the way. Karen herself even recommended we ask for a partial refund due to our experience, but Staci lacks the professionalism and courtesy to her clients. Truly mindblowing that she revoked access to the training videos after we had already paid for them. I would stay far away and recommend a more experienced and caring doula group.

So many times my friends were going to go "natural" but in the end they would give into the almighty needle. His entire family laughed when I said I was going to try a natural birth. Their exact words "Why would you ever choose that?!!" So I dragged my reluctant husband to our 6 week Hypnobabies course. By the 3rd week he was fully on the natural train! He told me "I really think you can do this!" The class was great and I really loved how we bonded with the other couples!! Lorraine was our doula also and it was a great experience. From our interview to when our sweet baby girl came Lorraine was at our disposal. She kept me calm and focused during my birthing time/labor and at the end I faced some complications... Lorraine gave me the lowdown on what was going on and let me know that it was crunch time! Looking back it really was the perfect pep talk... I pushed the baby out in 3 contractions!! And believe it or not I was up and walking around 30 mins later! In an age with so much misinformation and lack of care towards pregnant women, Janis proved to be an excellent resource and was a wellspring of knowledge, information, and encouragement. The techniques and lessons we learned from Janis helped my wife have a natural drug-free birth, something my wife thought was inconceivable at first. An amazing storyteller, Janis weaves her lessons organically through the art of narration, which helped us connect how the skills we learned would apply to real-life situations. There is a ton of knowledge that Janis imparts on her students, from recognizing early signs of labor, handling contractions, breastfeeding, to post-partum care. All of this is taught without pushing us to give birth a certain way; rather, Janis taught us all the pros and cons of different styles of birth so we felt extremely well-informed to make good choices that fit our birth plan. Additionally, Janis shows that she cares about both the mom and the birth partner, and she encourages both to work together. Her kindness, blunt honesty, and openness made for an ideal learning environment, and it helped my wife and I learn and grow together. She is confident in her lessons, which helped us feel confident when it was time for labor. When it came time for my wife to give birth, I could not believe just how valuable everything we learned from Janis proved to be. It was miraculous, watching all the techniques and lessons come together to help give my wife a mostly pain-free birth. I am in awe just thinking about it. I wish everyone who was pregnant would attend her classes. Janis is a gold mine of information, and taking her class was one of the best decisions we made in our lives. I truly do believe it helped us have an excellent birth experience, and I shudder to think what could have been. The cherry on top is that it is an affordable price for hours and hours of knowledge that can help remove the fears surrounding pregnancy and labor. Thank you, Janis, for all that you've taught us. I was so excited to finally meet her in person and I signed the contract right away. I immediately sent over my deposit and I requested that she provide me with a receipt for the deposit . The fact that she was initially declining my request for a receipt because she wanted to wait until after the baby was born was probably the first sign that trouble was coming. I went back-and-forth with her and asked to get my receipt for the money that I had already paid so that I could use that receipt for a reimbursement with my flexible spending account. She still refused to give me the receipt so I reached out to my flexible spending company and asked them if I had to wait for the baby to be born in order to be reimbursed and they said no. Finally, Marisol agreed to give me a receipt for my deposit. I found this quite odd since people generally get a receipt when money exchanges hands. My husband and I meet with Marisol around 36 weeks to go over the birth plan. I tell her that my plan is to have her help me labor at home as much as possible since I wanted to reduce the likelihood of medical interventions. I also asked they she capture some photos for us. Marisol explained that we should not contact her right away if labor starts in the middle of the night, only call when ready. She kept stressing this point and even emailed me a document that says to only call when we are ready for her to come. A couple of weeks later I go into labor late one night. My labor progressed quickly and we called Marisol when we wanted her to come over, no answer. I then texted her. A short time later I told her we were headed to the hospital. Labor pains got so intense that I was not able to monitor my phone so my husband and Marisol were texting. Labor pains were so intense so I requested an epidural at the hospital. Once Marisol got this information , she assumed she had more time. I guess she didn't take into account that that epidural was not completed. Long story short, she didn't make her way to the hospital until after the kid was born. Per her contract, she had 90 minutes to get to me. My labor was quick but she had a 3 hour heads up. I was actually disappointed that she came to the hospital because now it feels like a random acquaintance just showed up for one of the biggest days of your life and now you have to entertain them. She stayed with us until we got transferred to our postpartum room. At this point, Marisol was not a part of my birth story at all and I was angry. A couple days later I immediately requested a partial refund. She denied my request saying she was "available." Instead she offered me one additional 3 hour postpartum visit. I didn't accept that and said we could discuss this matter when she did her postpartum visit. During the visit, Marisol said she could tell that I "felt some type of way" and she asked me to share my feelings. I told her I felt cheated, I'm out a lot of money and she didn't have to do anything. It was her choice to not come to me right away, I followed all of her instructions. Marisol then told me she was actually on her way to me but she needed time to shower, clean her doula supplies and pack her doula bag. Once she heard about the epidural, she returned home to pack snacks. This information infuriated me....she missed my birth for this?!?! This is an area where you don't get a do over. I would imagine that with the nature of this job you would always have your supplies clean and ready. She ended up offering me 12 postpartum hours. I told her that was not what I wanted since I didn't want to think of things for her to help me with. In plus, it's easy to get help during the day. I ended up requesting my money back and threatening legal action since she breached her own contract. In the end she agreed to return 1/2 of my money ($1400) and I was able to avoid legal action. (I didn't mind taking legal action, this was an open and shut case according to the guidance I received). I'd say she still came out ahead, $1400 for 2 short visits to my house and a short 45 minute visit to the hospital after my kid was born. I am beyond bummed about this experience. So yes, I still "feel some type of way!" I'm not sure how you could say you were available yet you missed the birth. And I still can't comprehend the rationale. I'm so confused.

Looma Birth connected us with an amazing night doula. We finally got to sleep during the newborn…read moremonths! Elizabeth took the time to hear our needs and helped make the process of finding the right doula for our family so much easier. Highly recommend Looma Birth!

I honestly can't say enough good things about Looma Birth and its founder Elizabeth. I'm a single…read morewoman who got pregnant through IVF because I desperately wanted to be a mom and was running out of time. I met Elizabeth at the beginning of my first trimester in Prenatal yoga (she was my instructor). I loved Elizbeth's Birth Education Classes, I took all three. Empowered Hospital Birth helped me not only learn what to expect but also how important it is to advocate for the birth experience you want and to have others in the room ready to do just that on your behalf. In Empowering Postpartum Prep, I learned how to prepare in advance for what coming home from the hospital would be like - which was critical in my situation as there wouldn't be anyone there to take care of us or help me. Empowered Breastfeeding as you might expect taught me how to breastfeed, Looma also had a Breastfeeding circle that gave lots of support after my daughter was born. Elizabeth also matched me to my Absolutely AMAZING Birth Doula, Raylene. To say that Raylene went above and beyond for me would be an understatement, I never felt alone with Raylene by my side, she even taught the nurses new techniques. Looma continued to support us after my daughter was born. I met my tribe through their New Mama Circle, the moms I met in that 6 week class are now family, we support each other through thick and thin. I took their infant CPR class while pregnant, and then again after my daughter was born and brought her with me to make sure I knew exactly how to do each exercise on her. My daughter and I really bonded through their infant massage classes. And I started to heal my body through their Postpartum Bliss yoga classes which were taught by one of the mom's from my Mom Circle and where I met even more moms that are now family. I even found my daughter's phenomenal daycare/preschool (Little Sunshine House) through a session with Looma's Breastfeeding Doula, Brittany. I'd gone into my pregnancy with a lot of shame and fear about becoming a single mom, Looma not only helped me feel safe and supported, they gave connected me to my forever family now my daughter has over a dozen cousins, Aunts and Uncles.
