This is my second favorite Goodwill in the Madison area! The staff were awesome- both friendly and helpful, restocking the shelves with new reassures and tidying up the areas that are more prone to disorder, like the toy area. I picked up a few beautiful hand-knit blankets, a sturdy framed mirror and a piece of art- a fantastic etching. Plenty of parking, clean restroom, loads of functioning carts, and no wait to check out. I'll be back! read more

Not entirely sure what's been going on with this store over the last year or so but the shelves seem to be always half way empty. It never used to be that way. I was very disappointed the last time I was there and am now seeking out other locations as this one is greatly "picked over" or really low on merchandise. Not sure which it is. Used to be a really good store. Not so much any more. read more

I was a longtime customer. I used to shop this store 3 or 4 times a week. I have bought tons of stuff from them. Plus, I have recently donated 2 truck loads to them Today, I asked if they could take less on 1 item. Never asked, and the woman manager said no. It was a vending machine, no keys for it. Can't even open it without keys. $34.99 She wouldn't budge on the price. I have donated tons and tons of stuff. I mean tons like truck loads. All stuff they get free. So I'm done with Goodwill. All future donations will be going to St Vincent's. read more

I am disappointed with the fact they sell lamps that do not work. The lamp that I bought for 5.99 has a major short within the chord somewhere. It makes me wonder what their protocol is for testing anything that comes in if there's even one at all. While I understand that not all companies operate with integrity, I expected better from Goodwill. Especially with their mission statement mentioning ethics and "striving to meet highest ethical standards". They dropped the ball ethically, in my opinion, lack of Quality and experience. They have a really great board game, video, and book section at this location . As far as clothes there are not too many good finds.

We didn't do any shopping this time, it was the easy for dropping off and donating items. It if there that I donate too, this was the best which locations! Super friendly guys came out to help unload us and provide the tax paperwork upfront without asking. No wait and no muss, which got us in and out less than 5 minutes! read more

It seems like I find myself here every Halloween season, be it in search of a costume or on some random errand. This year was no different. + Organized and clean for the most part; clothes are sorted by gender, then item, then color, then size. + Convenient location near the mall. - Bathroom smell prevalent on my last visit. - Painfully slow checkout lines. - Overpriced. Well-worn clothes from chains like Target and Old Navy are retailing for about half of what they were new. Faded old t-shirts with no design are $2.99; at Walmart you can buy them brand new for $3. Sometimes you'll come across a great find (newish men's Levi's for $8 on my last visit), but more often than not I leave empty-handed or buying out of desperation for a costume. If I'm going to spend $10+ dollars on an item of clothing I'm probably just going to buy it new. Maybe I'd feel better about the prices if I knew exactly how much of my purchase was going directly to help people in need? read more

This Goodwill really is amazing. First of all, it's huge, which is nice (though a bit overwhelming at first). But what really makes it good is just how clean and organized it is. I've never been in a thrift store so clean. It really makes shopping a pleasure. The prices are also very reasonable, especially on furniture. Their furniture is also nice looking, which is impressive. All in all, a very good thrift store experience. read more

Okay for basics and small items and Halloween shopping. Prices jump when Halloween gets closer. The bathrooms are disgusting and I refuse to use them. The layout is odd but could be due to the amount of clothes vs housewares. read more

The biggest Goodwill selection in Madison! The staff is always super friendly and we get into conversations regularly. I have bought all kinds of things here and love to just come in and look around. I also have to give a shout-out to the staff because I left a necklace in one of the fitting rooms on one visit, and the staff found and kept it for me until I was able to come and pick it up! read more

Portage WI store: not up to par with information on purchasing Gift Cards. Clerk nor a "manager" knew nothing about GoodWill gift cards. When I eventually called their Home Office the rep I spoke with was very helpful. She diligently pursued the answer to my question regarding gift cards. And she was very patient and pleasant. Only being able to get to this particular store once a week, I stopped in to purchase card. Manager and clerk tried to process my gift card.....no transaction. Manager suggested the idea of their "system" must be down. I do not want to use Giftly. So, I don't have the card to give to someone who has a birthday this week. Obviously, there has to be more knowledge for employees to learn. More training with positive results from each trainee. read more

This is not the fault of this Goodwill in particular, but apparently if you are a Milwaukee resident, your Goodwill club card is no good here. The cards are city-specific, and you are ineligible to have a card in multiple cities...Lameness. I found that this goodwill had a nice children's section, vintage toys, etc. The jeans/pants for women are not regulated well. read more

This is one my favorites. It's huge, the staff is far to nice, it's organized, high quality merchandise, and gasp its CLEAN. When I lived in Madison I scored tons and tons of awesome things from this store, it was magical. Their furniture is second to none. Its farther away than other thrift store from UW so its harder for the kids to get to. (ie NOT PICKED OVER) read more

Anything worth buying doesn't show up in store because it is sold online. The manager is very rude, there is always only one checkout line open, and the employees are not very friendly overall and move quite slowly. They're more concerned about their social lives than they are anyone shopping in the store. read more

This place was pretty disorganized. They have paintings on different sides of the store. The housewares looked like they were just piled on top of each other and I don't know... I was just not impressed. This is one of the last stops I would make when I'm shopping at Thrift Stores. I would go to St. Vincent's, Savers, then Goodwill. I left empty handed. read more

One of my fav. Goodwill store in Madison, always find good buy. But I noticed the shoes are not tag or price the same, prices are written on the soles. So shoe prices varies. I can understand if it's a name brand and in really good shape, then they can ask for more than $4.99, but sometimes just a reg. Used shoes more than $4.99? Please keep the price low always since all items in store are all donated. read more

If you have some patience and are willing to dig (really, that's pretty much a requirement of any shopping, though) you will find awesome things at this Goodwill location. I found some pretty sweet brand names: Charlotte Russe, The Limited, and GAP. Clothes are in decent condition and everything is organized by size and color, which is super helpful (meaning I can skip the orange section completely). Big selection of shoes and women's clothing.
