I wasn't even planning to…read moreleave a review, but after attempting twice to sell clothes and being told both times they were "at full capacity," I've completely lost interest in ever coming back. The first time was around 4 PM, and the second was before 2 PM. Even after being told to come at 10 AM instead, I have no desire to make a third trip just to get lowballed and have them mark them up in a mysterious price. If you've ever tried selling to Plato's Closet before, you already know this is the infamous reality. They have one of the worst business models I've experienced for a resale store, and it's frustrating that nearly every location seems to provide the exact same disappointing experience. The employees often come across as snobby, like they work on commission at a luxury department store and see themselves as fashion authorities. Mind you, I brought in genuinely good pieces that people in Fayetteville would absolutely buy. I had Coach bags, Marc Jacobs, Anthropologie, Lululemon, and more. So for them to advertise that they buy clothes all day, only for the rules and capacity to keep change depending on the day or time, is ridiculous. They lost out, not me. If I could leave 0 stars for every Plato's Closet location, I would. Nothing would convince me to return. I only decided to swallow my pride this time because I'm in town trying to sell my remaining clothes before donating them. I don't have personal ill will toward the employees themselves, but honestly, they deserve better than working under such a poorly run system. Seeing the "This Store Is For Sale" sign out front was honestly the cherry on top. No one should consider investing in this company unless they genuinely plan to change its practices and policies, because the current system clearly does not work.

I was…read moreactually planning to head to Office Depot already for Thank You cards when I conveniently found them here - an instant win for thrift and zero-wasters! Generally speaking it's hard to get a low rating from me if you're any kind of store that deals in selling used items. That includes all of the many other chains and places that I won't bother to enumerate. Salvation Army is a LITTLE over the top for me because they're strongly religious. But I don't care much. They're making jobs and moving the economy, the way I see it. Plus they're turning what would otherwise be trash into treasure for some folks. This location is no exception and follows the SA standards of every other one I've been to. A good half of the store sells furniture arranged neatly in full room sets. Living room, bedroom, dining room, etc. They even sell several used TVs and appliances as long as they can keep a supply of them on hand. Lots of housewares all neatly organized by color in the usual SA way. It's an unusual way to do it and makes finding things a bit harder but all the more rewarding. Most of the rest of the store is dedicated to clothes. Men's, women's and children's. Shoes, hats, bags, sports equipment and even bikes sometimes. Prices are typically not too bad for used things, especially if you find something that's practically still new. I might have to check back in here from time to time!

It is a real step up from the Goodwill stores but not nearly as big as it's sister store on Independence Boulevard. Both play relaxing, inspirational music. I like the fact that Wednesdays are half off all clothing, every week they have differing tag color specials, and the fact that they only charge $0.49 for DVDs and CDs. All the clothes are in good to excellent condition, with no stains or holes. It appears that they go to great lengths to ensure that is the case. More than anything though, I love the fact that they give so much back to the community. It make spending money here that much easier!

This used to be the best thrift store in Cabarrus County. Yes, used to be. It has gone downhill…read moreever since they reopened after C*vid. That's part of the problem too - all new staff due to firing the old staff during C*vid times...ones who had been there for years & were so sweet. The new manager is a guy who frequently complains openly about people shopping in the store, has literally complained about having to check my cart of stuff because I "got too much" and it'd take a while to scan it all in (I had maybe 6 books, a couple of shoes and some small nicknacks - it wasn't a lot). He's also changed sale hours - day of - closing early because he felt like it. He does not make people feel welcome to shop there - it's like we're bothering him to be in the store. Also, the pricing has gotten really bad - it's frequently at or above retail now, which is so sad since this stuff is always clearly used and *given/donated* to the store, but they grossly overprice it. Case in point: A used coffee grinder for $24.99 when it's new for $18.95 on Amazon or $19.98 at Walmart. The clothes have been really stained, hole-filled, torn and ripped lately. I really hate how bad the store is these days... I went in recently and they were selling a side table that was missing two legs, but still had it priced at $39.99. It just makes me so sad since this used to be my favorite thrift store in the area, and it's awful now.
