I cannot say enough amazing things about Good Face Spa! Lori is a miracle worker. I've been going to her for about a year now and always leave feeling refreshed and glowy. I recently moved from LA to NY about a month ago. I've been getting regular facials for the past six months or so and was hoping I had found an esthetician I could regularly go to here. The space and staff were very nice, I just didn't get the results I expected from my facial. The esthetician I was going to in LA really turned my complexion around. She cleaned up my face tremendously and while my face was red and splotchy upon leaving, it always looked amazing when I woke up the next day. She spent about 5 minutes talking with me before each facial to see if I'd changed any of my products so she knew what to use on my face, what to recommend, etc. The esthetician at Good Face didn't spend time asking what products I use, how I felt the quality of my skin was, or anything like that before we started the facial which was a red flag. She was asking me about it during the facial. And when I left, it didn't look like I had anything done to my face and then on top of that, I dealt with breakouts along my chin for the following week. This has never ever happened to me before and I feel like it's possibly because she wasn't aggressive enough on the extractions. It seemed like she was relying more on her fingers than the tools and she didn't spend nearly as much time on it as my old esthetician did. I'm not sure what the exact cause was, but either way I didn't get great results from it. There's plenty of great reviews here which is why I wanted to try it, so obviously it works for some people. Had an amazing experience last weekend getting a Bespoke Facial with LED light treatment from Lori. She really listened to the skin concerns I had and crafted a specialized plan for me which was really cool and probably the first time that's happened in all the years I've been going for facials. It had been quite a long time since I'd had one (I'm sure we can all relate) so Lori had her work cut out but the result is fantastic and I am sooo glad I went. One week later and my pores have shrunk, my skin feels tighter (in a good way) and the skin issues I went in with (e.g., sun damage, milia, etc.) are under control now. Lori was nice and very friendly. However, due to my facial and peel, I'm left with rough and dry skin. I had a facial and a peel a few days ago. She told me that a peel would be better for my skin since it is less harsh and wouldn't dry my skin out. HA! Totally false. Two days later, I felt my skin was a little itchy but didn't think too much of it. Yesterday morning (3 days after the facial) I woke up with super dry and rough skin from my cheekbones to my jaw line. The peel totally dried out my skin. Now i can do is moisturizer like crazy and hope that my skin will smooth and soften in a few days. I walked in with MUCH better skin (she even complimented on how great my skin is) and now...not so much. Super disappointed. Only giving it a 2 star because she was nice. read more

I had the radio frequency skin tighten done on my face. We did 8 sessions over 8 weeks. It took about 30 minutes per session. I absolutely loved it. So relaxing and completely painless. Lori puts you at ease right away. She is clearly confident and knowledgeable in her field. Great music and atmosphere. Since Spring has hit my skin has been GARBAGE. One day it's dry one day it's oily everyday there is some new red splotch... it's awful. So, I decided to get a facial. I have had 2 before this one and they were painful and not relaxing (think back room full of boxes in a threading studio on 33rd...). I booked with Lori and crossed my fingers that I wouldn't find myself in a nail salon dungeon. The space was clean and fresh, neutral and calming. She asked me if I had allergies, including food, and I do so I told her- good thing because what I'm allergic to is in ALL KINDS OF FACIAL ITEMS (hence why I always thought facials were painful- I was having an allergic reaction). She adjusted her products accordingly and told me to always tell anyone working on my skin of any allergy- of any kind. With that out of the way she massaged and scrubbed and buffed and extracted my skin. It was a little red when I left but my pores are smaller and my face is soft and no more splotches. It was so relaxing that I fell asleep on her table. Need I say more? This was the most professional and least painful facial I've ever gotten. It was just her and I and no ringing phones- no people waiting or getting their nails done in the other room- no weird acetone smells- no pain. Just a nice candle and a quiet space with a professional who knows her craft. It was a great way to treat myself on a Saturday. Highly recommended. Let me start by saying I've been going to Lori for facials for over a year and have referred multiple people to her, some of whom have also become regular clients. A few weeks ago I missed my first appointment, which is admittedly my fault and for which I apologized. But the way Lori spoke to me about it that day was extremely rude and unprofessional. I would also like to state that this review is not about the money, it's about treating people with respect. In the past I've noticed Lori's people skills have been lacking at times, but she's always been nice to me. That day it felt like she had no idea who I was! Her tone of voice was hostile and, to be frank, it was mean. I felt like I was being reprimanded by a parent. I was out with someone at the time of the call and they heard the whole thing. It was embarrassing the way her voice rose when she scolded me about how much money I was costing her. I am an ADULT. I do not need the lecture. I apologized again and told her to charge me. That should have been the end of the discussion, but it was not. She continued to chew me out. At the end of the call I was in shock. I took the time to think it over and came to the conclusion that I don't need to go back to Lori's business and surround myself with that negative energy. I've worked in the service industry for years so I don't take posting a negative comment online lightly either. However, in this situation I felt it necessary. She needs to know she cannot talk to her clients this way. I have NEVER done that to a client, even ones that were repeat cancellation offenders. Everyone has a life that you don't know about. Things happen and the way you deal with them is really what matters. Lori has lost not only me as a client, but the others I had referred to her now. I hope in the future she handles her temper a little better when someone has made an honest mistake. We're all human. read more

It's been a week since my facial with Lori. Summer has done everything but keep my skin clear. I booked a purifying facial for my skin crisis on a Monday night. Her studio was conveniently a few blocks from my apartment. It was clean, inviting, and relaxing. We chatted about my skin concerns, i.e. pimples, blackheads, and she listened non-judgmentally. The facial was incredible. She informed me of each step and the benefits of her regimen. The supplementary massages were delightful. I did not want to get up! I use good products: Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, Fresh Umbrian Clay Oil-Free Lotion, and an Elizabeth Arden salicylic acid spot treatment. So, I had questions and concerns about my skin. Lori agreed that quality goes a long way but stated that flare-ups are often a result from a variety of factors: sweat, stress, diet, picking and popping, and dry-oily cycles. I exercise regularly, stress tirelessly, and eat healthy. I learned from Lori that certain healthy food items can actually exacerbate acne. She mentioned that the calcium in dairy products (busting the hormone myth) and in vegetables like kale affect skin. Though immediately after the facial, my skin felt clean, it took a few days to clear up. In the meantime, I bought some broke girl friendly products Lori recommended: Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs and Rosewater to balance PH levels during the day ($12 for an 8oz bottle on Amazon) and an exfoliant. I might splurge on a Dermalogica exfoliant in the future but Lori suggested going for any organic product that you might find in a health food store. I found an Aubrey Organics Clarifying Therapy Clay Mask at Whole Foods ($13 for 3oz) which an employee actually gave me for free to try out and return if I don't like it. So far, so good. Seven days later, my face is smooth, my pores are diminished, and my pimples have largely subsided. I have actually left my apartment sans makeup, which is something I have rarely done in my adult years. THANK YOU, Lori. I am looking forward to a fall facial at Good Face. read more

Lori was amazing! I found her through Yelp and boy am I happy I did. The space is beautiful; the building is fairly nondescript, but once inside it smells amazing and there is a ton of space and natural light and materials. Lori is extremely nice and really listens; my skin changed dramatically this past year, and I really needed someone who would listen to all of my questions about products and concerns and recommend a holistic treatment. She helped me map out a better skincare plan, and her facial transformed my skin. After 10 months of hiding my skin under makeup, a week after her facial someone told me I had the nicest skin they'd ever seen. If that's not an endorsement, I don't know what is! What a great find in Williamsburg. Lori has created a very peaceful spa studio. I had a custom facial and she really paid attention to my skin and created a truly customized facial for my needs. Even my least fave part of any facial - extractions - were a breeze and no redness after! My skin glowed afterwards. I can't recommend her enough. I think she's worth a trip from the city, but I'm very glad Good Face has moved into my neighborhood. Other pluses: Good Face uses really quality products, and there is a lovely arm and neck massage during the facial. So it's not at all harsh for my super sensitive skin. My skin looks and feels immediately fresher, brighter, more clear. Better yet, I haven't had a facial with such long-lasting results. I went to good face after seeing all the rave reviews on Yelp since it's pretty close to my home. By seeing the reviews and the website you would assume that Lori is the only one doing facials here (which was the experience that I was looking forward to) but when I got there I had been scheduled with Alexis. She was very nice but I don't think she had the level of experience that Lori does. She hardly spent any time in extractions (basically only did my nose) and was not very communicative throughout the process and didn't seem to have much of a sense for when I was in pain during extractions or uncomfortable in general. I've had facials before and felt like a lot more attention was put on extractions. In all fairness there were definitely relaxing moments but it wasn't the grand experience everyone else mentioned. On a more general note, the room where I had the facial was tiny and there was absolutely no air or ventilation. This in combination with a very fuzzy warm blanket and the steamer felt super uncomfortable as it was really hot in the room. The music was quite loud also for the size of the room and it kept turning on and off which was a bit disruptive. All in all it was an ok experience - I'd probably try it again and would make sure to ask for Lori next time as I feel the reviews I've seen are more about her than the place. read more

Lori @ Good Face is a skin genius! I never write reviews but I just had to share the love. I've been to many of the 'Top' NYC spas such as Rescue Spa, Tracie Martyn, Mario Badescu, etc but no one has ever cared as much, been as personable or understood my skin aswell as Lori. Her knowledge and skills far surpass any other aesthetician I've been to. She also helped carve out the ideal skin care regime for my skin issues in an honest and sincere way that wasn't about selling products but actually about treatment and care plus she debunked a lot of product myths about which treatments are a waste of time and money and what's not. I didn't think it was possible for my skin to look this good! It's actually transformed, it looked almost flawless one day after treatment. She also diagnosed a skin issue (Pityrosporum Folliculitis) that I've spent years seeing Dermatologists about that could never accurately diagnose or treat effectively. I don't trust anyone but Lori now not just for treatments but for advice. Will never miss a monthly appointment. Good face devotee for life! read more

I would always end up feeling like I was hearing different feedback from my consultation - and would leave with a bag of products that didn't fit my skin. In my first consultation with Lori, I knew she was different. She takes time to inspect your skin and discusses at length your skin type needs. She's not there to push product or treatments and she will work with you to create a plan of attack to treat your skin. I have been seeing Lori for 2+ years and she is one of the best estheticians I have been to. I work out a lot, travel a lot, am terrible with keeping a set routine (e.g. all the steps for SoKo beauty), and love to try out new skin care products. Basically a nightmare to myself, no wonder I was having such a hard time keeping my skin happy and congestion-free! I'm sure I was feeling in need of a reset and some intense hydration when I booked with Lori for the first time. As she started cleansing my skin, we discussed what products I was using at home, and she suggested some changes, e.g. one of the popular serums at Sephora I was using was probably too strong and drying for my skin. We also discussed skin concerns (dry, sensitive, reactive, clogged pores). This conversation is repeated each time to catch any changes needed, e.g. seasonal, treatment. Extractions are performed expertly and are effective but punishment-free, leaving an overall feeling of relaxation at the end of the hour. The soothing massage during the mask is a bonus! Lori was very nice, knowledgeable, and the prices were very good. However, I have to write about one downside I experienced. I can't recommend her unconditionally because she scarred my face during her extractions. I get these very deep clogged pores that sit and sit for months until they come to a head in a horrible swollen painful zit. The only way to deal with them is to get them early on when they're still small little bumps. Lori was obviously struggling with the extractions, which were more painful that I usually experience, and I noticed she relied a lot more on using her fingers to push the skin than my previous esthetician. I left with a bruised face that felt the same way it does when I try to pop zits in my bathroom. The next day, every pimple she tackled was scabbed, and two of them badly so. I scar for a long time so I am pretty upset. That said, Lori was very attentive, and every other aspect of the facial was really good, including the massages. She uses a lot of really good products and really takes her time. I would definitely recommend her if you do not have the type of pimples that sit deep under the skin. read more

It's been a while since I have had a facial and was feeling my skin was looking drab and it was time to treat myself! I decided to do the classic facial. I walked in and loved the ambience, decor and soothing music. Lori was very friendly and informative. I had many skin questions and she covered all of them.
