We decided to…read morecheck this place out for lunch as they open quite late for dinner (7pm!) like many other French restaurants. As we came for lunch, they had special lunch set menu of either Entree (appetizer) + Plat (main entree) AND/OR dessert for a set price. The Plat of the day was Sea Bream and their grill of the day was a sirloin steak for an extra €2. We got both plus their magret (duck breast). This meal got two choices of sides, which we chose mashed potatoes and seasoned vegetables, and a sauce which we chose creamy mushroom. The portions were HUGE. For the price we're getting for lunch, it was a steal. The magret was delicious - just missing a bit of flavor in my opinion. Maybe pepper which was on the side? But perfectly cooked. My mom loved the mashed potatoes as she was getting a bit sick of chips (fries) LOL. The seasoned vegetables were soooo good. So much flavor rather than just the normal steamed broccoli we've been having. The sirloin was definitely missing a lot of flavor. I don't think it was seasoned as there was salt and pepper on the table to add to it. But there was a sauce we weren't sure of to give it some flavor. The sea bream was sauced nicely, but was quite heavy in my opinion. The presentation of it was beautiful though. Potato chips, whole potato and flavored mashed potatoes? all in one dish with the fish. Yum! I enjoyed the mashed potatoes? a lot. The restaurant also provided complimentary bread AND small canned pork pate. Nowhere else we've been gave complimentary pate. My mom and boyfriend LOVED it so much that we asked the server where this could be bought to bring back to friends and family. She was able to give us extra before we left and inform us where to buy more! So nice of her and the owner! Overall, I feel like this was a nice experience. The workers here were very friendly, and the food was good and beautifully presented.

Needed a restaurant that had seafood and they had multiple options and its very cute inside. Obviously, didn't have a reservation but the host was kind enough to seat us anyway (that doesn't always happen in Bordeaux). We started with the ceviche appetizer and we each got a seafood entree. It's been a couple of weeks so I don't remember exactly what I got - it was a filet and I think either seabass or monkfish. My wife's, on the other hand, was a whole fish and pulling bones out of her mouth kind of soured her on the meal. However, my fish was cooked perfectly and in a delicious broth. The veggies were perfect as well, and the ceviche was delicious. And, of course, the wine was wonderful. So it was a win for me. I'd probably go 4.5 stars if I could but I think 4 stars is too low. So even though I'm not a big believer in rounding up to 5 stars, I think this is an exception.

I figured the prices might be keeping out the regular tourists. We got three plates to share between the two of us. All were excellent but the veal ribeye steak was revelatory. Ribeye is my favorite cut and I've had hundreds of examples. Yet, the beautifully mild and incredibly juicy veal made me reconsider all my past choices. For the first time, I felt like royalty having a steak. Along with a glass of Bordeaux, the meal was only about 100 euros, a bargain for such memories. I spent the next two weeks looking for similar steaks around France, including in Lyon, to no avail. My attempts in the US have so far been abortive. I might have to come back to Bordeaux just for this steak.

The beef came out very rare after being assured that it would be well done and (this may be TMI but every bite almost had so much stringy tendons that had to be spit out). I know...not so much fun but what do you do once it's in your mouth? My food was inedible. Ceviche was fishy...hadnt been soaked long enough. No citrus flavor just fishy.. Just awful and then the guac???. Im not sure what they were going for but it was green. This dish should be served with chips or crackers at least. Caesar salad...does not usually come with crispy fried chicken...it had an odd dressing..a little bit of lettuce but mostly fried chicken pieces and the dressing is definitely not Caesar dressing or if it is...it was made last year. Im sorry Le Farre...I know you were packed. Standing room only. I don't know what Im missing but the food we had was just not enjoyable.

The menu is a bit Spanish but also French. They had a fixed meal option, but the prices on the food were not otherwise cheap. Starters were fairly solid - squid a la plancha and grilled vegetables with an olive tapenade. However, for the mains, the steak was just ok, and the accompanying fried were soggy and tasted like they were fried in old grease. The tartare was a big portion but was under seasoned and covered in way too much mayo. A lot of people were hanging out and smoking / drinking on the patio, and we didn't see any other tourists there (we wanted a more local place), but maybe we should have stuck to just drinks.
