She not only ordered labs and requested a physical but she called the Doctors and scheduled them for me right there in the office. I was able to be open regarding my past addictions and current struggles. She was not judgemental at all and that I liked the most. Her office is comfortable as well. One. Today was the last time I will meet with her. I asked if she would write a referral letter for gender affirming surgery as my insurance provider requires letters from two mental health professionals. Genesis Psychiatric Group's services include "coordination with your primary care physician and referral to community based services as appropriate." In our conversation, I assured her that I have a gender dysphoria diagnosis and am seeking this care because it is directly related to my wellbeing. I read through the referral letter expectations, which specifically ask for a mental health professional who has an evaluative role. McKenzie refused, asserting that she "doesn't do things like that" and "doesn't know anything about surgeries." I am crushed and deeply regret putting my trust, time and money toward someone so horrifically unprofessional, transphobic, and soulless.

I know what a broken bone feels like so I went to get a second opinion and turns out it was broken so bad it needed surgery to fix it.
