This is not an aesthetic that would appeal to everyone, in fact it probably only appeals to a minority of people for whom gold 'bling' has a particular appeal - whether genuine or ironic - or possibly to some Travellers, for whom St. Christopher is the Patron Saint. I happen to love its brashness and I think it adds character to the range of shops on offer in the market and helps to ensure that Leeds Market appeals to as many different cultures, tastes and people as possible.

Well aren't I in for a treat. It stands out from some of the other high street jewellers as the window display is kept so clean the diamonds are extra sparkly. All the designs are classical and elegant, I have difficulty finding something I don't like. I know I am here just to browse, I am pretty sure the sales assistant knows this to but bless him he treats me like he would a paying customer. I don't feel like I have to walk out of the shop when I notice a ring that costs more than my house and can just stare in awe for a while. When that lottery win comes in I will be back to actually buy something. In the meantime this is just one of my places to look but at least you aren't made to feel uncomfortable for doing so.

I am allowed to love more than one jewellery store, it is not cheating. They always have beautiful and inspiring second hand vintage jewellery on display in their window, often at discounted or competitive rates. Usually there are ring boards which cover all the precious stones - rubies, sapphires, opals, emeralds, diamonds, garnets, amethysts and so on. Those alone are enough to make me stare for ages! As well as this there are a number of chains, necklaces, pendents, cuff links, watches, ornaments and all other associated items - many more of which you can view inside, with lovely patient staff to help you. Excellent stock, great staff, lovely prices and all that jazz.

They have a glass cabinet full of vintage ornaments, many including their original boxes and mostly animals. One memorable piece was a Humpty-Dumpty sat precariously on a wall with a comically aghast expression! Some larger ornaments sit on shelves at the back including some quirky dogs with bizarre yet lovable faces. The shop is small but packed full of glistening goodies to suit a wide range of tastes. The staff are friendly and helpful but are more than happy to let you browse at your leisure. Their product range is diverse and in addition to the items listed earlier, they generally seem to specialize in anything that's unusual with a bit of history, including medals, trays and pocket watches. A wonderful place to find unique items if, like me, you go for things with character and delight in the fact that a piece has been pre-loved in a mysterious past life.

Rajput Jewelers is one of several specialists in Asian gold and silver jewellery in the area. It…read moresells a range of jewellery, many pieces in 22 carat gold and embellished with diamonds. They also buy scrap jewellery so you could trade an unworn piece in to begin saving for one of their impressive necklaces or rings. When I popped in for a browse I saw some rather cutesy-looking cartoonish flower studs and figured they would probably be the cheapest thing in the shop, upon enquiring about the price (the helpful and friendly young woman assistant had to act as translator for the elderly male proprietor), the earrings were weighed and I was informed they were £140. Now I'm sure this reflects their value gold-wise (as they were 22 carat gold) but they just didn't have the look quality and beauty that I think expensive jewellery ought to have and can't quite imagine why someone would by these over a similar pair on the high street for probably a twentieth of the price! However, there are many pretty pieces in there that do own their price tag, with elaborate necklaces and earrings that look to be of very high quality and carefully designed. If you're looking for jewellery with an Asian aesthetic or just something different from the traditional British jewelers in the city centre you may find something special at Rajput Jewelers, but you must be prepared to pay the price for the quality.
Avoid Bradley's York if you value your engagement experience…read more Avoid this store if you care about your engagement! What started as a great experience went quickly downhill. They didn't just fail on a technical level, they ruined the emotional attachment to the ring and the entire experience of getting engaged. Imagine attaching such a bad experience to something so meaningful that you'll wear for the rest of your life! We bought a two-tone engagement ring, but when we went to collect it after resizing, the entire head was yellow gold. They completely missed this massive quality control issue, we had to point it out to them after only noticing as we were about to leave the store. It only got worse from there: - Conflicting Stories: One person gave one story, then the manager gave another, first we were told the ring was "remade," then later claimed it was the original and the factory just forgot the white gold. This inconsistency left us wondering what we actually bought. We still don't know which story is true - Zero Respect for Boundaries: We specifically asked to be left alone on the day of the failed collection to salvage our engagement dinner. They ignored this and called just before 4PM anyway, further upsetting my fiancée and ruining our evening. - The "Delivery" Incompetence: I was told the ring would be sent via Special Delivery to arrive by 1 PM Friday by the manager. I stayed in all morning waiting. At 12:54 PM, the store called asking how I wanted it delivered, they had no idea about the plan and I was told they would never just post something of this value. Total lack of internal communication. - The £25 Insult: After admitting they ruined the experience, and their initial suggestion of an experience so we can go get afternoon tea at Betty's, they offered a pathetic £25 voucher. When I pointed out this didn't even cover the travel and parking for the initial failed collection, I was told this was "more than we are obliged to do." We haven't yet received this, and I fully expect them to now claim the mini prosecco and travel jewelry box (which we would never have wanted) that is in the bag as their "gesture of goodwill" To top it off, when they finally hand-delivered the ring, they tried to get me to sign a document confirming I was "happy with the item" to cover themselves against further complaints to the NAJ. Bradley's treats your engagement like a "fit for purpose" transaction, not a milestone. They think ruining a lifetime memory is worth the price of a takeaway. Absolute insult of a "luxury" jeweler. Go elsewhere.

Women's jewellery ranges from elegant and classic designs, many featuring heart shapes to more statement pieces in unusual shapes. They also sell watches, including a particularly jewel encrusted Gucci number at nearly £2000. Now surely no one can justify such a price for a watch! Now obviously some people are into this stuff, but personally I can't help wondering what must be missing in the life of someone who aspires to the decadent luxury of owning a £2000 watch (apart from the watch in question!). Men's jewellery includes some rather bizarre Porsche bracelets and cufflinks for around £200. Phillip Stoner provides repair, alteration and customisation services for old jewellery, which I think is brilliant and shows their level of skill and knowledge. They also create custom made pieces to personal specification. Wow, that's some special gift...or unbelievably indulgent treat!

The majority of these situations often lead to much arm tugging and coat pulling in the direction of pressed carbon with at least a month's salary price tag attached. One of the finer jewellery establishments this here fair city has to offer is Phillip Stoner, aptly named after the gent that created the business, Phillip Stoner professes itself to be the North's leading bespoke jeweller. At the very least the product backs up the claim, the pieces are absolutely beautiful, and as far as clarity of diamonds go, I don't think I've seen any finer in the area. There's an interesting range of services too, from repairs of existing jewellery pieces to the modification of pieces, or getting quotes for and eventual piece creation for loose stones, be they fallen out of jewellery stones, or bought stones from Philip Stoner or other dealers. The staff are smart and accommodating, and you actually don't see pound signs flash before their eyes when you mention the possibilities of your engagement ring and wedding bands being bespoke. If you've got a bit of extra wally in your wallet splashing out on good quality jewellery at Phillip Stoner is a pretty damn luxurious way to do it.

I know a lot of…read morepeople may not find it romantic to go shopping for the ring together, but if you are spending money on jewelry, you want to make sure that it is something the other person wants AND that it is quality. Having worked in jewelry while I was in high school and college, I like to think that I can at least see when I am being ripped off. I actually found this store online while searching for 'jewelry stores in Manchester'. The store is in Leeds and the other branches of the store, also not in Manchester. However, I am glad I looked and glad that Mr. Snarky was up for a trip to Leeds. If you call the number at the bottom of the website it goes to their head office and they can provide you with the number of the store you wish to contact. I didn't realize there were multiple locations. And if you are shopping online, I don't believe they include which location a particular item is at. While I realize it might be a security issue, driving an hour and a half (traffic was a bit of a nightmare) to Leeds to hear a staff member say, "Not sure if that one is here at this store" made my heart sink. If you are looking for a particular item, you may want to call ahead to make sure you end up at the right store. This location is in the Crossgate Shopping Centre with a couple of car parks available. From the outside, I saw that they do a bit more than jewelry... like pawnbroking, cheque cashing, etc. The store is small, but it is very nice inside. Mr. Snarky suggested we have a look at the window display and see if there were any rings I liked the look of that weren't on the website. After having a look, we buzzed to be let in and were warmly greeted. We did have to go back out in order to show them what rings we were interested in looking at and I did have to pull up a picture of the ring I was interested in so they could locate it. Fortunately the other staff member recognized it as soon as she saw it and said that she had seen it just the other day! Phew! I got to try them on and the lady told me more about each of the rings... the one I was very interested in was a previously owned ring, but was specially made... meaning it is one of a kind!!!! That's what I was looking for as I don't want the ring everyone else has. They offered free ring sizing, but were unsure of when it would be ready because of the holidays and offered to call me in a day when the man who does repairs and ring sizings would be in. First thing on Monday morning, I had a call and my ring will be ready this week! The two staff members have been so helpful and friendly and really made the process quite easy. They also asked what I was looking for and what the budget was and were able to provide some other options to look at... because every girl enjoys trying on rings! While I know they want to sell jewelry, they seemed genuinely excited about the ring I chose over the others because of its uniqueness. I am excited to go back and pick up the ring and we are even considering getting our wedding bands there!

At very nearly four months after several emails & calls telling me it wont be much longer, I receive an email out of the blue telling me they've refunded my payment & will be cancelling the credit agreement. I cant remember a time when I've been treated so badly by a company. The watch I ordered is still freely available in reputable retailers not buying from the "Grey market". I'd avoid this company like the plague in future, opting instead to purchase from a reputable source. Disgraceful to say the least!
