I had just taken an art class making shapes out of old junk, and this place definitely had a good selection for something like that.

What I didn't expect was a top-notch consignment store, but The Fashion Plate is just that! The interior is quirky as the store is in a historic colonial home, but that made the shopping experience all the more unique and fun. The prices are very reasonable and there is a wide-range from designer to accessible, every day pieces. There are also clothes and accessories for men, children, pets, and the home. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but they also gave me the space to browse without feeling pressured to buy, which for me is a major plus. I spent about 45 minutes browsing and trying on items so I would suggest giving yourself time to really explore the entire store--as one reviewer noted there is a lot to see (but I did not think this was an issue--more treasures to find!). My haul from the Fashion Plate included a vintage Chanel necklace, Chanel cashmere gloves (odd buy in July but winter is coming--haha), Lanvin ballet flats, deadstock Gucci blooms purse, Chanel wedges (I ended up wearing these to the wedding), a Henri Bendel backpack, a cool painting, and a pair of Chanel cambon ballet flats. They only stock authentic items (they explained their rigorous authentication process) and I appreciate that commitment to not selling replica goods. There was so much more to tempt me! I will certainly be back to shop this fun boutique.

Cash only folks)... turns out going to Wilmington for syrup is a lot like going to Target for toothpaste. Who knew such a fashion mecca could exist on the outskirts of a forest? Seriously, the owner's buying game is on point. I think I walked into the dressing room with at least 40 items. None of which would be useful for a weekend of camping. But all of which were great brands, new or basically new, ridiculously cute and so reasonably priced. But don't worry. I also got my syrup. Let's hope I don't spill it on all my new fashion finds.

My favorite kind of antique store, where there are a variety of things from mostly the mid-19th to…read moremid-20th century, just happily being old at reasonable prices. It's big (two floors open, hints that sometimes there's a third floor). It's arranged so that a person can browse comfortably -- aisles are logical and not too tight. Not super-precious, but not junk. Not heavily mid-century modern, not heavily country. One of the downstairs vendors looks to be buying dollhouse miniatures at estate sales, so if that's your thing, the prices aren't cheap but the selection is interesting.

When I walked away from the counter, my wife overheard the shop owner and a customer laughing at us, saying that they could list them on eBay for $60 apiece. We resisted the urge to walk back and inform them that we were still in the store and can hear your insulting comments. Horrible experience, just keep driving past it!

The workers are always nice here. It's a really big space and is organized. They do try to…read moreseparate different types of clothes - like pants from shorts etc. It's usually semi messy with clothes falling on the floor off of the racks. Some other stores have clothes jammed in tight on each rack - but not here. It's full but not jammed full. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. The stuff is really hit or miss. Sometimes you find great items and other times it seems to be lots of clothes that are torn or stained. Kinda just how thrifting seems to be.

I have for years donated items and money, but no more. For a charitable organization, they are too fussy as to what items they take. The brand-new toaster (gift) and brand new duffle bag could have easily been sold at the thrift store and brought money into the origanization and the money put to good use. Why go to a dozen state sales when you can come here and save the gas. There were a few leather sofas, many dining room sets, countless recliners and seating chairs, and chests and bookcases. Another side of the store features clothing, while a separate section has small appliances. Quality varies, from almost new to fairly worn. Priced accordingly. Perfect place for a new college graduate to set up household without spending a ton of money, or folks who don't need to spend a lot of money in a sofa that will likely become the cat's scratching post when they bring it home. They have a great assortment of home goods and I scored some vintage CUTCO cutlery at excellent prices. They also have cool vintage clothes and just the typical antique store randomness. The stand out here is their amazing staff. I got to the location just a little before opening and they still greeted me and let me come in a bit early. Also one man, I believe maybe the owner, was super nice chatting with me about local history and recommended additional resources to explore the history of North Adams at the local library and historical association.
