The one Goodwill Thrift Store we went to in North Carolina (during our Carolinas trip), this location in Calabash reminded me of what Goodwills used to be: not individually priced but instead priced by type, allowing to shoppers to find real bargains. This is what my wife did during our long stay, resulting in having to use one of our spare collapsible check-in bags to house the $68 of purchased product. Like the other Goodwills that we went to, the store is mostly clothes (very little furniture, videos, books). But the clothes that were sold, were in good condition and very well sorted. None of the clothing items were individually priced, instead needing a pricing guide (e.g. Women's blouses are all $4.19, Men's jeans $4.19). There were a TON of blue jeans available, along with a lot of women's blouses. One interesting thing to observe was that shopping carts (aka buggies) were in hot demand...there just wasn't enough. Very clean and organized but honestly the worst goodwill for "finds", I have never been able to purchase anything. It's mostly clothing. However If you're looking for older women clothing this is your spot. But as far as housewares and trinkets this isn't for you! read more

The female clerk really needs an attitude adjustment, They do not post the cost of items. And when you ask, you get a real bad attitude with a sheet thrown at you. I was also overcharged. I only purchased 5 items and some 'Bins' charge for 6.99 was added to my bill. I only purchased hanging dresses and one blouse NOT FROM A BIN. But it is the last step that really pisses you off and that is when they ask for more money at the end with rounding it to the next dollar. WHAT A SCAM And not having shopping carts is insane, for you have to lug all your items the entire time you are shopping, I get saving money for clearly they are doing that by not offering bags at checkout. I would suggest the staff read the book How To Win Friends And Influence People. That would be a good start. read more

The employees at this store are the most inconcerate people on earth. You try to bring things to donate and they complain..there are typewritter signs of do not, do not, do not, ex do not set on chair. Well if you want to but you have to set..if you want to buy an item on a rack that they have just brought out, they yell from 40 feet away ...DON'T TOUCH that while visiting ocean isle beach for onky 5 days this happened every day at th Calabash store.Watched other customers leave because of employees conduct, this store us run like a boot camp...don't go read more

This store is clean, organized, well maintained and the clothing appears to be gently worn. Great finds all around. All staff is knowledgeable and attentive except Kelly... on a few occasions shopping, I would catch an ear full from across the store of the manager bullying her coworkers with a callus attitude. However, she is very kind to her older customers enough to spend thirty minutes through out the store chatting about her own drama, while her team mate is busy with 7 customers and maintaining racks!! She then assumed I was trying to steal a few earrings, which made me feel very uncomfortable. Her attitude is unacceptable and she should look into taking a leadership class. Music is needed in this store, to drain out Kelly's negative banter. Please bring this to her attention, I would never want to work for a company with poor leadership! read more

Very helpful staff. We were donating a lot of great household stuff from my parents estate. We appreciated their kindness.

I like to go thru Goodwills and thrifts and can find some great things. But this one, not so much. People working there are not overly friendly and its very picked over all of the time. Recently we dropped off a car full of items. No one offered to help (seniors, one with a cane) and they refused to let us use the cart to put it all in. ( like two old folks are going to make off with a huge cart) I had more things but tossed them in our trash as It seemed that donations were not wanted and Im not going by another anytime soon. read more

Not a good experience. The cashier Sandra was rude. Shopping carts are no where in sight. My friend asked if they had any and Sandra rudely said to knock on the employees door and ask for one. Then I could not find a price on a log holder. I took it to Sandra and asked for a price. She rudely told me it was on there somewhere. She was checking someone out at the register and I told her I would come back up in a minute when she had time to help me find the price. I came back about 10 minutes later, asked her where the log holder was and she told me a guy bought it. What?! Was she serious???? I told her I was waiting on her to get the price for me. I shop and support Goodwill Nation wide. This is a new store. Prices are so high, I used a shopping wagon. As you would to shop and purchase items.Only To be insulted by two staff members that the wagon that uses baskets,which was in a corner abandoned are for handicap only. They have six and need a special request to use. Nothing posted on these wagons stating this. Nor is this posted anywhere in the store,and how do they know I am not disabled. You humiliated me. By takening back a wagon, this store was Full of people.whiteout a procedure in Place I was verbally assaulted.I am insulted and both staff people need to be removed and or trained on disability's act. Your a law suit waiting to happen. I had ask the one MANAGER to apologize to me and she refused. Please don't donate to make these owners of Goodwill richer, please don't support these ignorant business practices, this is not an organization I will support. Do you homework and support local thrift stores. Local charities where your money doesn't go in these self centered people's pockets. Enjoy your day thrift shoppers! Very clean and organized. I realize its a new store, only a few months old, but I believe it will stay that way. The workers are all very friendly and they stay busy keeping things organized. No clothing falling off hangers and laying on the floor. My only complaint is they need music of some sort. Too quiet. Someone needs to tell upper management that most women shoppers like music to shop by! read more

Very neat and clean. No fun 60s music like the Goodwill Little River Store, which is owned by the South Carolina Franchise. And no bathrooms for customers. And not much A/C. And no shopping carts! Seriously? And if you have an armload but still want to continue to shop, they will refuse to let you put your soon-to-be-purchased items on an unused counter. You "have to buy them, and then take them outside to your car, then come back in" (exact quote from employee, who apologized nicely for managment's rules). This is new and organized well. The problem with the store is there employees. I have never been treated so badly by anyone.This person does not need a job working with the public. I will never go back into this store again. read more
