I'm not at this particular Golden 1 often, but the other day, I stopped in for services only a personal basket could help with. I actually had a scheduled appointment at 11:30 a.m. but with my work schedule, I had to see if I could get in sooner. As the bank opened its doors, there I was, ready to get down to business. Daniel was there to help me. I told him about my appointment, and he made sure to cancel it for me. It's nice to know on top of being able to schedule an appointment through the app, there is also a personal banker there for walk ins that need help. Daniel was very through about the information I needed and the information I needed to present. I had full confidence that he was the perfect person to talk to. After a phone call, being placed on hold, then gathering up some signatures, and faxing off my info, we were finally finished. The longest part was just us waiting on hold, but he was quick with the paperwork and as for the final outcome.. we were able to make everything official and it reflected in my account within about 5 business days. I recommend coming to this branch and speaking with Daniel if you have any questions about financing. He is very smart and I walked away feeling more confident (than before) about the business we discussed. read more

I've been a member of Golden 1 for 30 years. Earlier this month, I was scammed by someone impersonating a sheriffs officer. I immediately reported it. They said that they sent a verification text regarding the transaction and I replied yes. This is complete and absolute lie. I never responded to the text. So now they said that I will not be getting my money back and they will not investigate the scam. I am so disappointed by the tactics of this banking institution and soon I will be closing my account and moving on. Shame on you, Golden1. You lost a good customer. read more

Golden 1 recently did a huge upgrade to their mobile banking. The transition was not smooth and I found myself unable to log into my acct. Customer service on the phone was not helpful and had long wait times so I went to the local branch. Brandon L. was exceptional. He fixed all the login issues and helped explain the new app set up to us. He was patient and kind and answered all our questions. So even though the updated system had issues which were not great the in person service we received was amazing. read more

I have been contemplating how to write this review, so here I go. Yes, we live in another state, and will always keep our accounts with Golden 1. However, we decided to do our transactions from this branch rather than go to the closer branch in Susanville. An hour and 41 minutes, with a few slow downs, we arrived just after 1:45 pm. The employee that was monitoring the flow of customers from the outside, instructed my hubby to stand in the teller line. We needed to wire to the title company, and the tellers can take care of these transactions. However, the reception area where customers sign in had a few people waiting to be called. Two tellers working the counter, and about four customers in front of us. When we finally arrive to the teller, telling her we wanted to do a wire transfer, she decides to put our name in the "que" because she didn't want to back up the line since there were only two tellers... Hubby is furious!!!!!!! So we go back and sit in the reception area.... Hubby is fuming, mumbling under his mask.... the employee at the door is still out there, and controlling the customers coming in... Ten minutes later... I finally get up, and ask the employee to make sure we are in the "que"... he says we are next and we will be called.... Maybe he could feel the steam of my hubby, but says he will go ahead and help us, and apologized for the wait. In the end, he apologized for the wait, and also gave us his business card, (he was the branch manager)... Obviously there is a lack of communication, or training, because the teller turned us away, and the manager assumed the teller would take care of our transaction. Let's just say I ended up going straight back home, because of this. Unfortunately, the long drive back we had a very lengthy discussion/argument over what transpired.. They had three tellers and a line out of the door. One of the tellers decided to have a long chat with a customer about that persons dog with a whole lot of people waiting. The other was in a long winded transaction that was still going on after I left. The lazy teller I had could not figure out my account number even though she had my license in her hand. She wanted my social security number. Really? In fact, she moved so slowly I thought she was going to stall. Badly run branch and not representative of this place. Let me start this off by saying the only reason I'm giving this review five stars is because ten stars is not an option. My long story begins with me purchasing my very first car from a dealership over the weekend. Since G1 is closed on the day I bought it, the dealership was gracious enough to allow me a "Three Days, One Pay" option to get my car financed with my chosen lienholder. That very entity being Golden 1. I've dealt with the Auburn branch for years regarding all my needs, but here is where my regular experience turned stellar. Lexi took me in a very timely manner (without a previously set appointment, mind you) and guided me through the entire process of doing a purchase loan. She took all the information I had on hand and entered it into the system; and even though I had to leave in the middle of our session, she had everything still saved so we could pick right back where we had to leave things after I got off work. Not only that, but anything Lexi did not immediately know, she triple checked with the branch manager Roberto. He was informative and very patient with both of us since the process did take until after the branch had closed. Not only did Lexi and Roberto take great care of me for the day I was there, providing me with the purchase check to send to my dealership in record timing, not only was Lexi incredibly friendly and kind, but the entire process of being there saved me over ONE THOUSAND dollars that I no longer will have to pay in interest on my car loan. Don't just bank with Golden 1. Go to the Auburn branch. It's worth the time. read more

The lines are often long, especially 11:00 to 2:00. No one inquires about your business. So you stand in line to see the teller even if you want a loan. You need an appointment to set up an auto bill pay. They always seem to be having technical difficulties with the computer. read more

Golden 1 Credit Union should be avoided if customer service is important and you value your hard earned money. To begin with, we chose Golden 1 as our bank/savings as well as our mortgage believing they were a community based institution that valued their customers. Sadly, that was not our experience. To date, Golden 1 has erroneously taken out property taxes twice for a $10,000 over payment. Four months including 45 calls with numerous hours of telephone trees and holding later and filing of federal and state complaints, Golden 1 finally reimbursed the $10,000 double payment. My argument that a lot of folks can't withstand the erroneous withholding of $10,000 for four months made no impact on Golden 1. It simply was a careless bureaucracy who failed to acknowledge and correct their mistake. Last month, Golden 1 again took a double payment out of our account, this time $4,000 mortgage payment. Here we go again with numerous calls and complaints to federal and state agencies to recoup the $4,000. Good bye Golden 1, you simply are not worth the hassle. read more

Wow! Simply W.O.W! This is THEE WORST Golden1 Branch I have ever visited!!! There were 3 people waiting to be seen by a rep who needed assistance other than general banking. They signed their names on a list...but NO ONE approached them for well over 30 minutes! This is a small bank - there were 3 - THREE women sitting in cubicles other than the tellers. Only ONE of those women were helping those on the list but she was training someone? WTF! The other two - who were not helping anyone - just sat on their ass ignoring those who waited. No one made any effort to explain why there was such a wait - they just sat on their assess!!! After 45" I decided to wait in line for an actual teller just so I could express my frustration. No help - seriously bad customer service. Who the hell is managing this place?! Run, do not walk, to Sacto for better service! read more

This is the first time we came here today right away I noticed a very long line I counted if was 14 and only 2 tellers working I was really surprised that they didn't have more people working here especially on a weekend the establishment was very clean and organized but what got to me was at the end to girls who worked there where standing around talking you would think they open up 2 more lines to make the line up faster nope they stood around and kept talking after almost waiting for about 10 minutes a 3 teller finally opened up a line My advice to this location would to be have more tellers working especially on a Friday when it's going to be busy it's not fair for customers to have to wait in a long line when they have stuff to do so maybe instead of your two girls talking you should have them take care of the line next time just say it didn't look good at all read more

We use another credit union- looked to see if Golden 1 was in our CO-OP and it is. We went on Saturday to do a withdrawal (larger than daily ATM), stood in line for 20-25 minutes only to be told CO-OP withdrawals are only done during the week. When we asked why wasn't that posted (lots of signage boasting about being a CO-OP all over!) and we where snarkly told "it's on our website". Customer next to us- said "I hate this place, it's turned into Wells Fargo". So luckily we don't bank there! read more

This is the slowest bank I have ever used. Every time you go into the lobby to conduct business with a teller you might as well be prepared to wait. I don't know if they're process is ridiculous or what but try not to go inside if you don't have to. Useless bankers won't help either. read more

After making payments greater than required and sometimes a month early, I receive a late notice for December. Each time I make a payment I use the appropriate slip from the payment book. I thought banks are stringent on detail, Obviously not. Now I will need to spent a good deal of time getting them to understand that I am the customer they want to keep happy and not harass with late notices. read more

This is being overly generous. 1 1/2 stars would be more accurate. This "financial institution" is the embodiment of inefficiency. I began going during Covid to pay off my car loan, and I understand why they weren't hitting on all cylinders back then. But now? They should take a lesson from Wells Fargo just up the street. With two tellers, the line swelled to 10 people and it took me 30 minutes just to make a simple 90-second car payment. Then when I finally got to the teller (who was also the branch manager) it took 10 minutes. I asked why? "Well, our entire computer system crashed and it had to be rebooted. Nothing I could do." That's my entire point! Of course there's something you could do: Get rid of software from 2015 and step into 2023. And both tellers were very adroit with chitchatting with the patrons. If no one else is in line, fine. But we don't care about your--or theirs--personal life. Try and act professional, capiche? read more

He took the time to review how I bank and which of their services would fit for an easy transition over to Golden1. Awful service from Phoenix. She acted like us depositing money in someone's account was a head ache for her and she was condescending the whole time. We had to deposit over 1000 dollars in another persons account and apparently the policy is you can only deposit up to 1000 dollars in another members account. This must be a new policy because I have been to plenty of golden 1 locations from Sacramento to Roseville and I have always been able to make large deposits. When I asked her why we couldn't deposit over 1000 she just kept saying it's the policy. An explanation would be nice. Then she made a big deal about having to deposit the money in my own account then she could deposit it in the other persons account. I won't be back to that location and will probably stop doing business with Golden 1 all together. There are plenty of other credit unions who are friendly and happy to serve their customers. read more

This is a good bank with a variety of standard services available to clients. They fall in the category between a large non client oriented bank like Wells Fargo or BofA and a small town bank like El Dorado Savings. Tellers are professional, but the thick plexiglas cage they are in is a bit prison like. The Auburn site does not have facilities for safe deposit boxes, so if you are looking for a place to stash your bullion this is not the place. The banking staff there will always be helpful, but for some items they won't or can't get involved. Rules are rules you know. All and all they provide good all around banking services, but aren't as willing to help if your project is complicated. Bottom line. A great general services bank. read more

I deposited a fairly large check {over $5k} here on a couple of occasions from a trusted 401K acct. I gave them verification paper work and everything they needed to verify it was NOT a counterfeit check but they held the check on BOTH occasions for the FULL 7 biz days even though, on both occasions, they received the funds from my 401K acct the day after the deposit. They CAN fund the check earlier its up to their discretion. I have been a cust since 2007 but I am still treated like a potential risk cust off the street. Terrible cust service here.You cant even get the phone # of a specific branch all calls are to the corporate HQ. My wife changed our regular bank to my work credit union, wow what a difference. Steer clear of these guys. read more

Would not talk with my bank about whether or not a check had cleared. My bank, a medium sized one, based in California said it has never happened to them before that another bank or CU has not extended "Banking Courtesy" to them. I had to get them on a conference call with my bank and the check writer just to vrify that the check had cleared. They would not even allow the check writer to give them permission to talk to the bank, it had to be a conference call. read more
