He dreaded going to school and some of the teachers were not pleasant at all. The main kindergarten teacher seem to care more than others. I've witness teachers treating the little ones..for example by grabbing their arms forcibly and pulling on them back to the classroom while the kid is crying and screaming for his mother. Truthfully, I think they had too many kids in one class per teacher and some of the teachers were not able to control the kids. You're dealing with kids 5 and under...they're going to be wild. If you can't tolerate the kids, don't be a teacher!

They do run a…read moretight ship and all children are expected to behave and complete their work, but the teachers are very patient and work with each child to meet their goals. The teachers have always kept us well informed of my son's progress both academically and behaviorally. They are also very good with military kids (I'm retired military). The class room sizes are kept small so each child gets that one on one help if needed. I love this school.

Here is why: I had to withdraw our daughter from Trinity Catholic, a few days before classes began for several reasons: (1) my daughter wanted to play volleyball. However, since there were not enough freshmen volleyball players, the coach canceled the freshmen volleyball team. This upset my daughter, and my wife. But I still wanted her to attend Trinity until the following other reasons transpired: (2) Trinity Catholic curriculum is designed for average to below average students. My daughter had an A+ in science & an A in Advance Algebra I in the 8th grade at a public school, but Trinity Catholic representatives wanted her to retake the same classes due to her not doing well on the placement tests. At first, we agreed, but only to find out that this placement test excuse was a smoke screen for the real issue: Trinity Catholic starts all Freshmen in the basic Physical Science course. There is no other option, and no other science course for the 9th grade. Furthermore, once we brought our issue to Administration, they placed our daughter in honors math (because they have more options in math), and wanted to leave our daughter in the basic science course (but not informing us that there is no other options for 9th graders in science, just explaining to us that her science placement test score was low. But you can change her math class but not her science class even though both placement scores were low?) (3) The public high school, the school that our daughter is now going to be attending, will be starting her off in all honors classes and allowing her to pursue another 4 year science program as well. Here is the kicker: my daughter will be pursuing honors physics in the 9th grade, while at Trinity Catholic, you have to be in the 12th grade (and pay more) for the same honors course (if you think that I am joking, look at their course catalog; its accessible via the website)! (4) the summer reading book, for incoming freshmen, is a comic book ('American Born Chinese' by Gene Luen Yang), designed for/or can be comprehended by most 6 & 7 graders (or advanced 5th graders). Once I brought this to the attention of Administration, they ignored me by only stating that we are working on changing our curriculum?!?! In the meantime, our daughter, who has a reading level of a high school senior & college freshmen (her scores keep fluctuating; it was at a senior in high school starting the 8th grade, then it was at a college freshmen at the end of 8th grade), has to endure a curriculum (and a book) designed for average or below average students? How will she be able to improve her reading and comprehension and vocabulary skills so that she can get a 1350 or above on the SAT or a 28-30+ on the ACT, reading a book or following a curriculum like this?

The sanctuary was so beautiful, including the stained glass windows. There were a lot of handicapped parking spaces available, and just a few steps to climb to get into the church. We needed a child care option on short notice and chose this school because of a recommendation from a friend, the Spanish classes and the affordable tuition and ended up being so thrilled with our choice that we drove him 40 minutes each way for his final year of preschool after we moved to Illinois. Our last year at the school was with Mrs. Stacy and she is by far the best teacher we could have ever imagined. Each morning she personally greets each of the children like they really matter, takes an interest in their interests, engages them, keeps a stable routine and is patient. Entering kindergarten, my son knows all of the letters and sounds, recognizes numbers, can count to 1000, can write all of the letters, writes his name, can read about 500 sight words, can sound out many words that he doesn't know from sight, knows Spanish color words and number words and so much more! We were not members of the church, but that did not change the way they treated our son in their care. I can't say enough great things about TGCA preschool!

The Catholic School joke in my day went something like this. How many _____ girls/boys does it take to tap a keg. For Nerinx: One, she's an empowered woman, the rest are all out T.P.ing. Yep. that sums up my high school experience. I loved every second I spent at Nerinx Hall. I loved being at an all girls school, I loved the teachers, I loved the atmosphere and I loved the array of options I had for classes. Although Nerinx is Catholic, they never pushed a Catholic agenda on us, and in fact, they challenged us to think through rhetoric. I think that may be how I ended up the way I am today. The teachers were (for the most part at least) amazing. I always felt like I could confide in them if I needed to, they were challenging but not to an unmanageable extent, and to this day, some remain the best teachers I have ever had. I loved the array of classes I had to choose from at Nerinx as well. There clearly was core stuff I had to take, but my senior year, I took an amazing class called Innocence and Evil in Literature, I took an entire religion class in Death and Suffering (it sounds morbid, but I swear it was a great class), I took Astronomy, I took Anthropology, I took bowling as a gym class. Nerinx really offers a ton of different courses for being a small private school. It's really very impressive. Also, they have a ton of different things to get involved in. They have nearly every sport (everything from Softball to Racketball to Lacrosse), dozens of clubs (Model UN, Yearbook, a literary magazine, school newspaper), there's great drama, great music (everything from choir to jazz band), and at least 3 service trips every spring break. Seriously, so much stuff to do it's impossible not to be involved. Nerinx is known for empowering women. I am not sure how much of this is serious, but the characters that come out of that school surely prove that they are doing something right. Minus one star because even in my day the tuition was heinous, it has only gone up, and seriously, they ask me to donate money (and have been since I was a freshman in college) at least twice a year. This is the first time I have been able to really understand some of the books in the Bible by attending Sunday School/Bible study. I love obtaining new perspective and wisdom. Sunday service is NOT to be missed. Pastor Mike always has a riveting message on the word, God's word. Messages and lessons that we are to spread to others, messages to help you go through life, messages to help you weather the storms of life, messages to encourage you and others. Pastor Mike consistently teaches us that we are to seek God 1st in EVERYTHING we do, no matter how big or small. We can do nothing on our own but with God we can do all things. This is a wonderful church if you are truly wishing to seek God's presence and learn the word of God (Bible). Pastor Mike and his wife, Katie are truly welcoming to ALL as well as so many others.
