I wish I could can you give this gym 5 stars for equipment variety, but the upkeep and maintenance of gym & woman's restroom has two leaks with a broken faucet and patching that needs painting. Booty Builder machine pad needs to be replaced and Jacob's Ladder is broken. I'm visiting Gold's gym from out of state and was trying to get my sister to join this location out here in Tennessee, but I don't think I'll be doing that after seeing the poor upkeep. Gold's has all you are looking for when it comes to equipment- both free weights and machines. Plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, and stair climbers. In all my visits, and there have been plenty based on my check ins, I've never had an issue with having to wait on using a piece of equipment. Gold's does need to focus on cleanliness. There's no way in the world I'd use the men's bathroom other than to wash my hands. At times, there's no paper towels or disinfectant to clean the machines. I can't speak to any of the classes or trainers as I don't use those services. As for cost, well, just depends on how well you negotiate. There are other gyms at a lower cost if you need just the equipment to use. read more

Still super new to going to this gym but so far very happy! The treadmills have TVs and there is a lot of different equipment. It is usually pretty busy. So far, the facility seems clean and well-kept. There are a couple treadmills with broken TVs but the treadmills themselves work just fine. The staff are all very nice and really helpful. Mmkay, I'm afraid I have to say that this is my least favorite of the 3 Gold's Gyms I've been to.. and it's the closest one to my house.. which is 25 minutes away. I honestly don't mind having to drive to Hendersonville. What I do mind is the way almost every employee stands propped up on the counter, like a half asleep high schooler in geometry class. I disturbed two half asleep/ half facebooking on their Android phone employees one day in an attempt to redeem a Yelp check in offer for a free bottle of water. They'd never heard of yelp, let alone free water, so I spent my work out running back and forth to the water fountain. First world problems, I know. But come on! They've already got me with their contract, so I'll just keep working out here. At least it's marketed as a weight lifter's gym, so the cardio machines are usually free. You can watch health tips streaming on one of their TVs while you work out, like the importance of staying hydrated by drinking lots of water while you exercise. Ha. read more

This facility is disgusting. Classes are constantly being canceled, instructors constantly leaving. Things always broken, machines are never wiped down, bathrooms are often out of thinks like soap and paper towels and are also filthy. We've even been told by staff that the owners have several other gyms and this one is last on their list. I signed up Aug 2012 for the "buy 1 year get 2 years free" promotion. On the anniversary date in Aug 2013 the manager stopped me on my way in and told me my membership had expired. I explained why that was wrong, and he let me work out. Here we are in late Oct 2013 and I still get stopped every time I go in because the computer says I'm expired. I've called, emailed, and talked to the manager multiple times but for some reason he won't/ can't fix it. I even provided a copy of my credit card statement to show I paid in full. Very annoyed and going to ownership. Over all I wouldn't recommend because of the poor customer service and lack of overall services. I have been going to this gym for almost 2 years now. I have waited to write this review for several reasons. 1. being laziness and just never getting around to it. 2 because they have been promising to make changes ever since I've been there and they have finally made good on their promises. Golds gym built their reputation on being a lifters a gym and when this one opened they failed miserably at staying with that tradition. When it first opened the they devoted way to much space to cardio machines and not enough room to lift and had almost no mirrors. Since they changed the whole layout of the gym it is much better. They moved out all the cardio equipment to the other side of the gym and they installed mirrors along the whole wall to check form. They have kept getting new equipment and just recently added a whole line of Hammer strength equipment which I love! The childcare here is wonderful. All the girls in there are great with kids and they always keep it very clean and have lots of activities to keep the kids entertained. They do have tanning and people seem to be happy with that. The locker room is a little small but it doesn't seem to get over crowded. They have classes which are always pretty busy so they must be doing something right. Parking...... Well it just depends on what time you get there. It's a pretty busy gym so it's always packed from 5 to 7 every day of the week. They have opened up a new parking area in the back which has seemed to ease up all the parking on the street. So in short this gym has pretty much everything you will need to train as a lifter and if classes and cardio is your thing then you will enjoy it also. I know it's busy and sometimes you have to wait on machines but you can't really expect anything different when it's located on probably the busiest road in Hendersonville. In closing I would recommend this gym if you're looking for a new one. If you do join just please practice gym etiquette and remember that if you don't re-rack your weights........ Really awful experience here. I signed up but moved back to Michigan shortly after and when I called to cancel, they said the only way to cancel was to come in and sign paperwork. So on a vacation while visiting friends in Nashville, I took time out to drive to Hendersonville to cancel. They conveniently lost my paperwork and I've been billed continually, and my attempts to contact them were not responded. I finally got in touch with someone today who let me know that they lost my cancellation paperwork and they won't be refunding the additional payments since my original cancellation. As far as the actual gym, I went a few times, and it was alright. The personal trainer I saw was really unprofessional and basically bullied me around asking why I didn't want to get more fit, when at the time, I was the most in shape and active I've been in my life. Definitely not worth the grief I've gone through in trying to cancel. read more

This is a nice, new gym in Hendersonville. The parking is absolutely ridiculous, so good luck with that. Friendly staff, childcare play room, clean, and nice equipment. Although, for being so new I was surprised at how many treadmills were not working. Also, they have a movie cinema where you can workout and watch a movie on a giant screen. Where do I start !!! First the bathrooms and tanning areas are always so dirty, it makes Gary, Indiana look clean!! Second , you sign a contract saying free tanning any time and open 24hrs!! LIE! LIE! LIE!!!! They changed that to open certain hours on the weekend and you can't spray tan on the weekends and oh wait !! You now have to have an Appointment to spray tan!!!! What a joke !!! You can walk into any tanning place and not have to make an appointment!!! I guess you pay for what you get ! Kim (one of the managers) is awesome! And I'm not sure what everyone else is talking about, but the front desk staff has always been friendly. Maybe they've had some turnover? Free weight area is nice and big, but they could use another squat rack or two. Only one? Really? They could also use a bigger area for plyo, core work, etc. It's currently only big enough to accommodate about 3 people, and since the trainers are always using it, that really means only one lucky gym goer will be able to work in along side them. They should axe some of the cardio equipment in my opinion, except for the stairs which there are not enough of to meet the demand. All of the ellipticals, bikes, etc however are never at capacity, so they really ought to clear some more space out there. I imagine coming here as a first time gym goer who hasn't worked out before could be pretty intimidating. Lots of muscly people, including the women, walking around. Apparently they want to be strictly a weightlifters gym though? Didn't realize that about Gold's until I read some of the posts, so just be aware of that when you come here if you're interested in joining. I'm a pretty average guy though, and have always been pretty comfortable here. People are courteous and friendly for the most part and willing to share equipment when it gets busy. Oh yeah. It gets really busy! Good luck on parking between 5 and 7. There is extra parking in the back, but you can't get in without a monster truck. From a look around the parking lot, I guess that's not an issue for most people in Hendersonville, but if you have a little Civic like I do, you'll have to fight for a spot out front. It could definitely be better. The CONS The machines are not as clean as they should be - some of them are pretty disgusting. Gym Mats and Floors are pretty dirty as well. The water machine is consistently operating on a dirty filter. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR TRAINING AT GOLD'S GYM. First trainer, Seth, sat on his cell phone texting each training session. Second trainer, Andre, is an awesome trainer and guy, but the sessions kept getting rescheduled without anyone calling us to let us know. We missed (and got charged for) some training because of this. When we called to find out what was going on, the training company was no help at all, and would not work with us. We ended up blocking charges from Custom Built Personal Training at our bank because they breached the contract when they started canceling and rescheduling sessions against our will. read more

This gym is an ok gym. Overall the atmosphere is definitely for bodybuilder a and fitness competitors. The cardio machines are decent but most of them have something wrong (can't measure HR or won't incline/speed up) the weights are in good condition and the machines are nice and a lot are new. It's not bad for the price you pay for. Could definitely have better parking and be a little more spacious inside, but overall the gym is a good gym. As gyms go, this one is pretty darn nice. Bright, clean and well lit, with a wide variety of both aerobic machines, weights, and weight machines. They have classes for everything from Zumba to Yoga and Spin to Core Training. They even have a large screen movie room, complete with cardio equipment for those who like to work out while zoning out to a recent flick. They have childcare, but the hours are somewhat limited and the place is obviously not really intended to support many children. As a father of four, I found this to be somewhat of a drawback. I'm also the guy that likes a really nice locker room, complete with sauna, steam, etc. I understand that you get what you pay for, but this is probably my only other gripe about the club. While I have not met a lot of the staff, I getr there early in the morning and their attendant quickly learned my name. That personal touch makes coming a bit nicer. I also had the pleasure of meeting the manager of the club. While he was not able to make any radical changes, he did listen and understand my concerns. People always matter and the staff I have met so far here have truly impressed me. read more

f I could give zero stars than I would. We called to cancel our membership a month ago. When we did, a staff member, who is not trained appropriately, informed us that it had been canceled. A month later, we are still being charged. We call back and the MANGER yells at us over the phone, telling us we are wrong and not being supportive of our issue at all. When I tell her what her staff member says, she calls me a liar and even hangs up on my girlfriend. My girlfriend was in tears over all of this, literally. The WORST service I have EVER encountered by ANY place of business. I would not recommend going to Golds Gym in Hendersonville at all. I have been trying for the last month and a half to get a reduction in my bi-weekly fees. I workout early mornings but the staff at that time is not trained to handle such matters. The fact that I have to be physically in the gym to modify my membership is not the problem. I am there, but the staff seems indifferent that a customer is doing their due diligence to resolve a matter. I am of the opinion that they are giving me the run around to keep getting my money. I train at Iron House Strength and Training and I am leaning toward just cancelling my membership at Gold's and paying the extra money just so I can have sincere customer service. They have good workout classes. It's cramped but the new parking lot is very nice. Based on the people that come here it feels more like a pickup joint or gym for pretty people, very different than the family environment of the Y. Buyer Beware!!! First, here's why I gave it a 1 star. I used my debit card to sign up for a bi-weekly membership @ $14.95, (a debit made every two weeks.) After a month, a charge of $39.00 showed up on my statement. I queried it with Jeff the manager, who told me that it was an Enhancement Fee. He explained the business behind it. I told him that Mike, the server who signed me up, never mentioned this charge and Jeff sniggered, suggesting that it was a miscommunication. He said that he needed to sit down with Mike and have a chat. What's sad about this, and I wish the owner could see the sense here, If you take $39.00 dollars and spread out over one year, it's a little more than 10 cents per day. It isn't that much since I enjoyed the progress I made, working out at this gym. I probably would have paid this extra amount to ensure the equipment stayed current. They lost a dollar-a-day client for the sake of 10cents!!!! Second: This gym should be prosperous. And here's why, 1. The environment is totally positive. Mantras all over the place, reminders of why we want to be there. 2. The equipment is first class, updated in January 2016. 3. The staff are friendly. 4 They have a team of professionally certified trainers on hand. 5. They are open 24/7. (No more calling them, to see if they are open.) 6 There are countless exercise classes and programs to keep your 'fit-quest' engaging. Unfortunately, my experience at Gold's Gym, Hendersonville, turned out to be the epitome of irony. It's a five star facility, geared for success, that is usurped by a one star business ethic. Definitely the best option in Hendersonville. Prices aren't too bad, parking is scarce and the atmosphere is great compared to other local gyms. Staff is friendly and there's always machines available or free weights depending on the workout. Decent gym and decent equipment. Poor manager and unfriendly accosiates. Had an issue with billing and manager refussed to work with me. I was not informed of billing issues, instead they turned me to collections. They say no commitment but its all just word play. Manager was incredibly rude when I asked about all of this and refused to work with me unless I agreed to continue future contracts. Overall I like the gym and atmosphere. Other members are friendly and always willing to offer a spot or talk shop. Location and hours are good for me. The equipment is nice and overall in good working order. Machines are sometimes down but this is typical for any gym of this size so no worries about that. Equipment does need to be cleaned or wiped down daily and this would prevent many of the cardio breakdowns. The front desk staff is VERY unimpressive. I used to manage a Gold Gym and was adament that my staff always greeted members when they walked in and told them goodbye on the way out. If they didn't I would send them home! Learning members names seems trivial but makes members feel good and is a good way to build relationships and create loyalty. This staff RARELY does that which I don't blame on the front desk staff but more on the management. If you don't train your employees and set expectations they will never be met. The onsite Management seems to have very little customer service experience in general and very little experience in running a gym. It's the little things that make a big difference. I like the gym overall and would recomment it to most people minus the customer service aspect which is below average but the easiest to fix, just comes down to laziness. Need a little more professionalism at the top. I have been a member in good standing for a year and half. I asked how to get a Golds Gym T-Shirt and Manager told me if I give him 10 names of potential members he would give me one. I thought this guy is not very bright! What is a $3 shirt to a member that has been there for a year and half. Always take care of your current members first before worrying about potential ones...business 101. My mom and I have been through the ringer with this place. I would not recommend Gold's Gym to anyone I ever meet. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Let me take you through what has happened. I was a member of Gold's for over a year. It was a decent experience, I lost some weight and I would continue going there if it weren't for the absolutely horrendous management. Since I've been at the gym, they've had three managers. All of them have left. You would think the current manager would be a step up from the predecessors. You thought wrong. Ms. King, as I've been told by my mom that's her name, was very--I repeat VERY rude to me when I came into the gym a little bit ago. My mom tried to end my membership on July 26th. She came into the gym and spoke to someone who was not a manager. He told her that she could not end the membership because it was a weekend day. Not quite sure if that's a real policy, and even if it is, why is ending a membership on a Monday is any different from a Sunday? Anyway, he told her she could fill out a form requesting to terminate the membership and that he would get it to Ms. King that Monday and call her back. So my mom never receives a call. She called them to inquire about it, and was told that the request form was lost. Not quite sure how someone can lose a paper in less than 24 hours, but great job to the guy who did! My mom goes into Gold's, waits 2 hours on the couch and encounters Ms. King. She told my mom that she can't terminate the membership because now I'm 18. She also said to my mom "You can wait on the couch however long you want but I'm leaving at 5." Now keep in mind, my mom is the one paying for my membership. She is the one who signed off on it last year and it is her credit card information they have. Also keep in mind, that when my mom came in on the 26th to end my membership and was turned away because it's not a weekday, I was still 17. My birthday is on the 28th of July....so Ms. King told my mom that I would have to come in and sign off on terminating the membership, because now that I'm 18 I hold my mother's finances in my hands...? "face palm" Ms. King said that she knew the contract backwards and forwards. My mom asked her to bring it out and explain it to her. She came back and said she couldn't "find it". Wow..lost contract...this just keeps getting better right? Ms. King DID say that in their notes it showed my mom coming in on the 26th to request the contract termination, but since there was no record of the form (because it was "lost") the termination was denied and my mom still owed 2 payments of $19.99. They actually ended up charging my mom a third payment unbeknownst to her plus another payment of $20 for maintenance fees? So now my mom is out $ that she shouldn't even owe because she came in on time to cancel the membership before having to pay it. Ms. King said that she contacted the worker who lost the form. He was transferred to a location in Nashville the day after my mom came in, and he said he didn't remember any woman coming in on a Sunday to cancel a membership. How lucky are we? So my mom told me to come in and cancel the membership. Honoring my mom's wish, I go in to cancel it. Ms. King is not there at the time so another worker hands me a form to fill out to cancel it. I came in on August 24th, almost a month after my mom's request. I fill it out, they hand me a copy, and I go on my way. I come home and my mom tells me that since I now cancelled it, it is Gold's Gym's policy that I can still use the facilities 30 days after the cancellation. This is true. It says it in the contract with font so small, only a mouse can read it. I'm in college now, so I went to my classes today and then decided to go workout after. Here's what happened. I walk in, and there are two women standing at the counter. I scan my card and the computer voice says "Membership Terminated". I'm obviously confused because I should still have 30 days left on my membership. In fact, I remember calling Gold's Gym last week before I even cancelled, and the lady (who wasn't that nice) said my membership is still active until I cancel it, plus the 30 days added. Anyway, the girl to my right looks just as confused as me. She asks if it's the wrong card and goes to the computer to try and help me out. The other lady's expression changes from seemingly friendly to blatantly hostile. She looks at me as if recognizing me and says "Ohhh I know who you are". I'm just utterly offended at this point and I ask her "How do you mean?" She explains "I know who your mother is. She's the woman who was trying to end your membership." Then she looks at me like I'm stupid, and says "Your membership has been terminated for over a month now." Yelp is telling me I'm running out of characters. Let's just say for the rest she talked trash about my mom and was unprofessional to me. We're calling corporate tomorrow. Don't go to Gold's Gym if you want to keep your money, sorry. read more

I originally signed up at the Murfreesboro location and loved it. It had busy days but was large and spacious and had an awesome theater room. Moved closer to Hendersonville and decided to try that one. NOT AT ALL as nice. And it's CONSTANTLY packed. They just keep selling memberships without enough gyms to house them. I don't mind a few people but when it feels like a school cafeteria, I'll pass. And most annoying, it is FULL of already fit men and women there just to look at one another and show off, I once waited on a machine while a guy asked a girl on it for her number. Obnoxious. I left. Another day I was in the cinema room and three young girls around the age of 13 with blue jeans and boots took three machines, they obviously saw the gym as a place to go play while mom works out. This gym feels more like a social hang out than a gym, not the kind of place i feel I can make positive changes in my life. PROS: Great prices, theater room, great equipment, clean, childcare IS pretty great. CONS: Overcrowded, equipment ,though great, doesn't always work, not the friendliest staff, need more locations. Lots of equipment, lots of weights and room as well as about anything you could ask for. The pricing is excellent as well. Was a member but sometimes they seem to like to try and save money by not running the AC. I complained once and was told they only change the heat to ac once a year and even though it was 80 outside they would not turn the AC on as likely they would have to use the heat again. I asked them to make sure they knew they were in TN and they assured me they knew that. (I know several days I have had my home's AC unit on and turned the heat on later in the day and vice versa) Working out without AC in high 70s and 80s? No, not my cup of tea so I bolted. If you can avoid those times of the year when they have turned on the proper heat/ac it is a great place. read more

They advertise no contract. My wife is pregnant and the Dr. pulled her from high intensity workouts. When I went in to lower our contract just till the birth they said I cant change it unless I buy out of the contract and buy into a lower level..... They said I was in a contract (they have a big sign above the door saying no contract) I explained it wasn't long term and I was told by the manager that it was my fault and I signed the contract. She specifically said the only way out was death....... Who says that? Hahaha I'm paying the drop fee because it's cheaper to do that then finish out the contract. If you love Staph infections and dirty needles you should join this gym! I've been competitively lifting for 5.5 years and have never been to a worse gym. For starters, everything is filthy. Some of the bigger dumbbells that never get moved have an inch of dust built up behind them and the employees apparently do not care despite the fact that I've brought it up on multiple occasions. Speaking of employees, the gym is staffed by what can only be described as a middle aged woman watching over 3 to 4 rug rats that could not give less of a crap about their job. The manager, Kim, is nice enough, but is not qualified for the position whatsoever, and sure doesn't mind turning a blind eye to the rules for her friends. Some of the front desk people and sales associates are OK, but more often than not are either wanting to go home, go outside to smoke a cigarette, or do everything in their power to do as little as possible throughout the day. On a more serious note, I don't see how a gym this new is in such a state of distress. Everything is done the cheap way. All the water fountains are perpetually broken so they stopped fixing them and instead just set up a cheap looking water cooler. There are holes in the wall that haven't been fixed in the 2 years that I've been a member. DUCT TAPE IS QUITE LITERALLY HOLDING THE GYM'S MIRRORS TO THE WALL. If one of those pieces were to fall and injure someone, that person would own the gym for them failing to uphold their due diligence of the bullshit contract they make you sign. None of the dumbbells are marked with their weights because the end caps come off and nobody bothers to put them back on. If you're a male, leave your gym bag in the car. The bathroom smells like feces and I would never in 100 years step foot into the cesspit that they call a shower. The rubberized floors have never been exposed to a vacuum cleaner, and the treadmills are typically covered in sweat. With this being said, I do occasionally see a lackadaisical teenager dusting them. However, with the sheer volume of people moving through it that this gym sees, its nowhere near enough. Back to what I said about things being done the cheap way: The lighting is terrible. none of the floors (both wooden and rubberized) meet correctly at the joints and end up flaring up. the cable and power cords for all 40 treadmills are exposed and easy to trip over. The people are the worst part of this gym. Everybody thinks they're a bodybuilder and are mass-monsters (they are not). If you're a housewife or old man looking to walk on the treadmill a few times a week, think again. This is an intimidating place if you do not pick up weights. Once I saw a used needle in the fountain out front, which is totally unacceptable. I realize that the steroid culture is prevalent in this sort of environment, but to air it openly at the front of the gym is not good practice or at the very least, safe. So if you can get around the extreme narcism and general pervasive negative attitude of the gym goers, this is the place for you to lift weights. So, now you ask, why do I still retain a membership here despite being screwed by the management into a contract that I didn't want in the first place and the awful amenities? Because its close to me and I hate anytime/planet fitness. They're even worse than this gym. If you can, avoid this gym. Run screaming. Never look back. If you actually do feel so inclined, go for the no contract $10 a month membership because you sure as hell don't want to give your kids to the nut jobs in child care, use their nasty (literally disgusting!) tanning beds, attend their obnoxious group fitness classes, or go to their cheap feeling hot yoga studio, which actually happens to be located at another location! read more
