There are lots of reasons to exit the interstate right in the middle of nowhere, but on this day leading up to the Memorial Day Weekend it seems most were pulling over for the same reason, some dashing, some hobbling but all were making their way to the facilities located quite aways from the parking area depending on where you were able to find an open space. From the condition of the restrooms it's apparent they did get their share of use this fine Friday afternoon, whew this is not a place to linger or touch anything - this is why wet wipes were invented. Well at least there weren't any long lines with one exception. There was this one gentleman that a small crowd had gathered around in the parking lot parallel to the building housing the restrooms as he so proudly proclaimed to have some of the best if not the best Georgia grown peaches and today he was willing to part with them for $5.00 a bucket, it's actually a small carton but no use in splitting hairs with this old guy, this side show pickup truck business was thriving as people stood in line with their fist filled with dollar bills to get their hands on some of these juicy ripened fruits at what seemed to be a bargain price. Well I can't say I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facilities but them peaches were pretty tasty although a little pricey in my opinion, but this review is based on the rest area itself since the unlicensed vendors only shows up occasionally for a short while I'm sure as do the attendances who get paid to clean this place... read more

If you are stopping at the Golden Isles Rest Area to use a clean restroom then you aren't stopping for the right reason. Why? Well for one the restrooms haven't ever really been that clean; probably about average clean for a highway rest area. But the main reason you should stop by the Golden Isles Rest Area is to admire the Brunswick Stew Memorial! That's right folks it's a memorial statue dedicated to the first pot of Brunswick Stew. Then when you are done with that head on into St. Simons to Southern Soul BBQ for the best Brunswick Stew in the area. read more

Golden Isles Rest Area, technically Georgia Rest Area #150 located in Glynn County, is a large well maintained rest area. It has plenty of acreage to it for walking along with a good number of sheltered picnic tables. The one drawback I found was the walking distance from the handicapped area to the restrooms. As I was traveling with a handicapped person attempt to walk with my assistance, the good 200 yard plus walk, which took us 45 minutes each way to traverse; a little bit much. The central visitor area is nicely appointed, the staff is friendly as well as knowledgeable and the place is pack with every piece and kind of information one might need to plan a holiday in Georgia. read more

A nice rest area and welcome center on I-95 South. The restrooms are better maintained than many. The welcome center has information about Brunswick, Georgia, and the Golden Isles region. I like the Brunswick Stew marker here, a nice regional touch. Ample parking and picnic and pet areas. read more

This is the best Roadside rest I've encountered. Beautifully decorated, well maintined, friendly, helpfull staff. Large parking lot, Large grassy area. I did feel the vending machines were too expeneive but no problem I had a cooler full of sodas. read more

Of all the rest areas I've stopped in through Georgia, this has to be the best one I have encountered on Interstate 95 South. This rest area has plenty of parking and they were many covered picnic tables for sitting and eating as well. Even though this rest area wasn't at the state line, it was staffed with a full visitors center. Although I wasn't looking for something in particular, I told her what the plan was and she gave me a bunch of info for St. Simon's Island. Overall, this was a great rest area. If you are passing through here, you should definitely stop in. read more

This place is AWFUL. No overnight parking and the attendants are all fidgety and agitated. Very strange vibes here...

A man had a heart attack here on Friday the 11 of May. They did not have a defibrillator to help him, my husband and another man did CPR until the ambulance came, 12 minute later, he passed. Every rest stop should have a defibrillator. I hope this will cause them to get them. read more
