What stood out to us most, however, was how genuinely caring Edilia was. Her care never felt like she was simply performing a job because we had hired her. From day one, she formed a real connection with Liam and treated him with warmth, tenderness, and affection. As parents, it meant a great deal to see that the person caring for our little one was truly invested in his comfort, safety, and well-being. Edilia's support also made a very real difference in our family's day-to-day life. We already have an 8-year-old son, and while welcoming a newborn was incredibly special, we were also navigating the newborn stage all over again while continuing to be present for our older son. School, baseball, work, and the normal responsibilities of family life did not stop simply because we had a newborn at home. We were fortunate to have Edilia care for Liam five nights a week. She was always prompt and communicative about scheduling, which gave us consistency we could truly depend on. Being able to get meaningful rest overnight allowed us to wake up with the energy to care for Liam while also being present for our older son--getting him ready for school, keeping up with baseball, and maintaining the routines that were important to him. Her overnight care was especially important for mom's postpartum recovery. Sleep is so critical during those first days and weeks after giving birth, and having Edilia there allowed Mom to get the uninterrupted rest her body needed to heal and regain her strength. Because we could trust that Liam was being lovingly and attentively cared for throughout the night, Mom was able to focus on recovery rather than operating on very little sleep. The difference was remarkable--by the third week postpartum, she had recovered well enough to attend a baby shower, something we believe would have been much more difficult without the rest and support Edilia helped make possible. Her help was also especially meaningful during tax season, which is an exceptionally demanding time of year for our family professionally. Knowing that Liam was receiving attentive and loving care overnight gave us peace of mind and allowed us to balance a very busy work schedule with the needs of both of our children. It is difficult to overstate how much of a difference that support made for our entire household. Edilia was also generous with her knowledge and supportive of us as parents. She answered our questions patiently, shared her experience when appropriate, and helped us navigate those early weeks with greater confidence. She understood that caring for a newborn also means supporting the parents and the family around that child, and she did that exceptionally well. We are extremely grateful that Edilia was part of Liam's earliest days. During the last few weeks of my pregnancy she was so supportive and helped ease both my physical and emotional concerns. I was so impressed by how knowledgeable she was about each stage of labor and I really found that she knew how to support me during labor. She helped to supported me through a completely unmedicated labor and delivery in a hospital setting. I found that she was thoughtful and accepting of my husband and my preferences each step of the way. It helped me feel confident about what I wanted through my labor. During labor she helped coach my husband on how to support me physically and emotionally. Goodness, I don't even know where to start! First time momma here! Somewhere along our pregnancy…read morejourney, we felt led to switch from OB care/hospital birth to Midwifery + doula care / home birth. My husband and I began searching and interviewing multiple doulas until Elizabeth, owner of Anointed Births contacted me to let me know she was in the process of adding Veronica into their mix and had only good things to say about her. We hopped on a FT with her and it was as if we were FTing a friend! It felt so easy, comfortable, she asked us questions, took notes, listened to our wants/concerns/plan/etc, and felt already supported from the first interview phone call. On that phone call we found out that our midwife was also hers-- it felt like everything was aligning! We knew we wanted to move forward with her and from then on she kept up constant communication with us, would answer any questions we had, addressed every concern, would give me all kinds of tips and tricks, encouraged us along the way, and then the birthing day! That girl put in WORK!!! She stayed with us for 12-13 hours and on a holiday! She never left my side, every time I looked at her during my labor and delivery, I was met with such a sweet smile, graceful encouragement, and continual guidance and support. She was helping me in every position, massaging my back, tennis ball to the back, gave a comb to squeeze, reminding and encouraging me to breathe and push the air down and out, to work with every contraction, to completely relax and rest in between surges, placing cold towels over my head and neck, making sure I was snacking and hydrating, pouring water over my back, whatever doula trick you can think of-- she did it and then some! AND she would check in with my husband and make sure he also had the energy to keep going, would asked if he drank water, if she could get him anything as he also held me every moment and stayed so strong for me. Even after birth she stayed to take care of me, help clean up our home, made me placenta ice cubes, made me my first ever super yummy placenta smoothie, did a beautiful placenta print, and just stayed by my side and held my hand stroking my leg making me feel so seen, so heard, so at home. It's like she knew I was holding back and told me it was ok to let it go. She always reminded me that what I just had to do whether it was carry and create our beautiful baby girl, labor for hours, push for hours, deliver a whole human, etc was a lottttt and that it was ok to feel the feelings and let it out. And THAT really helped. Somehow she also documented my labor and delivery, whilst still being fully present with us, and sent it to us at our postpartum appointment and I just about cried all over again viewing and watching what she captured. At every at-home visit, whether before or after the birth, she educated us with a wealth of knowledge, taught and showed us so many things, respected and supported all we felt led to do, and was just so excited for us! She not only helped physically, but she helped mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. When I would encounter not so great things during pregnancy, she would encourage and pray for us. And during the birth day, she was right there with us praying out loud in agreement with my husband, and singing along to the worship music playing. I highly doubt I could've lasted the way I did without her by my side and most likely would've had to transfer to the hospital due to exhaustion or giving up. We hired Amanda to come to our home and help us out. It was so convenient and she was amazing! She recommended some changes to make safety wise and showed us how to install them and let my husband and I each do it in our own cars so we felt comfortable, especially since I will be getting a new car soon and will have to learn to. She gave us some great tips and sent us a follow up email with a ton of resources and information. Overall I would highly recommend this service to make sure everything is correct with your car seats, car seat safety is so important and I feel so much better knowing my son is as safe as he can be.

I'm so thankful that I was referred to…read moreMaureen: I was halfway through my first pregnancy and my yoga instructor encouraged me to become educated about labor, birth, and postpartum life. I am SO glad I received that encouragement and Maureen's name from her. I had interviewed a couple doulas who I found on Yelp, but my 3rd call was Maureen and I knew by the end of our first phone conversation that she was the one who would be my teammate and would be there to witness the birth of my first baby! We opted to do a hospital birth (although I loved the idea of a midwifery center or a home birth, my husband's desire was to have our son born in a hospital setting) and I knew that I wanted the wisdom and support of a birth doula to assist my husband and I in making the best decisions possible during the labor & delivery process. My goal was to have a natural birth and I knew that might be challenging in the hospital setting. As a side-note, I had previously thought birth doulas were mainly for people who had extra money laying around - but now I don't know why I had that idea because it's not true in the least bit! We made a point to save where we could so that we could spend some on a doula. Before "The Day" arrived, we met with Maureen in person. She asked great questions about our wishes, fears, uncertainties and she helped us to write a very simple birth plan (or 'birth preferences'- since most of the time things DON'T go exactly as you plan for with birth!). She was in contact with us often in the weeks leading up the my due date, especially because at 34 weeks I needed to go to the hospital Triage due to intense/frequent Braxton Hicks and we also found out that baby was breech and would need to turn - and soon! She and Krista gave me excellent advice that I wouldn't have otherwise received - little suggestions and tricks for taking care of myself at home leading up to my due date. We wanted to keep the baby in the womb until he was closer to (or at) 40 weeks and we were hopeful he would flip around, too! So, Maureen advised me to rest, calm my mind, listen to hypnobirthing mp3s, etc. We kept in touch regularly for the 3-4 weeks before my water broke at 37 weeks + 1 day - baby boy waited until he was considered full-term and then wouldn't wait a day longer! He was placed in my arms 37 hours later! For the actual labor & delivery she met us at Hoag while we were still trying to get labor going (unsuccessfully) and then she supported us as the nurses suggested Pitocin to get things going. PItocin wasn't in our "Plan", but with Maureen's support, my husband and I asked that we start the process very slow & steady... LONG story short, I was able to deliver the baby vaginally without any drugs or intervention with exception of the Pitocin. Thank God we had Maureen - she helped with massaging, bathroom trips, various labor positions, pep talks, and she really supported my husband. I think that's the biggest takeaway- my husband had the confidence to tell the hospital staff our desires (when needed) because Maureen was his teammate when I was out of my usual mind during the labor process. Maureen is sincere, hard-working, loving, and just an all-around JOY to be around. God knew what he was doing when he set us up together. It's been nearly 6 months since my son was born (another pregnancy isn't in our imminent future) and when the time is right I know I will be dialing Maureen as soon as we make plans to have Baby #2. I encourage anyone who read this long-winded review to connect with Maureen before making your final decision if a birth doula is right for you! As my husband has told several other of our expecting couple-friends: "Talk to Maureen (or any doula you're considering), it's the best money we chose to spend during this season!"

This review truly breaks my heart to write. When I get pregnant with my second child and I…read morecontacted Marisol right away to book her as my Doula. I was so excited to finally meet her in person and I signed the contract right away. I immediately sent over my deposit and I requested that she provide me with a receipt for the deposit . The fact that she was initially declining my request for a receipt because she wanted to wait until after the baby was born was probably the first sign that trouble was coming. I went back-and-forth with her and asked to get my receipt for the money that I had already paid so that I could use that receipt for a reimbursement with my flexible spending account. She still refused to give me the receipt so I reached out to my flexible spending company and asked them if I had to wait for the baby to be born in order to be reimbursed and they said no. Finally, Marisol agreed to give me a receipt for my deposit. I found this quite odd since people generally get a receipt when money exchanges hands. My husband and I meet with Marisol around 36 weeks to go over the birth plan. I tell her that my plan is to have her help me labor at home as much as possible since I wanted to reduce the likelihood of medical interventions. I also asked they she capture some photos for us. Marisol explained that we should not contact her right away if labor starts in the middle of the night, only call when ready. She kept stressing this point and even emailed me a document that says to only call when we are ready for her to come. A couple of weeks later I go into labor late one night. My labor progressed quickly and we called Marisol when we wanted her to come over, no answer. I then texted her. A short time later I told her we were headed to the hospital. Labor pains got so intense that I was not able to monitor my phone so my husband and Marisol were texting. Labor pains were so intense so I requested an epidural at the hospital. Once Marisol got this information , she assumed she had more time. I guess she didn't take into account that that epidural was not completed. Long story short, she didn't make her way to the hospital until after the kid was born. Per her contract, she had 90 minutes to get to me. My labor was quick but she had a 3 hour heads up. I was actually disappointed that she came to the hospital because now it feels like a random acquaintance just showed up for one of the biggest days of your life and now you have to entertain them. She stayed with us until we got transferred to our postpartum room. At this point, Marisol was not a part of my birth story at all and I was angry. A couple days later I immediately requested a partial refund. She denied my request saying she was "available." Instead she offered me one additional 3 hour postpartum visit. I didn't accept that and said we could discuss this matter when she did her postpartum visit. During the visit, Marisol said she could tell that I "felt some type of way" and she asked me to share my feelings. I told her I felt cheated, I'm out a lot of money and she didn't have to do anything. It was her choice to not come to me right away, I followed all of her instructions. Marisol then told me she was actually on her way to me but she needed time to shower, clean her doula supplies and pack her doula bag. Once she heard about the epidural, she returned home to pack snacks. This information infuriated me....she missed my birth for this?!?! This is an area where you don't get a do over. I would imagine that with the nature of this job you would always have your supplies clean and ready. She ended up offering me 12 postpartum hours. I told her that was not what I wanted since I didn't want to think of things for her to help me with. In plus, it's easy to get help during the day. I ended up requesting my money back and threatening legal action since she breached her own contract. In the end she agreed to return 1/2 of my money ($1400) and I was able to avoid legal action. (I didn't mind taking legal action, this was an open and shut case according to the guidance I received). I'd say she still came out ahead, $1400 for 2 short visits to my house and a short 45 minute visit to the hospital after my kid was born. I am beyond bummed about this experience. So yes, I still "feel some type of way!" I'm not sure how you could say you were available yet you missed the birth. And I still can't comprehend the rationale. I'm so confused.
