We visited Savannah for my birthday in April and wandered into this gallery just to check out the antique furniture. Vincent Golshani, the artist of the stunning art hanging around the gallery, was in-house and very accomodating. Yes, he is European and his demeanor may come across to Southerners as rude or callous but as a Southerner myself, I could acknowledge that and didnt feel he was ever rude, dismissive, or anything other than kind to us. We didnt plan to buy anything but he was helpful, spent time telling us about his art, showing us his books, and even offering us something to drink. We confirmed him as an artist online and checked sales prices on some of his pieces before deciding to spring for Sunrise Park, a particularly beautiful piece that spoke to us. Vincent gave us a history of the painting, where he got the idea, and even autographed one of his books for us that he gave us at no charge! Throughout our visit, we didnt feel dismissed, conned, used, upsold, or mistreated so Im not sure why reviews make those claims. I encourage anyone reading this to experience it yourself before making snap decisions based on a few negative reviews. His artwork is expensive, but well worth it as investment pieces. Note: this isnt a shop to bring small children or unruly teenagers into! Its a gallery! read more

As a fellow European I'd like to address some of the reviews here stating Vincent is rude or obnoxious. Vincent is a super outgoing hyper personality, as can be seen in many artists. Initially he is loud & proud, but if you take a little time to listen, he calms down & becomes a truly lovable character. Look at all the correspondence he has from his clients. Listen to him tell you what motivated him to create each piece. He will invite you to dinner, whether you buy from him or not. Ask him how he met his wife, it's a love at first sight story. Ask him about his daughter, an artist in her own right. If you open your mind & soul, then a visit with Vincent is truly unique and inspiring. read more

Though I've heard a lot of negative things about the owner and doing business with Golden House, I stopped by anyway. Since I didn't make any purchases, I won't comment on their business dealings. Located on West Bay Street in the heart of the Savannah's Historic District, I found it to be somewhat different from the usual of the Savannah antique, art and furniture stores. Oddly the specialty is in Asian antiques, furniture of the Far East, and original pieces or artwork and paintings that pretty run the gauntlet of everything from the abstract to the modern. Everything I noted was rather pricey, but I can't say unreasonable as I'm not much of an expert on any of it, but to my eye, everything of genuine and of top quality. I didn't see anything smacking of being copies or reproduction; all being original pieces. Though I didn't make any purchases or speak with anyone, I can say that everything is well laid out, orderly and that it is one of the more pleasant of stores to do some browsing. read more

Let me break this place down for you, in hopes you do not get conned and overwhelmed like we did. The gallery is lovely, very bright colors. Vincent offers you a fantastic deal in this self proclaimed very valuable artwork. Polarizing a couple of articles on the wall. Vincent promises to send you an appraisal for said artwork, only when you get the art home, take a picture and send him a glowing email of how wonderful he is. Hence the lovely emails plastered all over the place, not joy. With a promise of a more to come from the Vincent. Guess what, once you send the email...nothing. Crickets. Please go spend your hard earned money in a real gallery in Savannah with real original artwork with no strings and promises attached. I wish we had. I can't stand to look at these silly things. They live in the garage, ready to give away or just trash. read more

This establishment looked very nice inside and the artwork was amazing. HOWEVER, they were being very pushy, we're following me and my family almost the entire time and the artist kept kissing and caressing my 2 year old. First of all, the statements that Vincent is a "hard sell" salesman are true. I found him obnoxiously engaging. Hey people, if you don't to buy something, man up and walk out. I'm looking forward to doing more business with him. I like the price I got for the piece I received. The shipping was quick and it took 15 minutes to get all the cardboard and bubble wrap off (well packed). I didn't think much of the antiques, because that's just not my bag. read more

My parens and I happened to walk in here on our trip to Savannah. It was a wonderful collection of Asian imports. Mom grew up in Taiwan and loves all things Asian so she found a few things to buy and put in their new house in West Palm Beach. The owner Vince is hilarious and has a great spirit about him. He enjoys his collection and is a wonderful painter as well. He has some great stories to tell if you get talking to him. Just look at all the letters at the front of the store as well as the ones in his office. If you are in savannah its worth a stop in here. read more

Neat gallery definitely worth checking out! My husband and I visited Goldon House Gallery in June and purchased a beautiful Jellyfish painting. The owner, Vincent, is eccentric, but incredibly personable. He has very neat stories to tell and seems passionate about life in general. We didn't purchase any antiques, but if you like an Asian flair, he has beautiful pieces of furniture in addition to his original paintings. read more

Beware. Do not buy anything from the dubious owner of this business. Item was delivered damaged, the guy said to go "buy some stain and fix it yourself. It's easy" Never in all my experience in the furniture business have i ever heard the owner of a company dealing in rare art and antique pieces tell a customer to "fix it yourself" upon the poor delivery of a damaged rare and expensive item. read more

Vincent is a vary nice man! He gets in everyone's bubble but I mean that in a good way. He is not from America and here in America we are more relaxed and less personal to people who are strangers, Vincent is not this way. He will talk to you about how hot his wife is, how silly and cute his daughter is, even the color of his underwear. This can put a lot of people off if they don't understand him and the cultural from where he is from. I thought he was extremely nice and ended up buying a painting from him after I did some research about him to make sure he was legit and not some phony trying to sell me a painting. FYI Vincent, gallery owner + painter, was completely obnoxious. He is loud and a pushy salesman. This gallery is not for the casual browser / admirer of all things beautiful. Prepare to be pressured into a purchase from the second you enter. I was cornered into an uncomfortable strategic conversation about " what I could afford to pay him" for one of his pieces. Vincent is over the top and rude. Made fun of us for being northerners. Started quoting unrealistic "Lloyds of London insurance prices at $9000 when the piece was $2500. I loved his furniture pieces. He claimed one piece was made entirely from only fit components glued together 150 years ago. Opened the door to see nails, badly done. He claimed he did it to reinforce the piece, told my wife maybe it was done by a former owner. We just couldn't trust him, and I've bought reproductions before and did not want to risk it again. Great looking stuff throughout the store though. Visit, but be prepared. read more

I can't speak to other experiences on this board but I have been a customer of Golden House Gallery for many years. It's funny how when your a satisfied customer you never write a review. I just wanted to take a moment to say that I enjoy my visits to the gallery the art just makes you happy with all the bright colors and the Asian antiques are quite unique. The proprietor has hundreds of thank you notes hung up in his office from all the people that his paintings have touched. It's worth a visit even if only to admire the work. read more

Curious as to why YELP didn't allow positive reviews to be showN. Goldon House Gallery is one of the most unique stores I have been in. The mix of authentic ancient Chinese furniture & the modern abstract paintings of the owner Vincent Golshani blend so well together. The furniture is of the highest quality & reasonably priced . Vincent's artwork brings a smile to my face and is proudly displayed in both my home and office. I also have a few pieces of the gallery's furniture in my home. I googled Goldon House to find the phone number and noticed in the results that the Yelp rating was not 5 stars. Intrigued, I clicked on the link and read what was posted. While I was obviously not there during any of the visits described, I think the conclusions are extremely inaccurate, unfair and unkind. I have been dealing with and buying from Vincent for years and can attest to his integrity and honesty from first hand experience. Lots of experiences. I don't think he would mind being described as unconventional and gregarious, and some might even go so far as flamboyant. Welcome to Savannah. He is one of the nicest and kindest people you will ever meet. So far as the gallery and its wares are concerned, I *am* somewhat knowledgeable about Asian antiques and I can attest to the authenticity of his pieces. Nothing is cheap, but nothing is overpriced either. In addition to original antiques, his company manufactures "new" pieces made from antique materials. One of my favorite purchases is a console table made from old Chinese doors. (I never checked for nails :-) Do yourself a favor and go visit because there is not another shop in Savannah even remotely like it. Vincent will spend a considerable amount of time being charming to you, but please be conscious during the experience that a sales pitch is conspicuously absent. Shopping next door and saw his store. From savannah and have bought many items from store on Broughton street. He said that was his store also. Loved couple of his paintings but questioned that I didn't know he was IN savannah. He was so awful to me, belligerent and mean! I walked out of the store and probably would have bought one. Goldon House Gallery is a working juxtaposition of beautiful Asian furniture pieces and bright, modern art works by Vincent, the artist and gallery owner. I bought one of three antique Buddhas on display because of its stunning face and allure. Vincent gave me a lovely signed book filled with his vivid contemporary paintings, each accompanied by the compelling personal stories and inspirations for each painting. I first walked into Goldon House Gallery about 6 years ago. I was so pleasantly overcome by the uniqueness of the furniture for sale and the ambiance (like a treasure hunt) that I didn't even notice the artwork. I then became acutely aware of the presence of the proprietor, Vincent Golshani. I can understand how some people can be intimidated or feel uncomfortable with Mr. Golshani on first meeting. Personally I found him interesting and refreshing. I sensed I knew what I was getting with him, no faking. My wife says "Vincent fills a room when he comes in." I couldn't agree more. Over the years we have purchased many pieces of furniture, rugs and decorative compliments Due to the uniqueness and quality of the items it is hard to comparison shop for price. From what we have seen the prices seem very fair. I am confident the rugs are of excellent quality and value. I did eventually discover the paintings. We now have five which we cherish. Not just because of their beauty but what they represent to us. They were made by Vincent for us. We have discovered that once you take the time to get to know Vincent he is a very sensitive (just read his books) and generous man. His talent speaks for itself. It is not just the stuff but the whole experience that we enjoy. We have a second home in Savannah and when guests visit we make a point of taking them to Goldon House Gallery and visiting with Vincent.The adventure gets even better if you get invited downstairs. Until yesterday, this was one of my "most favorite" shops filled with Asian furniture and artifacts. My plan was to begin replacing some of my larger furniture pieces with pieces from Goldon Gallery. The owner is Vincent Golshani, apparently an artist in his own right. In the 5 or 6 times I have visited, I have found Vincent to be an aggressive salesman with alot of bravado and "hustle" but nothing I couldn't handle. I bought a dining room table and bench for my son on the promise that if he decided it didn't work in his NYC apt., that the $2500 plus would be refunded. Unfortunately, the size did not work out and I notified Vincent the next day (after purchase and well before shipping) of that and asked for the refund. I was told he was unable to refund over the phone and I would have to bring in my credit card. I told him that due to travel plans, I was unable to get back for six or eight weeks. I did stop by once during that time when Vincent was on vacation and therefore, the shopkeeper was unable to issue the refund. I also made several calls to Vincent keeping him informed of my plans. Finally yesterday, we connected and to my dismay, Vincent turned into the ugliest, rudest man I have ever encountered. He claimed that he had been holding the bench for me for this time and could have sold it at least 20 times. He apparently did not understand that I canceled both items since they went together. He continued in an absolute rant calling me dishonest, claimed I had "used" him, literally telling a friend with me to "get out of his store", stating that I had cost him money (despite the fact he had had my money for 2 months) and totally embarrassed himself in front of other customers in the store (who actually waited for me in the next shop to see if I was OK). On top of that, he said that alll of "us Yankees" should stay up North (where he got that I'll never know since I was born in LA and lived in GA 90% of my life). I did receive the refund after suffering 20 minutes of his verbal abuse which finally ended with "get out of my store and never come back!" This was a shocking experience for me as I have never had anyone talk/scream at me like that. It was also a disappointing experience since I love his store and felt we were developing a rapport. I am almost 70 years old and am not an alarmist nor someone who has even posted anything on Yelp. I'm pretty even keeled. My advice, just skip Goldon House Gallery when you are in Savannah or if you must go in, avoid Vincent at all costs! read more
