But no trace of that remains and The City Walls has been very well renovated indeed. When I first walked in, I thought it looked rather fancy! But then I spotted the football on the TV screens and the very slightly Wetherspoons-ish bar area and I realised that it's not quite as posh as the entry-way would indicate. It's actually very large and spacious inside, with lots and lots of seating. The decor is warm, muted, comfortable and done to quite a high standard. There isn't a huge amount of character or atmosphere, but you can't have everything. We had a couple of drinks, which were very nice indeed, and ordered lunch from some grubby, sticky menus. The waiter took our order from the table, instead of us needing to go to the bar to order, which is a nice touch for a pub. The food was really tasty! Myself and my party all seemed to find it really good, decent quality and portion sizes. For the price, which was very reasonable, I don't think you could fault it much.

Stirling's resident Yelp expert, Nicola C recommended here with the disclaimer of "I don't know what it's like during the day though." So, my friend and I pitched up to be greeted by two regulars at the door who told us the pub was closed. "Awwww, really?" I said. "Naw hen!" followed by much guffawing on their behalf. In we stumbled, both having a laugh at the two oldies. The bar was empty apart from one other old gent which seems reasonable for 4.30pm on a Friday. We got a couple of drinks (Thistly Cross bottles for £3.50 each which is what I pay for them in the supermarket!) and sat by the fire (which thankfully someone came and stoked the hell out of so it was absolutely roaring, and scorching hot). The bar had a nice relaxed vibe. By the time we were leaving one of the regulars was well steaming and came over to talk to the Australian lassies and generally give us a bit of a ribbing. He got us to sign the visitors book and was generally pretty funny - I even got a kiss as I was leaving. Lucky me. So, would I recommend going here? This location was no different. My boyfriend and I were in town on a weekend away when we noticed Capital Asset while out for a night stroll. We fancied a drink, so in we went. As per Wetherspoons usual, it was jammed pack with locals an travelers alike, everyone enjoying the night with drink in hand. We ordered a couple of our usual suspects, ciders and managed to snag a seat over by a window. We only stayed for a few as it was getting late and we wanted to get back to the hotel. Nice wee pub in a nice area of town, in a gorgeous building. It seems as many Wetherspoons are in nice old buildings, so it adds to the experience. If we're ever back in Perth, we'll stop back in.

The food took almost an hour to get to us, but with the great views and the live music, we really were not too bothered by this. We arrived to a casual setting with only 5 rooms available to rent. Our room is spacious and cozy. We made reservations at the restaurant and the food was fresh and light with many great option. After dinner we headed to the riverside Picnic tables to enjoy the lasting sunlight, a glass of wine and to watch the birds, a rainbow and relax. Even if you are passing through, it is worth having lunch and sitting riverside. We will be back. Love it here.
