I contacted Stephanie Ireland of Goldberg & Osborne because I was referred to her by a colleague. i was competition cyclist, and violinist, and was involved in a vehicle/bicycle accident 08/31/2013 in which i was riding my bike home from work, and i was hit by a car crossing a driveway one block from my residence, resulting in a compound distal humerus fracture (broken elbow). I, at the time, had a personal attorney that in one year, didn't even contact the individual who hit me with his vehicles insurance company. I then knew it was time for me to seek out other options. I stopped in to Stephanie Ireland's office. They set up an appointment, and the facts of loss were taken immediately by her assistant Catherine Lemon. I really felt as if they cared shout my well being, and felt as if they really wanted to help me. I would say, after all of the loss information was provoded, and the insureds insurance company was contacted, 4 months out, a settlement was met. My medical bills were in the $120,000 range, even after I refused continuing service because I had no medical insurance at the time (no PT, no more doctors visits, no more follow ups etc...) Stephanie Ireland and her staff negotiated with Maricopa integrated heath system down to $54,000. I was granted the insured liability limit of $100,000. Not only that, but Stephanie Ireland reduced her fees from 33%, down to 25%, so she and I left with the same amount. Before the payment was eben issued to me, she even assited me with $3,000 in a loan that would be deduducted from the settlement proceeds when things got tight for me fincially. Anyway... My mother got into a bad accident a few years ago, involving someone on drugs. They happily took the case and a few months later, won the case! However G&O took every bit of the money they won, around 35k. My mother even had to pay for some of the medications, never being reimbursed. She got a check for around 1.5k, which after the medical bills, meds and damage to her car, didn't amount to anything. I was in an accident a year ago (rear ended with minimal damage, but tweaked my wrist and back.) I went to PT for a few months and just dealt with insurance myself and received a settlement of 28k. I have to say I have never in my life had to deal with such a lack of professionalism in an attorney in my life. I have a personal injury case with them and I dread having to talk to this woman ever. She has this bad habit of talking down to people and thinking that she can dictate what's going to happen with your case. She, in my opinion, has lost site of the fact that every case that is on her desk is of a person she is employed by and for. She has the audacity to tell me that she doesn't want me to email her anymore asking about a status of her case because I wouldn't agree to the "settlement" she came up with. I was hit from behind on the freeway in rush hour traffic while sitting still. My car was totaled and I essentially lost my job because I was out of work for 4 months. It was the other person's fault and they had good insurance. My attorney (Doug Settel) and his staff, at the Mesa office, were accommodating for the most part but seemed to not put much effort into my case. I got money for my car ( I owned it) and my medical expenses for the 4 months. That was all great! The issue I had was that it seemed like I was pushed into signing the deal the attorney came up with. He said the deal was pretty much the best he could have done. I am still dealing with my injuries and I could not replace my car with the moeny I received. I have struggled to make ends meet since then and have never really recovered from the "down time". I am not "sue happy" and I don't approve of those who work the system but I feel like I got the short end of everything! Many people I know of had far less at stake and fewer medical issues than I and they walked away with much more than I did...I mean tens of thousands more. Maybe the firm didn't make enough money from my case or it is just a numbers game to them. I would not recommend this firm to anyone.
