I ordered the moo goo gai pan which is my usual test of whether I put it on my list or not. The place isnt much on the inside, with a couple of people hanging around talking on their phones. You can't see the kitchen at all. They even draw a little curtain so there's no peeking, which is a turn off. However, the food was good. Lots of mushrooms, but nothing exotic. No baby corn, which may be in the chicken and vegetables. But overall good. The white rice was as expected and there wasn't a lot of oil. read more

I've decided all Chinese restaurants taste the same, this one is no different. Located behind Ollie's; this location was not serving dine-in but has tables perhaps pre-Covid. The most memorable point was the goldfish tank in lobby. The food was small Gen Tai chicken & spicy shrimp small for $13.98. When I lived in Florence, Golden Dragon was my favorite place for Chinese. I no longer live there, but I was recently in the area and my husband and I decided to pick up some plates of food and remember just how much we loved it. If you like a lot of food for a cheap price, Golden Dragon is the best value in town. Is it the best Chinese food I've ever had? No, but it's as good as you'll get in Florence. The "lunch specials" are applicable all day long, and you can customize them. Normally, they include pork fried rice, 2 wings, and an egg roll. Want a spring roll instead of an egg roll? You got it. Want an extra spring roll instead of 2 wings? You got it. Want plain fried rice instead of pork? That's right, you can do that too. Two people can easily eat for under $20 here and have leftovers on the plate- or you can share a lunch special and possibly have enough food. I really like the shrimp in lobster sauce and the spring rolls, but you just can't go wrong with Golden Dragon. THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN FLORENCE! Need I say more? Having grown up in the NJ/NY area, we had great Chinese food....this is exactly like that. From the Chow Mein, Lo Mein, Egg Foo Young, Mongolian Beef, and all the specialty dishes to the Hot and Sour Soup, it's just delicious. The Crab Wontons, seemed dumplings are outstanding. We have eaten in the restaurant and had take out..the quality is the same. Okay the Boneless Chicken and the fried pork wontons are awesome . But the service is terrible. We didn't get checked on after our food arrived. We even had to call her over and when she got to the table all she said was "boxes?" We actually needed more drinks and rice. And our table didn't cleared until another server cam to get some of our empty dishes out of the way. This hole in the wall was a small blessing in disguise. We were doing a pit stop here on our way back to Raleigh, NC. The building itself was very old, but the food made up for it. They let you order lunch specials all day which is a perk because they are low in price. I got the egg drop soup which was relish and huge! I also got the schezuan shrimp extra spicy and it comes with a Shrimp spring roll and 2 wings and ham fried rice which was different. The best Chinese food I've had in years! I grew up on Chinese food, but South Carolina is a black hole for Chinese cuisine. We were traveling through Florence and my wife really wanted some, so we found this place on Yelp. What a tremendous surprise! I was skeptical-despite the good reviews-given my previous experiences with Asian food in SC, but I was hungry. The ambiance is very pleasant and a little old school, not like the crappy places where you walk up to the counter and there are pictures of the dishes. The service was excellent! Very accommodating and very warm. The food was phenomenal and we fed our family with small children for a little over $40 and we probably have 2-3 more meals of leftovers. The chicken low mein, sweet and sour chicken and Sesame chicken were all delicious! Very moist, very well flavored without the MSG you sometimes find at places. The wings and egg rolls were not greasy and the fried rice was not over done. Get the shrimp fried rice. It's worth the upgrade. The wonton soup is a great way to warm up and the hot tea washed down our meals splendidly. Great for families, too! I'll be back! read more

I was about to just give up on good Chinese food in the area and become a taco aficionado, because as we all know, where there's a taco, there's tequila. Just give me a good Cashew Chicken and some wanton soup and I'm happy. That's exactly what this place did. The portions were generous, the food was hot and fresh, and they even threw in extra fortune cookies. The takeout portions made two good meals for me. I also ordered the Teriyaki Chicken as an appetizer. It was equally impressive. If the food is great, then I put a restaurant in rotation. I like being a creature of habit. This restaurant provides me with the perfect comfort food. I have been back at least once every other week since my first visit. I have not tried dining in so I can't say anything about the service. There is always a line at the takeout register, which for me says good things about the repeat business here. One thing I would say is that you definitely want to pick up your order. I tried Delivery Doctor once and the experience was terrible. This was not a reflection on the restaurant. They are completely independent of the delivery service. I've been here a few times and also ordered take out from here a few times. I prefer ordering take out because the service can be a little slow sometimes. The staff is exceptionally friendly so I didn't really mind having to wait so much but if you were in a hurry you'd probably want to consider just ordering food to go. The building they're in is fairly old and I wouldn't really recommend using their restrooms unless you have to. They're clean, just very old (the toilet takes a few tries to actually flush). Their menu is ridiculously huge (in a good way unless you're super indecisive). They offer their lunch menu all day which is great because you can get an entree, fried rice, an egg roll and 2 chicken wings all for 6-8 dollars. I generally order their Chicken with Cashew Nuts (amazingly delicious) with white rice and I usually have enough food left over for another meal the next day. They offer healthy menu options too that usually include steamed vegetables and meats. I've had their chicken and broccoli and it was delicious. Their egg rolls are fairly average and their ham fried rice isn't spectacular which is why I order the white rice when I get their lunch combos. I personally really enjoyed their dumplings. There are a lot of things I still want to try from here so I'll be going back, just likely for take out rather than dining in. read more

Not only that, it was some of the best Americanized Chinese food I've ever eaten!! I ate way too much and only had a few bites left, but couldn't bear to let it go to waste so took a snack home. Service was okay, it was pretty dead inside I guess because it was still pretty early on New Year's Day (around 1pm) so I'm sure most were still recovering haha but I look forward to returning next time I'm in the area. If you just go here for the food it's average Americanized Chinese food. It's fairly cheap and or reasonable. The quality of the food can be on the greasy side. The wings are always good but small in size. I always get my food to go because the inside of the restaurant is in need of repair. The building has changed hands throughout the years with no construction over halls which are desperately needed. I avoid the bathrooms for the smell and disrepair when I'm onsite.
