Alas, I would have been wrong as this itty bitty town affords a most charming shopping experience in the form of Willamina Merchants! They tout half locally made goods and crafts, half vintage treasures, plus annuals, perennials, and houseplants as seasonally available. Oh, lots of wine and cider, too! This is truly the sort of store that you never know what you'll find, thus I end up here at least once a month if not more. A couple of my favorite finds? A hand-thrown mushroom mug, planters with small crystal wands attached, charcoal tooth powder, Albatross razors and blades, framed vintage embroidery, Missionary chocolates, a chicken oil painting, Jacobsen salts, 1950's party dresses, and stained-glass ornaments. Parking is only available on the street, but as this is Willamina, that will pose no trouble unless it is Independence Day (y'all, they don't mess around when it comes to the Fourth 'round these parts!). However, the few pictures of the inside of the shop did draw me in and stood apart from the other spiritual shops in the surrounding area. My friend was looking for runes and I was curious what treasures I would find. The treasure I found was not of the material goods but the connection with the owner Kristie. I have an inquisitive mind that can never be satisfied. As an Aquarius in the Age of Aquarius, I've felt like I was summoned to help others but had no idea how. By watching and engaging with Kristie, I understand by aiding others in their spiritual growth, I evolve through small acts of kindness (it didn't need to be a grand gesture or some self-sacrificing ritual). A few things I found and love are the candles, specifically the mugwort candle, brass lockets, bone runes, pocket watch, and the seer. I love sewing creating just about anything. But was worn out so I took it to Montevilla Sewing Ctr... their best technician, Gary rebuilt it like new! And unbelievable they didn't charge as much as I expected, andI would've paid twice that because was worth it! A few years later I'd worn it out again and Gary made it almost new again, but he told me was probably time to get a new machine so I decided they were right... I was giving the best deal ever On the Ellagio, but I've worn that one out too. and also got a BL serger...& a 6 needle/thread BL embroidery machine .... ive sewn a few hundred miles of stitches! so far it hasn't worn out. When I had a problem with one of the machines...no questions asked they replaced it immediately only to discover it was operator error my but they we're always kind and gracious. I need to replace my worn out machine soon and I know they will do the best for my next purchase! I will never go anywhere else! Montevilla Sewing has earned my trust! They came back and said the earrings would be ready in a couple of days and they were only going to cost $20!!! The very next day I received a text from Shayla Lynn Jewelry saying that the earrings were ready for pick up! Once again I sent my niece off to pick them up and they were perfect!
