I took it easy the rest of the day and by the following day I was worse. Being tough and macho, I decided to chill for the next several days to give my body time to recover. The recovery was minimal. I then scheduled an appt to see Dr. Audrey. She performed a thorough examination and assured me that no ligaments were torn. She also recommended two specific exercises and had me perform them in her office. The exercise seemed so counterintuitive to me that I decided I was not going to do them. It made no sense to me. I had a gig the following night and the muscles around the back of my right shoulder started to spasm 30 minutes after I started playing. It made for an EXCEPTIONALLY long 3-hour gig. I was desperate when I got home as I had gigs the following two evenings. I decided to do the exercised that Dr. Audrey suggested, ever so gingerly.
