In that time, I sat through multiple two-hour meetings signing tax documents I was told would be filed. A lot of that time was spent listening to him talk about his personal life and, on more than one occasion, make comments that felt more like flirting than professionalism. In 2024, I asked him to send over my tax filings because I was house hunting and wanted them on hand in case my bank needed them. Instead of sending them, he asked who needed them, and when I said it was just for my records, he told me to have the bank contact him directly. That response didn't sit right with me, so I kept asking for copies. After repeated requests, I discovered the truth: my taxes had never actually been filed. Years of meetings, years of payments, and nothing to show for it but a mess I now have to clean up. I've since learned I'm not the only client this happened to. Another business owner I know went through the same thing with him during Covid. If you're looking for a bookkeeper or tax preparer, look elsewhere. Based on my experience, Marcus is better at making conversation than filing paperwork.
