And after falling in love with her work, I contacted her to do a maternity shoot for my growing belly :) We booked out a few months, for when I would be between 7-8 months pregnant. My boyfriend and I had SUCH a fun time shooting with Melissa. She is an absolute sweetheart and made us both so comfortable. We never once got bored or felt awkward. She listened to what we wanted (my requests were far from demanding, we just wanted a few nice black & white prints.. and we both have tattoos so we wanted to look as tasteful as possible.. the rest was in her creative hands!) and she worked masterfully- quickly & precisely- behind that camera! When we did our ordering session, we had the hardest time picking out just a few to print.. but we finally narrowed it down to 6 favorites and we are so happy with the quality of the matted prints (I've got them all framed, they're just waiting to go up on the walls!) We have just scheduled our Baby's sessions! I'm not looking forward to that ordering session because I already know we are going to want them all haha! Even though the first time we met was right on the wedding day, she made me and everyone else feel very comfortable and relaxed. So the photos came out great and very natural. Her husband Jaildo came with her to assist and it was so great working with both of them, they are a great couple and gave us a good idea of how to pose for the photos. Out of all of the people we interviewed, Karman seemed the most enthusiastic and organized about photographing our wedding. It was clear from the beginning that she would dedicate a very high level of care and attention to making sure that we got beautiful photos in the style we were looking for. Karman really went above and beyond to make our photos look great. She made extra trips in advance to our ceremony and reception venues so that she could check out the lighting situation and scope out possible locations for great shots at each. She did a wonderful engagement shoot with my husband and I where she helped us to get comfortable with her style and with getting lots of pictures taken! I'm so happy we did that, because it made us so much more comfortable on our wedding day, and the pictures we got are really spectacular. At our wedding, Karman was all over the place hustling to get tons of fantastic shots of our guests, our venue, and of course us! We couldn't be happier with our photos. Karman and I met several times before the wedding to discuss what we wanted (specific photos, timeline for taking the photos, the "look and feel", etc) and she nailed every single one. Her and her assistant-- and it was so amazing to have a second shooter-- captured every important moment. Price was a big factor for us, too, as we paid for most of the wedding ourselves, and Karman's wedding package was significantly less than most of the photographers we contacted. She worked with us to make sure what we wanted worked with our budget, and she also spent a good amount of her own time meeting with us before the wedding, doing a walk through at our venue, and arriving earlier than scheduled the day of the wedding. I can't recommend Karman highly enough. So many of our friends weren't happier with their photographers. If you want a fantastic photographer at an affordable price Karman is it!
