Of the two Pinot selections available to order by the glass, a WA/CA and a French selection, the FR was very oxidized - it was surprising that the server didn't know this. After a few days of drinking great local beer, I was done! We found this small wine shop on the way home, about an hour before they were set to close. Sarah and her husband were extremely helpful and friendly with helping us score some amazing Pinot Noir. Sarah chatted about each bottle, how they were farmed, the farmers techniques and etc; and each bottle turned out to be amazing, so much so that after this review I am sending her an email since I cannot remember the name of the wine and the wife recycled the bottle before I wrote it down. So if you love your wine, you MUST check these guys out. According to them, they strive to have wines you cannot find in your local stores, in order to be unique. We've been here a couple of times and really enjoyed ourselves. We came last year when Willamette Vineyards hosted a tasting and then again recently with girlfriends. Tiny inside just a few chairs, but they have some seating outside, and they have a really good sized selection. What an awesome spot. Initially, walking by, we thought it was just a wine store...but then noticed a couple of tables and a man sitting with a glass of wine. We were in! Let's just say that a few hours later, a few great glasses of wine had been had, great conversations and new friends made, and Beckie had recommended a few awesome wines that we'd never heard of. She also took the time to source a champagne that I like but they didn't have in, and let us know about the upcoming champagne tastings...which we went to and were fantastic. Quaint little shop so I was excited to try some of the local wines. Turns out that none of the wines were local, which would be fine, except for the service we received was awful. Granted, I was dressed down in athletic shorts and a tee since I had been driving all day, but I've never been served more poorly. The Good Drop Wine Shoppe is a MUST!!! We were drawn to this shop by its name, my boyfriend giggled and as he said it out loud it made me peak inside. I asked him to come in so I could show him a few of their display cases I had seen earlier this morning via Pinterest(we are first time home owners so Pinterest finds have been my go to lately). As we walked in we were greeted by a stunning women named Amy Moore. Amy chatted with us for a quick minute on the shop displays and through the conversation it lead to us excitedly wanting to taste Oregon sourced wine! Amy has a passion for wine and people, that was easy to see and most importantly feel. We spent some time wine tasting and having the most genuine conversations over a taste of red & rosé. As amazing as the wine was(seriously we were really blown away be the selection in a small town shop) the genuine conversation and warmth of Amy was what kept us there & truly made our experience passing through Bend, OR. To top off the ending of our road trip Amy went out of her way to reach out to the shop owner to find out if any of their wine boxes(yes the decorative boxes displayed in the store) were for sale. They were & wow were we blown away at effort Amy went through to find them down stairs & pull them out one-by-one for us to select from! She truly went above and beyond for my boyfriend & I. This is my second review. I took the original down due to change of ownership. I had posted a one star review due to being very disappointed with recommendation. From the original owners, I asked for sweet desert wine, and out of the three bottles of wine I had purchased (~ $60 spent), none were to my satisfaction. After reading my review, the new owner Sarah reached out to me, and provided me with a bottle she was convinced I would enjoy. She was right!! I got a bottle of "pass the cookies" which was most excellent!! Now I know that GDWS is a place I can rely on for getting some excellent desert wine! read more

Being an out of state visitor to Bend I was impressed with Oregon's wines. When visiting Bend I approached the Good Drop Wine Shoppe and suggested periodic shipments of pinot noir from wineries with limited distribution. I talked with Sarah Worley and indicated my interest in pinot noir. My initial shipments were satisfactory but soon I was getting wine way over my price point (some more than $160/btl). I called her and indicated my price point and varietal choice (i.e. pinot) Soon I was getting older vintages of champagne, syrah, cab savignon, chardonnay. I got the impression that whatever didn't sell was shipped to me. Fortunately, my credit card number was changed so that automatic charges stopped. I paid the last bill by check in January, 2020. Despite having paid the bill in full Sarah mailed a bill for the last shipment to my office in March, 2020. On the outside of the letter she prints "One hundred days overdue". I sent her a copy of the cancelled check and haven't received a response. My experience should caution people from participating in a wine club even with explicit instructions and having any confidence in their accounting system. read more

Good Drop is an excellent wine shop. You can find a great bottle here at almost any price point. Not only are you supporting a great local business, but Robert has actually tasted most if not all the bottles he has in the shop. The best part in my opinion though is that you can actually open and drink a glass or two of that bottle you just purchased, while discussing it in detail with a very knowledgeable wine lover. My wife and I wandered in on a Saturday afternoon with a few hours to kill before going to a movie. Lynn had mentioned before that she would like to taste a moderately priced wine next to a more expensive bottle of the same variety just to see if the extra cost was worth it. So Robert suggested a couple bottles at each end of our price spectrum and we settled in for what would come to be known as "The Tempranillo Challange". Despite enjoying wine for many years, Lynn and I are pretty much at the "yum or yuck" stage of wine tasting. Having someone to basically coach us made a world of difference. I think for the first time we both felt like we finally understood what all those lofty adjectives commonly used in wine tasting notes are all about. Wow what a find in Bend! My husband and I were visiting from Northern CA and stumbled upon this place. Robert, the owner helped us pick out a bottle of champagne, a white and a red for a celebratory dinner last night and his recommendations were spot on. He really knows his stuff and has a very unique ensemble of wines.
