This store always smells of dirty clothes. It's quite disgusting . I donate to Salvation Army instead.

Pricing needs to be reevaluated. way too high. Goodwill would sell higher volume of goods at a more appropriate price for full time residents. When I visit other area Goodwills pricing is much less then in Petoskey. People trying to make a living here are not paid high wages or salaries. read more

My friend and I went to this goodwill earlier today to donate clothes and look around. She bought an old shirt that was tagged 5.99 and we noticed the tag fell off somewhere but didn't pick it up. The male manager at the front charged us 8.47 for it and said because the tag wasn't attached he couldn't charge us for that. We came back a few hours later to contest that and the manager was again rude so we decided to drop it and leave. I wouldn't recommend this goodwill to donate or buy clothes. For a christian company with christian beliefs they weren't exactly polite. read more

So OVER PRICED - Good will has never been my favorite place to shop or donate too. I went in looking for maternity clothes for a friend on limited income - saw some pants and tops that were more expensive than Walmart Many of their items are way over priced, they sell like they are a retail store, not a thrift store and this is not a one off - every good will I have been in, some in different states, are all over priced and seem to attract extremely rude employees read more

Today I attempted to donate some items. Apparently Goodwill was closed. I drove to the back of the building where there was a large sign saying, "Donations". There were several bags of items already placed at the door, so I followed suit and put my items with the others outside. As I was ready to leave, an employee opened the door and said curtly to me, "you can't do that!" "We are not open!". I replied that I saw other items there and thought I would put mine with them. The employee then said, "I saw you put things there and you can't do that! We are not open!" I said OK, I guess I'll take them somewhere else. The employee then without acknowledgement of the fact that I was offering free merchandise, abruptly closed and locked the door. Now Folks. Think about this for a minute. A company that exists because of receiving FREE items to sell and pay their overhead and employees, just paid someone to come to the door and tell a donor that they don't want something for free and notably did so in a manner that was completely rude and out of line because I wanted to give them something for free, but was treated like I was doing something wrong because they were not open. WOW! All I can say is that I used to donate to Goodwill on a regular basis. I will be sure to never do that again read more

Very disappointed in Goodwill these days. They have updated their stores to look more like a retail shop than a thrift shop. Goodwill blasts horrible music at ear splitting decibels to attract the trendy crowd and drive out the older crowd. They no longer have a wide variety of items, and all the prices start at $3.99. They raised prices across the board and didn't expect any of us to notice. Guess what? We did. As a community, we need a thrift shop, not another retail store asking top dollar for used, donated goods. Also, what happened to selling used furniture? Why is it all cheap, new furniture? It seems Goodwill is suddenly VERY particular about what they accept so they can get top resale dollar. Hope the rest of the community wises up as well...take your money elsewhere. read more

Meh. I always feel like everything costs way too much. They have things that I know for a fact cost fifty cents new and it's $1, I know. Crazy. Gross, decrepit, smelly dresses are $6, no matter how gross, decrepit or smelly. They had a guitar that had a broken neck for $20, and I asked if they would come down at all on it, as I did not know if it was mend able. They told me they didn't know it was broken and I had to pay full price or they would just throw it out. Nothing in between. That's just silly. They also seem to have a lot of broken and chipped stuff. There are a lot of other places to go in Petoskey. Much better places than this. read more

I mostly agree with Helen B. This Goodwill is hit or miss. They have a lot of clothing for sale, but much of it wasn't thoroughly inspected for stains, etc. I live an hour away, so nothing is worse than getting home with a 4 dollar shirt to find you bought something that should have went in the trash. Their shoe selection is nothing to write home about either. They do have a 10 day return policy, though. They sell a lot of overstock items from big box stores and the price isn't much difference than what you would pay at the same big box stores. They also carry a lot of 'made in China' items from dollar stores...ie. past seasonal decor and plastic do0o-dads that will never sell. There have maybe been 2 times out of 25 where I have walked out of the store saying "Wow, this was such a successful shopping trip!" If you happen to drive by this store and thought...oh darn... we should have stopped, don't feel so bad, you didn't miss much. read more

they got a good selection here and i was able to find some shirts that my mom had aparently "gave away" without my knowings. after getting some cash after a local gig (i am OFFICIALLY a "REAL" rapper now and not an innahnet rapper like those original cybabulliez and innahnet avengahs claim I am) i was able to get my Nick Gage shirt back, my ol ecw sirth back and my fave "lisenced to thrill" shirt back from da good ol goodwill. Good people and they dont treat you like the joke of the week when you come in here. Also found a few of my old gamecube games my step dad has sold for beer money. read more

Was charged for items I didn't buy, three to be exact. Was charged a "round up" donation I did not agree to and most certainly said no to. Purchased a tank top, used condition (definitely not new) and looking over my receipt I found I was charged $9.99!! So there is $10 worth of items I didn't buy, and a $10 tank top! Once I got home I realized there was a rip in the tank top too. So altogether there are several charges I did not agree to on my receipt. We shall see how this return goes tomorrow 12/4! This Goodwill is the best thrift shop (quality-wise) I've been in. Goodwill can be hit and miss to be certain... I can't wait to head back up-north and visit this shop. read more

I agree with previous reviewers, above-average for a Goodwill

They have a good selection that isn't in too terrible condition. Believe me go to a goodwill in a college town and the one in Petoskey will look like a pier one! My biggest issue is the staff there. They don't look approachable and are not friendly at all and I felt judged by them. read more
