Not sure why this place isn't getting a little bit more love. The Goodwill in a college town is the perpetual go to for quality finds! I wandered in looking for some white elephant gifts, and found exactly what I needed, under the $10 limit! A Mickey Mouse candy dispenser, a Nutcracker mug, and a set of three Christmas themed soft cheese spreaders were exactly what I didn't know I needed! Seriously, though, this place is solid. It's not overly large, and I was actually very surprised at how nicely kept the place was. I'm more used to these stores looking like a contained yard sale than anything else. The aisles were clean, the shelves weren't overloaded, and everybody was very friendly. They had an impressive array of Christmas themed items, and based on the sheer volume of things that they had, I would suspect that it's rather impressive at other times of the year too. There's always a cabinet with the breakable and a little bit nicer stuff as well. That's located up at the front of the store for anyone looking! All in all, this place is solid. They had more new stuff than I was expecting, and wow there wasn't an over abundance of goods within the store, I found exactly what I needed and suspect you would too. read more

Horrifically overpriced! They sell used dollar tree items for more than the dollar tree! Outrageous prices on old used items. Often it's cheaper to buy it new. They have become very greedy. Disgusting actually, and they have the audacity to ask if you'd like to donate to jobs training programs that most of the money goes to profit! Despicable! Go to habitat for humanity instead! Your employees are very rude SPECIFICALLY THE CASHIER NAMED LEE and the store goes against goodwill's corporate mission. Lee accused me and my friends of stealing and was really rude about it. My friend asked if she could have a little discount on a shirt that was ripped and Lee straight up said "No. This is a goodwill"... yeah girl exactly its a goodwill people negotiate here lmfao.. not sure why you need to ride poor people at a thrift store PLEASE GET A LIFE I AM BEGGING YOU GIRL. Lee has been rude every time I've interacted with them and the same goes with all of my friends, they are college aged but bootlicking like their life depends on it. I used to go hard for this goodwill saying "you can find something good if you look hard and they have student discounts on sunday" but now I really don't have anything good to say about the ellensburg goodwill, this is why everyone thinks this thrift store sucks girl do better! Everyone in town agrees the selection of clothes is ugly, i know there are some good things for okay prices hidden but that's not really good enough. I judge thrift stores mostly on their pricing compared to other thrift stores in the area and their service/cleanliness, all things they have some control over. They don't really control their inventory much as it depends on what people donate. Pros: Good prices on electronics. Pricing on furniture was bipolar - $20 for a perfectly good couch but $100 for a really beat up, smaller wooden cabinet (the description called it "vintage" :-]) Store is pretty clean and service was very good - a friendly checker which can be pretty rare at thrift stores. Cons: Pricing on clothing is on the high side - men's shorts for $8 - $11 when I can get a new pair at WMart for $15. And apparently Goodwill has decided that this nostalgia thing for used records is something they are going to cash in on. Prices here and at Goodwills throughout Western Washington as well went from 99 cents straight to $3.99. That's right - a 300% increase overnight. And it isn't on selected records that are more popular or in really good shape, no its for all records. Records now cost more than CDs which remain at $2.99 - for now. If they see a comeback maybe they will also go up 300%. Who knows. read more

This store is slightly different from most Goodwill stores. It contains a lot of new merchandise mixed in with the donated items. It is located next door to Fred Meyers. The prices were higher than I am used to seeing in Goodwill stores. All items were extremely clean and well displayed. read more

Horrid. I was checking out with Jacob, he left me in the middle of a transaction at the register to answer a phone, then to answer a customer question, then to go back into the back of the store and unlock something for someone. When he returned, I said that I would have preferred to have finished my transaction with my card in the machine before he left. He told me that he could see that I had an attitude and that I could just leave. I asked for a manger. While waiting for the manager, another employee asked me what happened and when I was telling her, he literally yelled over to us, while waiting on another customer, "she's being a bitch". The manager did listen to our complaints and said she would talk to him. He just returned to the register after and startEd working again. If I had an employee who talked to a customer like that, I would have sent him home immediately and then fired him. read more

I didn't notice as much new merchandise as what Jan wrote. Unlike the Yakima-Tieton location, which was definitely full of new merchandise and less second-hand/donated, this store seemed similar to what the Tieton Dr location USED to be. Impressive selection of books, clothing, electronics, housewares and movies, both VHS and DVD. It's not the biggest thrift store ever, but for Kittitas County, it's a good place to stop after running errands at Fred Meyer next door. read more
