I've never come here without a booking. The restaurant part is small and dark with a fireplace at one end and is close to the bar (as is every room). The main area has multiple TVs and is geared towards drink as much as food. There is a small area off to one side with a large screen TV set up like a living room which is always full of people relaxing and watching the TV when I pop by. The food here is fantastic always and although sometimes it isn't perfect it's always created with care. The menu doesn't vary too much and there are a few starters and a few mains and there is a slightly different lunch menu here. I'm always here with 3 other people and we always enjoy our meals. The desserts are pretty standard but the starters and mains can be different. Service isn't always instant but where is in a pub? You'll not have to wait long and you'll get some lovely hot bread with butter and oil & balsamic vinegar for dipping. The owner is often pottering around and you are as likely to have her take your order as one of the staff. Worth the trip out into the middle of nowhere :-)

All in all, a great place and a real step up from a bar meal that you'd expect in a pub with a restaurant, hence my opening description.

It's really well decked out inside. It's been refurbished but it has still kept that traditional, village pub feel which is so important in these types of places. It's also apparently haunted and many locals claim to have seen some spooky goings on here. They do one of the best Sunday lunches here aswell, with your standard choice of meats. Last time I checked that was £6.99 but that may well have changed. Really friendly bar staff here, and there's always good banter to be had with them and the regulars. It's one of those increasingly rare places these days where there's never any trouble, everyone seems to know each and get along, and there's an all round, homely relaxed vibe here. There's a pool table, dart board and a large seating area here too and although still cosy, there's always plenty of space here. This is where I'd normally write my main gripes and faults but I genuinely can't think of any! Full marks.

There's a lovely outdoor seating area which is a spacious, chilled out place to enjoy a sunny day. It's close proximity to Monknash beach also make it an ideal pit stop after a day by the seaside. I went in about two hours ago for a pint of Butty Bach, which is brewed in the Wye Valley. It's a fantastic, strong bitter and one I always have when visiting here. The odd celebrity has been spotted within these walls and it's not at all difficult to see why. In the local area, the Plough and Harrow is truly one of the finest traditional pubs.

There's no loud music or slot machines to be found here. Instead there are open fires, delicious meaty aromas and that summery smell of spilt cider from the bar. The staff are exceptionally friendly and show a great amount of attention to detail. The food in The Plough and Harrow is delectable. Really.
