Good News looks like every other newsagent from the outside but step inside this tiny little shop…read moreand you'll see that the choice of magazines is what keeps this little store a step ahead of the rest. Because Good News is situated in the heart of Soho, where all of London's hippest fashion houses, production companies and media firms are generally based, it needs to offer it's clients something different. Sure, you can get the usual paper, a juice and a bag of crisps but I've never seen so many magazines. If your looking for fashion, music, business or art, they have every single commercial, weird and underground paper and magazine you can imagine and even stock some industry mags as well like Music Week for example. Although I don't work in Soho anymore, if I pass this shop, I always stop by and pick up a magazine I know I can't get anywhere else...

No to mention they stock a fantastic selection of international magazines and newspapers that one would often have trouble finding (especially American publications)! Definitely warrants a 5 star rating.

Should satisfy any discerning smoker's every need. It's a tiny little place but has a big stock, and the owner is really friendly and helpful. Everything from Indonesian clove cigarettes to Gitanes to snuff to cigar- and pipe-related stuff I know next to nothing about can be had. And they sell handy flip-top portable ashtrays with their name on them, which is dead convenient if you can't find any of those "gum and butts" things, which you don't want to go near anyway, if you can possibly help it. Go try.

Yes, this is the age of the Internet and all media can be found on your phone…read more That said, I love newspapers. I love magazines. There's an art to headlines, to design. How photos are placed and which stories are chosen to meet your eye. Even ads help tell a story about the medium and you, the reader. These facts really pop when you can see a bunch of papers and magazines side by side. It is then when you can measure the soul of the news outlets. So here at Falstaffs you can browse scores of daily papers from all over the world, not to mention leading magazines. In an instant you can see how the world reacts to major stories. I can't read Russian or Arabic, for example, but you can decipher their coverage of similar stories based on placement and photo selection. But you don't always need to be so insightful. They'll also sell you The Sun which you can read at the pub across the street.

This is the second awesome newsagent I have ventured into in one week. Camden News you are indeed…read moreawesome, because you are clean, you have a fantastic array of office nik naks, such as post it notes, tape, paper clips and a decent array of writing pads. Secondly you have the usual snack items and juicy drinks to give us all the much needed afternoon sugar rush. I believe trying our luck at the lottery is an option here too. Yet all this pales to the exquisite selection of magazines you have on offer. I spent a good ten minutes gazing longing at the shiny covers wishing I could sit and read them all. Well done Camden News, you are the shizzle! P.s. This would be 5* review but they do not seem to have Oyster top up capabilities.

They carry American mags, including AP (which used to be my guilty pleasure), among many other international publications. 2. They carry Bassetts Fruit Salad chews, aka the best sweets in history. Capital newsagents are well set up and cover every aspect you'd expect from newsagent. They have an excellent array of daily press and monthly magazines, the fridge is stocked full of drinks, there's a massive amount of sweets, whilst in the back you'll find an impressive amount of stationary, cards and wrapping paper. The added extras are the ability to send money abroad via Western Union and you can do the lottery. Whoo hoo! I am impressed with Capital Newsagents. Rock on guys!

I love the Saturday edition of The Guardian and my weekend is not complete if I don't get hold of a copy. On several occasions now I've ended up rushing from supermarket to supermarket in Notting Hill (there's a Tesco, Waitrose and M&S all lined up the hill, another Tesco's next to Holland Park station) to find large stockpiles of The Times but not a single issue of The Guardian. No, I won't buy into Murdoch Press, is this a conspiracy? It's only desperation that drives me into supermarkets in the first place - gone are the days where you had a newsagent's at every corner, especially near the main tube stations ... shops that look like a newsagent's now only sell tourist tad and sweets. Except Embassy News - it really was worth walking up a little further towards Bayswater Road to finally come across Embassy News. Lovely man behind the counter who confirms that they don't pack up their newspapers to return to the distributors before midnight (most supermarkets remove all newspapers by 7pm, hence my panic). Not the most convenient location for me but this may well become a regular haunt as I keep remembering too late that there's something missing in my life.
