Went out from my new apartment, the first morning waking up there. It was holiday and all supermarkets and bakeries were closed. Searched for vegan breakfast on yelp and discovered goodies, a friendly vegan biological espresso bar. Not only my breakfast was saved but I think I found my second home. Had a great soy cappuccino (why the hell order a cow's milk when the soy tastes just as good!?) and a delightful chocolate cranberry cake (also vegan). Since it was so nice and the wi fi signal was so good, I decided that the Skype job interview I had with London, I will do there. Goodies is absolutely perfect if you are looking for food that is both healthy and delicious! After eating so much meat and carbs in Berlin, I was on the hunt for something light and fresh and Goodies definitely satisfied my cravings. I ordered the hot lunch bowl which comes with quinoa, hummus, greens, beets, sweet potato, grape tomatoes, and a choice of egg or avocado. It was very filling and the combination of the different ingredients tasted so good. I also tried the acai bowl which was quite tasty as well. The roasted nut granola on top was super good. Although it was still yummy, these acai bowls definitely don't compare to the ones in California. I wish the consistency was thicker. But overall would recommend! read more

I have to say, one of my favorite things about Germany is their ability to consistently produce the most amazing rice pudding. Yes, I LOVE rice pudding! I love, love, love it. I don't care if its store bought or what....I'm gonna dig it. So when I spied the homemade rice pudding at Goodies (topped with fresh strawberry rhubarb, squeeeeeeal!) I, of course, resisted at first. I said to myself, "C'mon Colleen, be an adult. Drink a coffee, don't be weird. Stick to the food plan." Then I decided 'NO, I will not be an adult or drink a coffee or stick to the food plan, I will eat this rice pudding and I will love it." And, I did. It was heaven. I also enjoyed a little bit of the citrus/quinoa/broccoli dish (saved the rest for a salad at home) and a berry smoothie. The smoothie was a bit runny for me (but then again, I will not allow bananas in my smoothies) and lukewarm...but, it is what it is. We snagged a nice spot to sit outside in the sun. On a Sunday! The treats are fantastic, they have a nice cooler of pre-made items that are delicious, and will make fresh stuff in their little kitchen, too. They have a full range of coffee, juices, teas, etc. The staff is really friendly, they have free wifi, comfortable seating and an overall nice vibe. Goodies has internet and even some places to plug your computer in - that's why I first stopped into this place. But low and behold - they have some quite tasty brownies, cakes and cookies. Try the blaubeer scone with berries and orange peel - hearty and with a sweet glaze on top. Good place to grab a snack or treat. Atmosphere is friendly and they also speak English at the counter. There are vegetarian options that are decent - pastas and bagels with fresh ingredients. Better than most little cafes I've stopped into for coffee, but still lacking a full understanding of how to prepare a cappuccino. Still - not bad.. read more

I love Goodies. I love their bagels, I love the fact that they have so much vegetarian and even vegan food/sandwiches/bagels to choose from. I love their AMAZING Hot chocolate and Gingerbread Latte in the winter and their wide variety of cold, fresh drinks in the summer. The staff is always super nice and I think I've brought all of my visitors here ever since I moved to Berlin. One thing that is really important to me though, which is actually depriving them of one star, is the fact that the wifi is not always working as I would hope for. They have free wifi, but most of the times I've been there, it hasn't been working properly. So if you don't mind the unreliablie internet: Goodies is perfect, although it could get a bit noisy sometimes because it's always crowded. Not the coziest, but definitely one of the tastiest (their coffe creations are FAR better than Starbucks). If you wanna work/studymight not the best place in town. read more

AMAZING!!!!! I was so happy to find a vegan place. I can't find many where I live and it was delicious. I took a Chickpeas Massala salad and Energy Balls (one coconut and one chocolate). You can choose between wraps, bagel, salads and there are many different desserts as well. It is located with the store "Veganz" so it's a 100% Vegan place, no worries. A bit pricey but very delicious and the big serving sizes (at least for e.g. smoothies and rice pudding) offset the price somewhat. I tried a poppy seed bagel with vegan egg salad, their deep purple smoothie and some rice pudding with cherry sauce. All of it was simply fantastic. Plus, both times that I've been there, the service was incredibly courteous. The second time, I got there just minutes before they closed but they still served me patiently, as if it was any other time during the day. If I lived in Berlin, I'd probably visit here once a week or so. In Vienna, I'm not aware of any places like this that serve foods that seem to have a high fruit content instead of refined sugar and veggies instead of fatty crap. :( Also - don't miss the comfy couch in the rear. read more

Delicious range of vegan food. We tried their drinks, cakes, soups, wraps and bagels and none were a disappointment! Located in a cool neighbourhood on east side of Berlin in a conjunction with 3 other vegan shops!! Veganz supermarket, mia matto Italian restaurant and avesu (where I bought vegan dr Martins!!) awesome group of shops and definitely worth a visit. Just a sidenote: goodies has a smaller shop up the road that sells vegan products as well as ones containing dairy so be sure to double check before buying!! read more

The food is good, but too overpriced. And even though the workers are mostly very pleasant- they are all extremely slooooooow...... It sometimes takes over 15min just to get a coffee to go. Also there have been couple of times they just forgot my order... And the thing is- both goodies in Friedrichshain and their restaurant The Bowl have the same thing in common: smily, but extremely slow workers. I would still come back, because there are not many vegan places, but just on days when I am not in a hurry. read more

all all organic event in Friedrichshain, at reasonable prizes and with free W-Lan! there are tables outside, but I prefer the inner lounge area at the back. There is even a child friendly corner, and dogs are also allowed. A wide selection of bagels with delightful fillings (curry chicken, dried tomatoes, turkey with lettuce), sandwiches and müsli and JOghurt. They also make delicious smoothies and prepare good cofee -their chai is prepared out of powedered mixes, though! AROMA also gives you a mileage card, after 10 coffees the 11th is free. Not that one would go there solely for the card, but if you are going to have coffee anyway, why not? Definitely worth a visit -newspapers and magazines are also available for Cafe visitors. read more

It's located right on Warschauer, so you can take the m10, m13, U5 or walk from the u/sbahns. It's reminiscent of coffee cafes for me back in the states. They have crazy concoctions for smoothies/coffees and more. Also the option for sandwiches and more is wonderful. You really get the feel for a coffee shop where people are in and out/ or lingering for long conversations about the The Third Reicht . . . A small cool cafe with a good range of organic food and drinks and a nice atmosphere. It's the only decent option in the area (Warschauerstr.), and therefore is always packed. The food, being organic, is quite expensive by Berlin standards and the portions are quite small. I would therefore recommend it for drinks and cakes. Go somewhere else for lunch. read more
