An amazing place, the amount of gym equipment there is, is incredible! A lot of equipment you would see at a bodybuilding gym and good for athletic training too with classes and trainers that seem to like training people. This place has a lively atmosphere and the layout is nice and very spacious. The employees at the front are kind and friendly. I complain about the price but $15 is a great deal for a day pass. If only it could be $10 then I would give it 5 stars haha. read more

gold's gym steam room in montrose, co is disgusting and filthy. mats of hair, trash and other debris are on the floor, benches and walls of the steam room. complaints are never addressed. manager continues to ignore them. yet gold's gym continues to make their members pay an annual cleaning fee ! i have been a member at other gold's gyms in nm and az. their steam rooms were always clean, but can't say that about the montrose facility. however, i do enjoy the variety of equipment options at gold's. i like the spaciousness of this facility, too. read more

Everything you need! I've been weary of Golds Gym in the past as it is has gained a reputation as a "meat-head" gym. However this particular location doesn't have that vibe at all. I'm out in Colorado for a month with my aunt and i am doing football and we do weight room for football back in Michigan and I wanted to go for football so i can be prepared for football but no. My aunt would have to be there with me at all times and I had to be older but im 14 and i know what I'm doing but nope now i got no where to go and cant stay caught up with my team now. read more

I can compare this gym to the Planet Fitness chain of which I was a member of in another state. Planet Fitness is superior in many ways unless you're a free weights type person. this gym has a good balance of equipment but more machines would be an improvement. having duplicate machines when popular would be a benefit to members so they have a better chance of getting their workout finished instead of having to wait during peak traffic. Some inconsiderates like to play with their phones while others are forced to wait (Not just a gold's problem). I did not renew my membership here as they didn't notify me (via text or email) of discounted membership renewal and I came in to renew and missed the discount by one day. Their memberships are expensive compared to their competitors and their personnel don't seem to care about or incentivize potential customers. My husband and I have been going to the big new county gym but from time to time it would be fun to try something new. However, our first consideration is ALWAYS "do the employees wear masks?". Unfortunately, the consensus among friends and family is that none of the employees, nor any of the public, seem to be using masks. That is so unfortunate because Golds Gym is pretty much the gold standard in gyms but not wearing masks brings the company down to the bottom level. I hope the Montrose County Health Department doesn't close them down, because I hear that's what is happening when a business decides to not follow health department rules and state laws. read more

I was very much impressed by this gym. A day pass was only $10, which made it very affordable as a traveler. The pass is also good for 24 hours, which means you could potential he visit twice for the same $10. The gym is spacious with plenty of room in between machines and benches, and they also have a functional fitness room with Olympic platforms. My first visit was at 9 PM, and my second visit was at 5:30 AM the next day, so I'm not sure if they are overly busy during prime time, but when I went to the gym it was fairly empty. The machines were good, they have plenty of free weights, and they also have a cardio theater which I did not partake in, but it looked pretty cool. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and they provide a towel service. The bathrooms seemed pretty clean for the gym, but I did not use the shower so I can't come in on that. read more

I found this gym by accident. Traveling in to see family in the area I am not used to even having something like this in the area. As I entered the staff greeted me, nobody was on their cell phone "board". The location is very clean, in fact they had a gent walking around the gym with a back pack vac sweeping up the floors. The locker rooms are nice, there is a sauna, a hot tub, and many other amenities. This is definitely on my favorite spots in Montrose list. Well done team Gold's Gym!! Every poor review here is about canceling memberships. I emailed back in February that I need to cancel my membership due to work schedule changes. My account was paid up and I even paid an additional $200 for five days of personal training that I never used, nor did I ask for it to be refunded. The manager emailed me back and said, " I saw that you did pay yesterday which we can accept as your final draft and you can have access for the next 30 days, per the contract you signed you are subject to paying your annual membership fee which is $39. Any unpaid dues will be sent to collections", Right out of the gate she is threatening me with the collection process, even though I paid them a total of $347, went to the gym ONE TIME, and never received a membership card. She attached a cancelation form, and on the form where it says the amount you owe for a cancel fee, it says $0.00. So I mailed the form and did not send the addition cancel fee she said I owe since her form she sent me specified I did not owe one and the fact I paid them $347 for going one time. I did not even take advantage of the one-time free coupon. Thought all of this was solved until I get a bill in the mail the other day saying I owe them $137 in membership fees. So today I have to email again and threaten small claims court. This time I attached a cancel form and circled where it says I owe zero. I am glad members are happy there, I am sure it is a great gym, that is why I signed up. All of my communication with staff was wonderful (except for management). I would not have canceled if not for unforeseen scheduling issues. However, keep all of your correspondence if you need to cancel, follow their policies, but be warned they will try and swindle you out of all they can. I hope the corporate office sees this and all the other bad reviews concerning this issue. read more

Well, it didn't take long to find every machine that is broken down or dying. Oddly enough the staff would rather spend their time talking to everyone at the desk, effectively clogging up that area for those of us trying to sign in, or walking around talking to all the young guys that are the typical gym bullies. Management/owners need to start paying attention. While it all looks good at first blush, don't look any deeper! - Gross locker rooms - Cell usage in steam rooms - Cell usage in locker rooms by all the teens and wanna be body builders taking selfies - typical gym bullies (Planet Fitness needs to make an appearance in Montrose) - Machines covered in dust - Equipment fraying (like the pull down ropes brought to staff's attention over and over - cardio machines breaking down (where does the yearly upkeep fee go?) - Rude staff - Over talkative staff with their friends It's the MAC all over again! read more

Before I joined, the Staff assured me that they always play heavy metal or hard rock music. (They said they "never" play soft 'girly' music!) However, soon after I moved to Montrose and joined Gold's, the all-Girl staff started playing soft, high-pitched feminine girly music, which made it impossible to get a good workout (other gym owners told me they would NEVER play the girly music that Gold's plays). When I asked the Girl-staff to change the channel to hard rock, they would do that for about 10 minutes, then change it back to girly music, because that's what the Girl-staff likes. The female Manager and Girl-Staff are only interested in playing girly music -- because they want this Gold's to be a girly gym that is designed for Yoga Ballerinas and Cheerleaders ONLY! I cancelled my membership because the Manager has turned this Gold's into a sleepy, feminine yoga studio and day spa -- which feels like an 'Old Lady Beauty Parlor'.....! The best gym Montrose has ever had. New and beautiful cardio and weight machines. An entire row of Precor AMT machines?! I can't even find that at my gym in Denver! Clean, very clean. It also has Cardio Cinema where they play different movies while you workout. Lots of heavy weights for the big boys. A great room to do stretching, and various other crossfit exercises. I put a one star review but if I could I would put a zero it was many times that an employee from the montrose colorado golds gym continued to treat a minor terribly we would go in with our younger sister that was 14 the first time she came up to us we understood and left didn't even get to finish my work out that I pay almost 90 for a month. The second time she came up while in the locker room we understood we had our younger sister wait for my mom in the looker room because in the waiting area there was no where for her to sit while she waited for my mom to get there mind you she has never caused a problem before always used the equipment respectfully. Me and my sister continued to workout again but then she continued to come in and try to have her wait outside and it was snowing she yelled at her and speak to her in no way an adult should ever talk to a minor. I know many people that have had a problem at that gym another day I went in and they were kicking an elderly lady that also pay her monthly fees out because she was supposedly taking to long to change. read more
