I recently received a letter from Gonzaba Medical Group stating that they were reorganizing patient loads to better serve all patients. Unfortunately, my longtime primary care physician of many years was among those affected, and I was reassigned to a pool of seven different doctors. After my appeal to remain with my physician was denied, I decided to give the new system a chance. However, when I called to schedule an appointment with one of the assigned providers, I was told the earliest available appointment was December 2. If the purpose of this reorganization was to improve patient access and care, my experience has been the exact opposite. I even reached out to a patient advocate hoping someone would recognize the impact this has on long-term patients, but I was simply told that patients are free to seek care elsewhere. It is disappointing to see patient-provider relationships that have been built over many years dismissed so easily. Continuity of care matters, and telling loyal patients to find healthcare elsewhere is not the level of service I expected from an organization that claims to prioritize its patients. Shame on Gonzaba Medical Group for handling this transition in a way that leaves long-time patients feeling unheard and undervalued. read more

I had a bad experience just last Sunday. Had a bad rash on my neck. Went to urgent care on Pleasanton Rd. Received a prescription which made it worst. Tried to get appt. with primary doctor. Nurse at my primary said they had an appt for May 7. I replied i need just a referral for Dermatologist. She wanted to give me an appt @ 2:30pm I replied i was on an appointment at that time. This place really used to offer excellent care but the doctors are so swamped you barely get any time to talk to them. The urgent care is a joke, I've had several bad experiences where the PA on duty doesn't seem to take me seriously and tells me to take Tylenol, like as if I don't know my own body and pain. My experience with Gonzaba Medical Group has been mixed. I felt that having a female doctor as my provider would help because she would understand the changes I'm going through and maybe be a little more empathetic. That has not been the case. For that reason, I would not recommend my provider. I wouldn't want anyone else to feel like their health concerns were limited to 3 issues. If that is the case, then perhaps the provider should say, "Which three issues can I help you with today?" or "Let me schedule you for another appointment so we can discuss your other concerns." Went in for annual pap exam, got normal results but was denied a birth control prescription because the doctor's religious beliefs disagreed with me taking pills to avoid a pregnancy! I was a patient for several years and had never had any issues, I had an appointment and missed because had two immediate family members pass away. I called in February to schedule appointment and was given until May 2026. I called again to see if I was able to get a sooner appointment, they said they would call me back. so when they called me back they said sorry for the inconvenience but Dr is not taking new patients. So if I would have not called them, they would not let me know that the Dr was accepting patients. I have a couple of family members that we're going to Gonzaba, I spoke to them and they said that they looking for new Dr. that have not been happy going there on the Pleasanton location. The wait time is terrible. And I also had the issue, when I was just going to see the nurse for blood pressure and weight check I waited for an hour, and finally when I got called to the room, nurse said I will be back after waiting 10 minute, I left. read more

Bring a lunch it's going to be a while. I checked in at 1:45. 3 hours later, it's closed and still waiting. I read the reviews thinking some people exaggerate but it's real the wait is crazy long. One PA trying to handle 20 plus walks in's is insane. Texas med care is in and out within a hour. Avoid at all costs save yourself a huge headache. It's just not worth the wait. read more

The staff in the Urgent Care Facility plays around too much. I got there at 12:28 pm on 12/2/24. There was only 1 person in the waiting room. Then a lady came out making it 3 people in the waiting room. They tool me to a back room to wait for a nurse. While I was waiting I could hear the staff talking and laughing. I finally got tired of waiting an walked out of the room at 1:15 pm. There were 2 staff members just standing there talking. I told them I would be back when they are ready to start working. I filed a complaint with the main office. I found another urgent care down the road with better reviews. Will not be going back to Gonzaba Urgent Care. They need to put monitors in the Urgent Care area. Make sure staff are working. read more

She was going to give me her favorite medication, Wellbutrin, but failed to call in prescription, however, she called in 2 others we were quitting yesterday. Was referred to this location for physical therapy by my GMG PCP due to MRI results. Front office staff were very friendly and professional each visit. My health history was discussed with a physician & a treatment plan was created. Each PT session consisted of stretching & movement. A heat modality was applied as well. A few times it was applied prior to the session but the majority of time, it was applied at the conclusion. Within 3 PT sessions, improvement was noticeable. At the completion of all sessions, it was if the issues I was treating for had never existed. Thank you GMG PT!! read more

Saturday March 2.2024 I visited the Lab, only 2 working with an office full of patients waiting. They worked feverishly to take care of everyone. They remained extremely pleasant and kind to all the patients. Ana constantly came out to the waiting area, checking on everyone and apologizing for the wait due to only 2 technicians working. Everyone remained calm and appreciative get attentiveness! I want to thank Ana and the other Female Technicians for the Outstanding Job they did, while short staffed. The wait here - both in person and on the phone are unbelievable. I called to get my prescription sent to a new pharmacy - a simple ask - and I was on hold for 40 minutes. It turns out that I needed a pre-authorization so I called back (not trusting that they would respond to the pharmacy request in a timely manner) and I was on hold for another 50 minutes. (This is longer than it took me to speak to someone at the IRS!) The person who answered the phone told me that I would get a call back from the nurse. This is absurd! I do not recommend this practice to anyone. They make you wait forever, but are very quick to collect their bills. read more

The man taking the vístale was rude and rough in my 80 year old uncle. The clinic is situated in an area of SA with 98% Hispanics, but he said he didn't speak Spanish. I told him i was there to translate. He just roughly grabbed my uncles hand and pricked his finger without warning to get a blood sample. He Didn't bother to attempt to establish a rapport with my uncle who was in pain from falling on the sidewalk. He seemed rushed and to be in a bad mood. I explained my uncle wanted to get check out due to the fall but also wanted to have his potassium level checked. Meaning he felt weak and that is why he fell. When an similar incident happened in December the ER staff said his potassium was low and was severely dehydrated. But the man here at Gonzaba taking his vitals insisted only putting that he fell. I had to make sure he put we were here to get everything related to the fall, including feeling weak, in his chart. read more

This practice used to care about their patients. Now you can't get someone on phone for refill prescription. My daughter created a patient portal for me to send questions. No response ever. I definitely don't need to waste my time at a practice that acts like they care about people. No. All their staff show is that they are tired, probably burned out and attitude says 'sure, go somewhere else-We are too busy to take care of you right now'. A patient was seen by one of their doctors for an infected wound. Dr Laura Pinon stated she was going to send referral to wound care clinic. We have been calling multiple times to no avail. Gonzaba medical group states every time that they have faxed the referral, however, wound care clinic has not received it. Today Gonzaba group stated they faxed referral about a month ago. This means that the times that we have called requesting the referral to be faxed, they have been giving us inaccurate information stating they were refaxing it every time. read more

Very disappointed with the lack of availability. Called and waited on hold for over 8 minutes until system asked for a call back. Received a call back. The rep asked for my insurance info. Was having issues finding it, then put me on hold for a while. Then came back saying that no doctors at ANY locations were accepting new patients. I asked why she didn't lead with that. Brought my wife here today for some daily treatments from an outpatient surgery she got. Pulled up sweet. Parking right in front by the disabled parking. Pulled up and was gonna back in so wife had plenty of room to get out. Since she has a difficult time walking because of the surgery. But unfortunately as I'm getting ready to back in. Some I'm assuming an asshole whips in and takes the spot. Okay. This place is urgent care. Maybe it's an emergency. But no. It's some old bastard security guard. They did not take care of my ear infection and I got worse and ended up in hospital.

These folks make you wait on the phone for 30 mins, then ask you leave your number in que. 30 mins later they call only to tell you the can set up a telehealth appt. 1.5 hrs later you get the text only to wait again, another 45 mins. Whatever their system is, it's highly flawed! My parents are elderly and ho to them, they obviously care less about making elderly wait for extended periods of time. I would never use these guys, much better going to Texas Med or other minor emergency. They sucker the elderly in, and take advantage of them by keeping them in their circle for everything. Now they get stuck and getting out is a major hassle. Avoid them and watch your seniors! read more

There is truly a disconnect in communication between medical staff to front desk to patients. I scheduled a new patient physical with a doctor at this office, back in December. I scheduled the appointment several months out. I called in December to be seen in March. I called the day before my appointment to confirm that I had the appointment. I found it odd that I did not receive a reminder text or voicemail to remind me of my appointment. When I spoke to the scheduler or front desk person, she tells me that the doctor is not working that day. What ever happened to common courtesy?! If you are out on vacation, reschedule your patients. Thank God I had the common sense to call and confirm, it would have been a total waste of my time to show up and be told when I got there or worse made to wait and then be told. The kicker here is when the scheduler looked at the next available new patient appointment, the earliest she could fit me in was July 2020. As a whole, this practice would be funny if it wasn't so scary that they call themselves medical professionals. My wife and I both tried this practice after moving here just months ago. I saw a doctor twice with no real check up. He changed or put in my prescriptions wrong (either is unexceptionable) that came from my doctor of 10 years. Of which he never requested records! I have been a patient at the Culebra location for about 6 years I like my primary doctor when I can get him usually booked up. The PA's are normally ok. But an encounter with a specific PA on my last two visits ruined it for me. She seemed to have a motive to get me. She was very abupt asked me and alot of questions about thing that should have been right there on my chart and kind of rushed me out of without addressing then second reason I was there. And it only got worse from there by end of the visit or should I say interrogation I was falsey accused of trying to getting her to commit disability fraud my behalf when I asked if she could fill out a form she assumed I had brought in the day of visit I got reprimanded and lectured about policy and procedure of the office and that I didn't send them the paperwork in a timely manner. Come to find out my disability company had forwarded them a copy of the paperwork previously prior to both visit nobody in that location bothered to forward it to the PA so they actually had the information in timely manner and all of this could have been avoided if they could have forward it to the PA it wasn't my fault I guess in her exuberance to get me they never acknowledge it was received in all my years on this Earth I have never seen a poor example of incompetence. So in theory what medical company has a policy go after the patient because he needs to be taught a lesson, At the time the Managers were speaking they made it worse with there accusations. Needless to say I extremely irate to point where I could not see straight was there over three hours listen to them again interrogating me about my medical history. There have been quite a few changes over the years to the offices, but service still remains good. It is definitely a busy location, so I always try to get my appointments in the morning. never have a good experience here. First time I went in I had a wart on my right leg on my knee. I went kinda late because I was in sports at the time. After waiting about a good 30 minutes the nurse practitioners came in to check on it. Just letting me know it was a wart like yes I'm aware of that.. his response was, "i had one like that and I just put duck tape and ripped it off." when I came in for them to freeze it off! I've been very disappointed in this medical practice, but only with my primary care physician. The lab, X-ray, dermatologist and rheumatologist were all wonderful. However, getting test results from my primary doctor, referrals to specialists, and questions answered have been horrible. I've been waiting for a cardiologist referral for 3 months now, my meds are currently making my legs and feet so painful I can barely walk, I've had to miss some work and have to sit to do my standing job. My first visit to their urgent care was wonderful, this second visit no so good.(I had to go to the Urgent Care because my primary doc will not return my call). I've worked in the medical field over 30 years and have never seen or heard of this kind of treatment by any physician. Today I'm calling the office manager. if I don't hear from my physician today, tomorrow I'm calling Medicare and reporting him for elder abuse. He treated my husband the same way and has appeared very prejudiced against us. I will not mention his name here out of respect, which is more than he gave me. I really want to stay with the practice, I love the facility and rest of the staff I've encountered. I'd hate to think one bad apple spoils the whole facility. In conclusion, I feel this particular physician has no clue how to treat my symptoms and treat me as a human being or simply does not care. read more
