My daughter has developed more anxiety with swimming after attending Goldfish Swim School. The establishment continues to charge monthly fees and hold strictly to their 30 day cancellation policy regardless of how the child feels or if they've had a terrible experience. The classes are scheduled for 30 minutes, however, the actual lesson time is only 24 minutes and shared with 3-4 other swimmers. 5-6 mins is deducted to brief parents on child's progress afterwards. Within 4 minutes of briefing from the instructors, the children will share 20 mins of water time which averages 5 min true practice for each swimmer. My daughter who is very afraid of learning to swim, had finally mustered up courage to take swim classes. On the second lesson, her head sunk under water, that started to give her anxiety about her classes. On her 3rd visit she witnessed the instructor speaking harshly with an 8 year old swimmer that was crying the entire time during the lesson. She began to get nervous about her lessons and refused to go back. I spoke with Goldfish and they offered to change instructor to try to make things right. At this lesson, her head sunk under again. My daughter explained she's just not comfortable with how they teach, the lessons move too fast and doesn't give her enough chance to learn and understand before they start practicing in the water. Inhaling the water is terrifying for her and she refuses to continue. Goldfish promised they'd make things right, but they still charged us a full month plus the one week that we did not use. That's $160 I'm forced to pay after they've failed to help ease my daughter's fear of the water and added to her anxiety and fear. In fact, they failed in their promise/advertisement to help a child feel at ease in the water I later learned a friend had a similar experience with her daughter at Goldfish and she recommended a different school. This establishment is not sincere and compassionate with the handling of youths. I do not recomend. read more

Our daughter just stopped swim lessons there but she/we had a great experience. Her instructors were patient and motivating to help develop the skills she needed to be safe in the water. We appreciated the updates and progress report at the end of each lesson. It's expensive but I feel you get what you paid for. Not at all what I expected. Way too crowded and impersonal for us. The instructor didn't even ask for my sons name on the first day and it seemed like a factory line the way swim lessons take place here. I couldn't hear anything the instructor was saying with how loud it was in there. They have every lane filled and sometimes lanes even divided in half with 2 lessons taking place at once. Not much time in the water with the instructor for the price. It seems like they are solely interested in making the most money as possible. Nothing else. Facility is okay and they have potential to be great, but need to focus more on quality. Especially with welcoming new families to the facility. One positive-- In comparison with other pools it seems to be a comfortable temperature. read more

The swim school is very nice for the under 6 and timid children. I have a 10 year old with Autism that I felt could use technical instruction. He could swim a little but not with any specific form. The instructors almost always tried to hold him like one holds a toddler in the water. They even "placed" him to sit at the edge of the pool. I explained several x my son is annoyed being treated like a baby. He is definitely tall enough to stand up and maneuver around the pool. I think the school must be too used to little ones or are instructed to hold onto kids that way. 4 months later, my son hates going. He isn't proficient because he hates the way he is taught. My timid daughter however seems fine with the method and has gained ability. read more

My kids attend Goldfish Swim School (GSS) for lessons during the week. My 5 year old loves his swim classes and my 3 year old is warming up to them slowly. The swim teachers are great and very patient with my water averse 3 year old. The business space is basically split between a heated pool area and a viewing/changing area. Both the water and the pool area are kept in the 80 degree range so kids are comfortable in the pool as well as when they get out. There's a shower station with soap available so kids can get cleaned up after they're done swimming. There's a large glass wall with rows of chairs where parents can watch classes, check email on their phones, chat with other parents or just have a few minutes of peace and quiet. Adjacent to the viewing area is space for changing into or out of swimsuits with clothes dryers, bathrooms and blow dryers. It is all very well laid out, convenient and organized. So, I've established that I am pleased with my family's experience at GSS. But they earned their 5 star review this weekend... If you've got young kids, you know how tiring planning and executing kiddie birthday parties within the Birthday Party Industrial Complex can be and with my 5 year old's birthday looming, we were trying to figure out where we could have a birthday party that wasn't already played out by all the other kid parties; a place where we and our guests wouldn't be completely grossed out by the cleanliness (or lack there of); and a place where both adults and kids would be able to enjoy themselves for a couple of hours. As it happens, GSS does birthday parties where you essentially rent out a two hour block of time (Saturday afternoon in our case.) My son and his guests and all the associated adults had a great time. The pool, which is normally cordoned off into swimming lanes was opened up into one large swimming area. There were tons of pool toys and preservers for all the kids. Some adults chose to spend time in the pool or pool area and some stayed on the viewing side closer to the food and refreshments without having to worry as there were GSS teachers serving as life guards for the kids. After pooltime was over, the kids were able to get dried off, cleaned up and changed into normal clothes for food and cake. The GSS staff were very attentive and helpful with the party and the kids and hung around after the party to help us load our car with party leftovers and gifts. I think everyone had a great time, including the adults. Also, an unexpected bonus: Usually after birthday parties kids are wired from all the sugar-laden treats and birthday cake. But after the GSS party, my boys both passed out within a few minutes of getting home. Once you've been to a few kiddie birthday parties, you'll understand how awesome this is for a parent. read more

This is a great swim school, which is completely geared towards young kids. My 3-yr-old granddaughter was comfortable from the start. The water and the room are kept warm and her instructor is wonderful. The perks include showers in the pool area, private dressing rooms, hair dryers, a fish tank with turtles, cubbies, and seating next to the full window to watch the lessons. Oh, and, a spinner thing to put the wet bathing suit in to dry it. All the employees are super nice. I have nothing negative to say at all. read more

My experience was not the best after 1 class I decided this was not for my child. Honestly I can save money, and teach her myself. The cost is $83 for 4 lessons a month during that time she would get 15 minutes to spend with the instructor. If another kid was in the class it would be 10 mins. She is comfortable in water, and I realized this was a waste of our time and money. My other thing is when I called to start I told them I could not start until a certain date, but they told me I could use them as make ups. Now that I am canceling I have to wait 30 days, and pay more when if I had started when I wanted this would be less costly for me. Too crowded for me. Not a bad place, but not worth it if your child does not need it. read more

Our twins started at goldfish in fall 2016 when they were 2.5 years old. The facility and my twins' teacher have been great. On the other hand, some of the front desk staff does not seem very knowledgeable when answering questions about scheduling. We had a particular negative experience this week. A few days ago, a staff member called us to see if we were interested in moving the twins to the next level. So we decided to go ahead and advance them up, and thought everything was fine. Today, someone else called us, and asked us the same question. I said I thought we had already done that a few days ago. She put me on hold, and then came back and told me we were never moved up, and those spots that were available are now unavailable. So now, we have to stop the twins' swim lessons because those spots are gone. Obviously, we are unhappy with the situation. Lesson for others: make sure you double and triple check that your kids are scheduled appropriately. Management needs to do a better job of educating their staff about handling customer issues/relations. read more

Goldfish Swim is the cutest little swim school I've seen! I sent an inquiry online and received an email and a voicemail same day. We decided to go in and look around before committing and I am so glad we did. We were met by 1 of the owners who gave us a tour - she did not seem rushed at all which is rare for an owner. It was nice to feel like I was a priority over all else. We spoke about how my son would advance and what to expect each lesson. She was very open to when my son could start, due to summer vacations we needed to put off his first lesson a couple of weeks. I am very excited to start at Goldfish!! read more

Goldfish Swim School - Dublin has been an amazing place to take my daughters. My youngest (5 years old) had dozens of private lessons at another facility and refused to even take her first strokes on her own. It ended up being a complete waste of money there. At Goldfish she has been encouraged to not only swim her first strokes, but within just a few months of weekly lessons has learned to swim on her own using all strokes and underwater. She loves it! I see improvement each time she goes. My oldest daughter did a week of jump start classes and her confidence and skills in the water improved drastically as well. Open swim is available to all members and their families giving them extra time each week to practice their skills. So your monthly dues go not only towards your lessons but all the open swims that, in my opinion, you should try to use to maximize your results and your money spent. We have tried all sorts of extra-curricular activities around this area with less than impressive results for our money. Hands-down Goldfish is worth it! Lessons start on time each week, our teacher has never missed a class, scheduling make-up classes is easy and accommodating, and best of all my child loves to go! read more

Goldfish is def worth the money! I had my son in swim lessons for over a year at another facility and in just 3 lessons at Goldfish he is actually swimming! This is something that the other facility could not accomplish within a year of lessons. The water is 90 degrees so my son is never freezing when he exits the pool. They also have very nice changing areas and blow dryers. There are also several things for the little siblings to do during lessons which is really appreciated. My daughter would be cawing the walls while watching my son before. We also LOVE the staff! They are always so friendly and sweet with my son. My daughter has been taking lessons at Goldfish Swim School in Dublin for just over three months but after the first lesson she was hooked!! The instructors are phenomenal and we have found the staff to always be more than friendly and accommodating. I have had to change classes a number of times due to vacations and other obligations and the staff has been really helpful and easy to work with to make class changes as well as makeup lessons. Their makeup policy is wonderful as we have never taken lessons anywhere with a makeup policy and I have found it to be very flexible. We also had my daughter's birthday party at Goldfish and it was so fun and very easy for me... No hassles, no worries! All of the attending families were totally impressed and the children all had a blast with the staff running the games. Overall I will say the lessons are completely worth every penny and the smile on my daughter's face as she is now confident in her swimming at goldfish and at the neighborhood pools this summer! Cute and pricey. My 3 year old has been going weekly for about 3 months, Class sizes are small, no bigger than 5 kiddos at a time. Its amazing to see his progress. The pool and pool area is heated to 75+ degrees which is nice. There's a ledge for the kids to sit on while they wait their turn with the teacher and a bench for parents if they want to sit near the pool. The main seating is behind clear glass so you can see everything that's going on. They also have two lifeguards walking around in addition to the teachers who are in the pool with the kiddos. read more

Having been a nationally competitive synchronized swimmer for more than 10 years, I'm very picky about swim lessons. My 7-year-old daughter has been taking lessons weekly at Goldfish for about a year now, and we couldn't be happier! Their program is well-structured, and their facilities are clearly designed with kids in mind. The entire atmosphere is incredibly fun and safe. From colorful murals, to the blue bowl at the main counter that always has small (free) goodies in it, to the showers, changing rooms, and hair drying stations, every detail has clearly been well thought out. Scheduling is always quick and easy, and their cancellation and make-up policies make the program flexible. The instructors are very patient with the kids. My daughter can be very shy, and they always seem to get her to come out of her shell. And I've seen many children who were afraid of the water be gently coaxed in by their instructors. They frequently hand out ribbons for a job well done, which my daughter is always very proud of. And most importantly, she's made great strides in her swimming abilities. I appreciate that the class sizes are very small, and that they call parents in for the last few minutes of the lesson and individually tell us about our child's progress that day. I can't adequately express my gratitude and adoration for Goldfish Swim School in Dublin. From the moment you walk in to the facility, to the moment you leave, the service is greater than any business I have ever experienced. What I believe makes Goldfish truly exceptional is their approach to teaching children how to swim, their water safety instruction, and their small class sizes. Prior to Goldfish our children had been in private lessons and group lessons for years, and they were still unable to swim without life jackets. However, after one month at Goldfish they were swimming laps. I now have 3 strong swimmers in a matter of months. I tell everyone who will listen, "Goldfish gave us the gift of being able to approach water activities with a spirit of fun rather than a spirit of fear." I could never repay them for what they have given to us. read more

At first glance, this place was exactly what we were looking for. A fun colorful environment with a warm indoor pool and lessons/swim toys geared towards our 15 month old. Unfortunately .... after the first lesson, the novelty wore off. First of all, this place is WAY overpriced. $80 per month -- which equates to $20 per 30 minute session. Which, at our daughter's age, equates to $20 per 30 minutes of splashing in some water with one parent. After re-evaluating, we realized that our entire family could join Premier athletic club (which has both an indoor and outdoor pool as well as all other gym amenities) for just $90 per month, and the whole family can spend as much time (on any day of the week) in the pool as our little hearts desire. Which leads to my next complaint -- the class time options are very limited, particularly on the weekends, and seem to be scheduled very strategically for the middle of nap time. What's more, they don't offer any classes at all on Mondays and only afternoon classes on Wednesdays, the two days that could have possibly worked with our schedule. To top it off, the desk staff was rude to us on multiple occasions. When we showed up for our very first visit, we didn't bring our own towels ... we figured hey, it's a swim school, they'll have locker rooms and showers and towels, etc. Not so. We ended up asking the front desk if they could loan us a towel for our daughter (they had racks of them by the front desk) and they laughed and told us we could purchase a deluxe Goldfish Swim School towel (a piece of crap) for $16. Next came the difficulties scheduling make up classes. They boast that you have 12 make ups per year as long as you call at least 1 minute prior to your missed class to inform them you can't make it. Well, our scheduled day was Saturday. I called the Wednesday before to say that we'd be out of town and asked if we could come in on Friday instead. Nope. Can't make up a class before the class is missed. So I called the following week to set up a make up. They gave me serious attitude and said they had no record of me calling the week before, so we forfeited our ability to make up the class. $20 down the drain. The last straw was when we put in our 30 day cancellation notice on June 5th. They told us we had until July 5th to use any left-over make up sessions (makes sense right?). But when I called on July 2nd to use our last session, they said our membership had terminated at the end of June and because we didn't schedule the session in June, we forfeited our make up. I usually don't post negative reviews - in fact I'm not sure I ever have, but this place is seriously on my bad side, and I needed to get it off my chest. Hope this review helps somebody avoid the same hassle, wasted money, and frustration we went through. read more

Goldfish Swim School has been nothing but exceptional since its opening in March 2014. We tried 3 other places in the area for swim lessons over the past few years and not one of those places could compare to Goldfish. The facility, atmosphere, cleanliness, warm water temperatures are wonderful and kid-centered. But even more than that, the staff and teachers are top notch! As a school teacher myself, I know that kids learn and do their best when they have supportive teachers who genuinely want them to succeed. The teachers and staff at Goldfish want nothing more than the kids to feel and be successful and that is evident every time my girls and I go for lessons. From the front desk staff, to the lifeguards and to the amazing instructors, my kids (and I) feel welcomed and encouraged! Water safety is a critical life skill and one that I feel is priceless.
