Rajput Jewelers is one of several specialists in Asian gold and silver jewellery in the area. It sells a range of jewellery, many pieces in 22 carat gold and embellished with diamonds. They also buy scrap jewellery so you could trade an unworn piece in to begin saving for one of their impressive necklaces or rings.
When I popped in for a browse I saw some rather cutesy-looking cartoonish flower studs and figured they would probably be the cheapest thing in the shop, upon enquiring about the price (the helpful and friendly young woman assistant had to act as translator for the elderly male proprietor), the earrings were weighed and I was informed they were £140. Now I'm sure this reflects their value gold-wise (as they were 22 carat gold) but they just didn't have the look quality and beauty that I think expensive jewellery ought to have and can't quite imagine why someone would by these over a similar pair on the high street for probably a twentieth of the price!
However, there are many pretty pieces in there that do own their price tag, with elaborate necklaces and earrings that look to be of very high quality and carefully designed. If you're looking for jewellery with an Asian aesthetic or just something different from the traditional British jewelers in the city centre you may find something special at Rajput Jewelers, but you must be prepared to pay the price for the quality. read more
