They have a good menu without having to look through 15 pages. Always an added plus is the cleanliness, both in the dining area and the restrooms. Strongly recommend the quinao hash browns for a side. My wife got the GE omelette and I coin-tossed between the Cubane and the GE burger. The burger won and so did I. Wow! For a random stop in the Sandhill Crane capital this was a definite win. I ordered the Mexican power bowl - absolutely delicious, my only complaint was maybe too much hash and it wasn't super crispy but the adobe pork was seasoned to perfection, loved all the veggies and pickled onion. C'mon who doesn't love Mexican street corn? Service was quick and easy. Loved the modern farmhouse decor. I ordered the strawberry poptart to go but had a quick bite before I left. Good Evans is a very popular spot in Kearney, especially on a Saturday morning! The wait wasn't too bad though, just about 20 minutes. During those 20 minutes we got to observe a whole lot about this popular eatery! Two young men were the greeters and seaters! One seemed very disinterested and stressed, the other at least gave folks a smile when he greeted them. Both seemed to do a lot of huffing and puffing and under the breath complaining. Being the first impression, we were skeptical but decided to wait it out since it was so crowded and Good Evans has such great reviews. We were seated at the table right at the kitchen so we got to again, observe a lot about the eatery!! Our server was fabulous, super friendly, funny and enjoyable, she's the reason for the 4 stars! The majority of the other servers seemed to be lacking any joy in their life, they were literally walking around with scowls and frowns. Servers are part of the first impression and the majority made it look like a super stressful place. The food is okay, I mean it's good, just not what we were expecting with the reviews and crowd. The Mimosas are weak, as was the Bloody Mary, the tots were barely warm and a bit on the soggy side, the Reuben was scant on the corned beef and the hash browns were super dry! Breakfast. My favorite meal of the day when traveling! After reviewing my options, I settled on Good Evans, and I'm glad I did. The wait time was minimal. The atmosphere was modern and charming. There were several things I wanted to try, but I settled on the Southern Bowl which was an explosion of flavors combining pulled pork, pickled onions, spinach, and grits with a poached egg. My travel partner had the Breakfast Pie which was equally flavorful in a different way. Highly recommend both dishes, but there are many other options. The portions are quite generous, and you should leave on a full stomach to power you through most of the day. Additionally, you should definitely get a pop tart. We share a caramel apple one which was warm, oozing, and topped with whip cream. It melts in your mouth and is just so good! (Strawberry was also an option, and I wish I had tried it too.) Oh my! Here we go.. Servers are inappropriate. My wife went to the bathroom. She is very attractive and while she was wearing a shorter than normal skirt, that doesn't mean she needs to be harassed nor does it mean she wanted to be with the cook. A go-to brunch spot in Kearney. It is a bit pricey but most of the time the food quality is worth it.

Clean, neat, friendly, and, from the menu, looks like good hearty home cooking. The food did not disappoint! I scrapped my plate clean, while the coffee was bright and fresh (not burnt tasting and I am a well known coffee snob). My wife had the Southern Bowl and she loved it! Both our dishes came with bbq meats that added great flavor, fresh greens, and perfectly done eggs. The service was attentive but not overly so and allowed us to pace our own process. Definitely a winner. Only draw back was it was a little chilly inside but wear a hoodie and you are good to go. Will definitely have Good Evans on our map on our next road trip through NE. read more

The menu was filled with several amazing options, it's too bad we aren't in town long enough to keep coming back to try all the things that sound amazing. As a fan of eggs benedict, all of their bene's looked great, I went with the Nebraska Bene, its toppings were generous. The Mrs. enjoyed the oatmeal, which was delicious and included several mix-in embellishments, including genuine honeycomb. The one thing that kept this from a four star review is that the oatmeal was delivered maybe ten minutes later than everything else. When her pancake and my benedict came out, we were told it would be a few more minutes, but after perhaps five, our server came and apologized, saying it had been delivered to another customer. I stopped eating, to wait so we could eat together, and my food cooled off because of the long wait. Not necessarily our server's fault, but we would have appreciated a discount or some other compensatory acknowledgement for this experience, it really dampened the breakfast mood. Customer service matters. Nonetheless, will definitely return when the opportunity presents itself again and give them a shot at redemption. read more

What's a girl's trip without a really good breakfast place? Meh. A girl's trip the day after a much anticipated reunion and talking all night followed by eating at a lovely breakfast place in a tiny town in the middle of the continent? AWESOME! I quickly looked up a few breakfast places prior to my friend's and my departure from our respective cities we were driving from and sent them links via Yelp for them to look over and see which one enticed them the most. My bestie chose Good Evans for breakfast and that Saturday morning we were off to find this gem of goodness. When we first walked in the picture of the veggie Benedict immediately caught my eye! It had a pesto sauce drizzled on top with artichoke hearts as well. For me, those are quite the unique choices for a Benedict in breakfast joints, and I'm all about trying new pairings and seeing if they harmonize well. I bet you're wondering what the verdict was? Well, they absolutely DID harmonize well! I even added some avocado to get in some good for you fats on my benny. When it arrived to the table I was delightfully surprised that they maintained their beautiful presentation with the addition of the avocado. They simply placed it as the first topping on the English muffin and added their normal ingredients on top. A tiny detail but thoughtful and one my foodies eyes noticed. The Benedict was delicious! I loved the artichoke hearts and the addition of the pesto sauce! I want to try to make this at home someday! My gals also enjoyed their meals very much and we all commented on how busy this restaurant would be if they were in a bigger city! Another dish that we ordered to share but forgot to take a picture of was the chocolate peanut butter pancakes! We weren't sure how this one would turn out and each of thought that it would be presented with a peanut butter like sauce. Meh. BUT we were wrong! It was chocolate and peanut butter chips within the pancakes!! They were amazing!! Another small note which was super cool to see. The tables have little burnt carvings in them saying they were made in Nebraska! The perfect cute detail for my gals who had never been to Nebraska to experience. Customer service was also great, our server was attentive and helpful! I'm not sure when or if I'll make it to Kearney again, but until then I'm going to try my hand at replicating their delicious and beautiful veggie Benedict! read more

On our way home from vacation we found this place was open for breakfast. It was good. Our friends had a yogurt bowl and a Cambridge (eggs Benedict version). My husband had pancakes and a side of sausage I had biscuits and gravy with eggs. Our friend said the Hollandaise sauce was a little too much on the mayonnaise side for him and ended up scraping it off. But they all said the pancakes were homemade and were delicious. The fruit on the yogurt bowl was fresh. My biscuits were loaded with thick sausage gravy with big pieces of sausage. Sadly it was too much gravy for me, but my eggs were perfectly cooked over medium.
