I tried to donate a ceiling fan, 2 lamps, and a chandelier to be a good person. What a nice store! And boy was it huge! I don't think I've seen a Goodwill this big. It had such a huge selection. I think I only saw about maybe 15 minutes of it and I was already needing a carb just to keep going lol. The customer service here was really great. The employees are great, my problem is with their ridiculous prices on some things. They don't authenticate any of the handbags but price them on the very high end as if they were real. I know my coach bags and I was in there today and they have a small coach bag with tags on it that us 100% FAKE. Coach always have the creed patch inside every handbag, the stitching is perfect, and has high quality materials. This one had terrible stitching and the strap was peeling but it had a coach price tag(also fake). I would be irate if I paid $100 for a fake bag and its illegal to sell counterfeit bags but they simply don't care cuz i told them several times they had a fake bag but they continue to sell them. Just want everyone to be aware so you don't lose your money cuz they won't give you a refund. Do better Goodwill. read more

Since this Goodwill got a new manager prices are sky high & employees are extremely unhappy. Also when you go to the register with items like my husband did with tags attach the manager says oh I'm sorry these are supposed to be more money and takes them away from you. I will not go to that Goodwill anymore until they make Carlos the manager or remove the existing manager!! read more

Went to the Goodwill at North DeLand this afternoon. I used to shop here very often, but now I find that I can almost find things in retail stores brand new for the prices they are charging at this Goodwill store. I found a stereo system that had a record player, CD player and an am/FM. It was priced at $44.99 I spoke to the clerk named Michael and told him that and had a record player in a cassette player and I would have to find a place that that's sold cassettes and records to test the system out of their normal 48 hours could not be a time for me to check it out. He supposedly checked with a manager that came back and told me that if I wanted it. They would give me 7 days to check it out and then if something went wrong then they would give me a store I did not have the availability of funds at the time. I told him I had to go to the bank. I returned within the hour to get the system took it to the cashier and evidently there must have been a shift change or something in the managers. Now I would only be given 48 hours to return the system. I walked away leaving the system moment account. Why would I pay $45 for something that I can only get a 48-hour warranty, when I could double the price and get a new unit with a one year warranty by ordering a new one on Amazon!. I remember the days when Goodwill used to mean Fair bargains. It's just a retail store selling used items. I won't be back unless things change. I guess you have to pay for the new building somehow, but for me being a senior citizen living on a fixed income it's not going to be by me. read more

Way too expensive , prices different for similar items at different times ; dollar tree items marked almost double; items with price tags almost marked for the same price one more; it seems some people just don't know how to price the item . A lot of items of five dollar and maybe only worth half of that. read more

This place has turned to garbage ever since they implemented their "Tested" status for electronics. The price them at eBay selling prices without the option of return and the "Tested" items NEVER work. I'm 2 for 2 when buying electronics. I will never go to this store again. Port Orange and Orange City are WAY better and will have all of my business going forward. read more

Goodwill - an intangible, salable asset arising from the reputation of a business and its relations with its customers, distinct from the value of its stock and other tangible assets - sound familiar? I love the concept of neighbors helping neighbors but I'm less enthused when it's only a superficial appearance or illusion of something: I donate to Goodwill because it feels good although I know the impact could be so much more - I know the 'not for profit vision' was what started it all but these new multiple million dollar facilities and top executive payrolls far exceed the original intent, the purpose, the reasons why, the good will to mankind - its all subjective. The communities served profit in some ways - jobs are created and that's the true focus these days, this business should never be confused with or compared to a thrift store, even though the merchandise that stocks the shelves and racks are donated, the retail prices rival those of "for profit" businesses in many cases. I come here to give and it's not for me to judge how it's distributed I guess - I only hope it benefits those less fortunate, and yes repurposing reduces the impact on the landfills or at least delays the inevitable. This is one giant beautiful store - the drive-thru option is well staffed, friendly and efficient and I get a receipt so Uncle Sam can pay me for doing good uhm... that just doesn't seem right but I'm not arguing since it's a somewhat transparent process... read more

This Goodwill in Deland wreaks!!! I was in line to drop off donation. The car in front of me waiting to load a Christmas tree into her car!!! She was there for at least 20 min, not paying any kind to the 5 other cars behind her waiting to DROP-OFF donations! She then suddenly walks off to go to front of store l, leaving her car in drop off line!!!! She's gone for another 20 min!!!!! None of the workers gave a damn about the long line or to even find out where the hell this woman was at!!!! Not an apology or anything to anyone waiting!!!! The manager should do better!! How about any loading that needs to be done, be done in front of the store??? NOT IN THE ONLY ONE DROP-OFF DONATION LINE??!!!!! The rude woman finally got her help to load that tree in her car, but while in the process, all the cars behind her, including myself had to back out of the ONE LANE, TO LEAVE!!!!! As someone from out of town we went to the Goodwill Store. Upon selecting some clothing and other items we asked for the dressing room to try on some items and were told there were none. I thought it was just a joke. No, serious it was, It seems theft was rampant so they took them out. In the many, many GoodWill stores I shop each week I jested that this was the only one. Only I was then told that NONE of the GW stores had dressing rooms. I started naming off the cities in Florida that has GW stores with dressings room. I was told I was a jerk. Topper - you cannot take the shopping cart out to the parking lot. You either leave your items and drive the car up or carry all out. The carts lock. I enjoy hitting up thrift shops and goodwill when I'm in the mood to find a new-to-me item that I can fix up or use. I also believe helping out these establishments helps others, but recently the Pricing at this store has started to keep me away. Coffee mugs for 8 bucks? Used candles for 9? I have bought almost everything I own from either small brands or from Goodwill, a pattern which will now be changing. Beyond rare to find something decently priced here and frankly at ANY Goodwill, considering items are donated (no cost to the business) and stored as inventory until decided to be put out on the floor. For an untagged, randomly branded sequin top, I was asked to pay $29.99.... Seriously? I would rather truss my local shoppes and truly find gold than continue to give my cash to this money-hungry corporation. They are pricing items like they are new or they are a specialty store. People don't go to thrift stores to buy things at full price or prices higher than other stores. We now donate our stuff to virtually any of the other thrift stores in the area. read more

This Goodwill has a huge selection of clothes and shoes. This store also has quite a few new items; currently, these new items include underwear, socks, and seasonal items. I like the checkout system which feeds multiple registers from one line. Thus, one line isn't slower due to a slower cashier or a customer with many items. At the back of the store are the dishes, glassware, small appliances, and miscellaneous items. There were several aisles of dishes, knock-knacks, frames, glasses, dishes, baskets, seasonals, and miscellaneous items. The glassware, frames, and dishes were organized. The other items were very disorganized with items being stacked upon one another and entangled. I hated to touch anything lest something slide and break. I picked up a cute dog bowl and to my disgust found it wasn't cleaned. Ugh! read more

This store has moved just up the street on the left near Walmart. Nice new building and job center. Lots and lots of stuff. So plan on being here for at least an hour if not more. Tip: get their right at 9 when they open as they are putting out new stuff. read more

They removed all the dressing rooms so they could jam pack it full of clothing you can't even try on. When I asked why they removed them, they blamed the homeless. I was told the return policy is 3 days and no refund, just store credit. Terrible idea and will drive away loyal customers who aren't going to drive back across town to return a $5 pair of shorts. I am really disappointed with my recent experience at this Goodwill. I bought four wooden TV stands that were packaged with a carrier.They were HEAVY! It took all of my effort to get them to the front of the store. I asked if I could leave them up front while I completed my shopping.They said no - they needed to be purchased now. No big deal. I asked if I could take the tag and get in line, as they were so heavy and it really took everything out of me to get them there. The manager said no, and I had to carry them through a long line. As a person with a disability, I am really disappointed in a company that is supposed to be helping those who are disabled. read more

This review is for the new location. Same Goodwill, they just built a new store. They did not build this Goodwill large enough. You can only fit one person/cart in between each row and it makes shopping very stressful. There are only 3 dressing rooms to try clothes on. The organization is done by type, size and then by color. This gets confusing and repetitive. I'd rather just have one section of black pants to look through and then have the sizes by smallest to largest. Instead I had to go to 2 different racks to look through black pants, and about 4 different places for black shirts. Not every "size" is the same. The people checking us out were nice but robotic. All in all, you are better going over to Orange City. Larger selection, more room to shop. read more

This is real nice Goodwill located in DeLand. It's pretty organized in terms of its selection of items. I have found quite a bit of old video games during my visit on 1/18/2015... you never know what you're gonna find in Goodwill. Prices are decent. Now, video games are typically priced at $3.99 each if they're not under a glass case, but old VHS tapes--that's a different story. Unfortunately when I went, the registering computers were down and I had to wait in a line. Sort of a time vampire. On another note, this Goodwill was literally jam-PACKED with VHS tapes, especially Disney films, and one I saw was the original 1992 VHS release of "101 Dalmatians" priced at just 59 cents... great deal! ;) If you're a collector of anything, whether it's old video games, VHS tapes, even old records and music CDs, I would hit this Goodwill if you are in the area. Don't rely on them to be open or honoring the hours posted on their website or front door. Made a special trip for medical supplies July 5th as Sunday's hours are posted as being open til 8 pm. Got there a little after 6 and the store was full of employees with the doors locked. After much knocking, finally one employee came and said they had decided to close at 6 pm with no explanation. She would not acknowledge whether the posted hours would be honored in the future or not. Suggest anyone interested in going to this store to call ahead to make sure they haven't randomly shut down. read more

Been shopping at this Goodwill for more than 6 years, and have loved it. All of a sudden a few months ago, prices SKYROCKETED. I mean INTO ORBIT. I did some investigating. This store is under a new manager who has decreed that the prices at this store will be RETAIL LEVEL. It doesn't matter whether you're a reseller who sources there, or a financially-challenged person trying to buy some used clothes and pre-owned housewares to furnish your apartment ... NOBODY CAN AFFORD TO SHOP HERE ANYMORE. It's really sad, as this place used to be such a great asset to our community. Please understand that Goodwill is NOT a non-profit organization. They are in the business of making as much money as possible. And it's not like we have a huge selection of thrift stores to shop at here in Deland. The manager at this store is well aware of that ... people are basically forced to pay the new unGodly prices. Here's an example: two pink depression glass saucers, bundled together with no cups: $19.99. A stack of 5 depression glass bread plates, two with chips: $49.99. A pair of Waterford crystal wine glasses: $99.99. I could go on and on. The bottom line is, the only way to put a stop to this is to STOP SHOPPING AT THIS GOODWILL if you possibly can, and DEFINITELY STOP DONATING YOUR ITEMS THERE. Better to donate to Our Father's Closet or Angels on Your Pillow, both of which continue to have very reasonable prices and do a lot of charity work in our community. But it's going to take ALL OF US IN DELAND to bring some sanity back to the prices at our Goodwill store. Tell your friends. Tell your neighbors. STOP SHOPPING AND DONATING AT GOODWILL IN DELAND. I went to shop at the store and because of Covid19 customers were not allowed to try on items. At check out I was told I'd have 10 days to return any items that didn't fit/ I didn't want. I was back in 30 min with 2 items to return. I was then told I could only swap items but couldn't have refund. Given how cumbersome the whole process is I just left out of frustration. I can say I'm a vintage and thrift store junkie. I love finding thing's that have the meaning of time. I was in Deland and decided to visit there thrift store. It is a brand new building and it's very big. I was excited to see they had allot of different thing's. Until I started ti look at the price tags!! Ugh, for a place that gets all there stuff donated for free. Way to much money. There a non profit and are surrpose to help keep thing's affordable for the average family. Yikes they up scale the prices way too high. It's a nice concept to think they get donations to help other's and get them at no cost, but the idea is to keep costs affordable. And then get the money pay there Bill's and keep going to help the community, not to pay people low, while the ceo makes 6 figures. I would never call it a. Thrifty place. It's not much price difference to a regular store. I've been in all kinds of thrift store's but avoid this one, they should drop the name thrift, it's just like a walmart. This locations clothing is organized fairly well. They have a small rack in the front of the store that has all different items, not exactly sure if it is the designer rack or new items. Overall the clothing is not too packed on the racks. You are able to browse a little and usually not many people with carts are blocking the isles at this location. The back of the store where household items and miscellaneous is pretty much scattered everywhere but its not usually laying all over the floor. I decided to write a review due to the fact that each time I have been to this location the staff at checkout is horrible. Checking out always takes a LONG time. The staff argue between each other about what they will and wont do while customers are waiting to check out. There is usually others working the floor but the two women I have seen working the checkout counter are not friendly or helpful. I think this store would be great with more training for the staff. read more

Good selection of clothes and other items and some people are super helpful but there was one woman who was very rude to my grandmother when she asked what the discounted color of the day was. The lady appeared as if she was ignoring my grandmother and after she said "excuse me" for the 5th time the lady whipped around and basically shouted at her to "hold on and wait a minute she has a job to do" Besides that it's a very nice and clean store and they have air conditioning :) read more

Great prices,however do not buy electronics. The store does not test items- too much effort to plug in i guess. I bought a Home Accent 8 function radio,tv, light, etc for the approaching hurricane. There was no plug in the box so i ordered one on Ebay. The cashier never told me there was a 7 day return/ exchange policy. Just so happened when the plug arrived from Ebay i tried the item. Nothing worked- lights, radio,tv, nothing. I brought the item back to Goodwill in Deland, Florida and was told that it was i day beyond the 7 days., I spoke to an elderly woman manager and she must absolutely hate her job. She was rude so i asked to speak to a higher up, since i only wanted to exchange the item for the money i already spent. I spoke with another manager at the store- Jennifer L-and she wouldn't even listen. Not only that but she told me to be respectful to the other employees- I was never disrespectful. I told Jennifer L that the cashiers should let customers know when they buy electronics that they are not tested and there is only a 7 day return/exchange policy. I am on disability and have limited resources and only wanted to exchange the item. I called corporate in Orlando Florida and left a message with another manager - with problem and my phone number and no return call. IF I WANTED JUNK I WOULD DIG THROUGH TRASH LET ALONE PAY FOR JUNK. DO NOT BUY ELECTRONICS AT THIS STORE OR ATTEMPT TO DEAL WITH MANAGERS- THEY MUST BE TRAINED TO NEVER BE POLITE OR WORK WITH CUSTOMERS- THANKS OLD LADY MANAGER AND JENNIFER.L- for absolutely nothing.
