    Bell Canada - Hidden memo on page 2 on price increase

    As a small business user, and dedicated customer carrying the business during the location changes…read more, I am frustrated with the games Bell Canada plays on small businesses. When I signed up for their service in the early time, they would charge me 85$ +tax for a basic phone and internet service in 2002. When I relocated my business for another city they continued in this direction of charging, despite the quality of their internet being capped to up to 5mbs in the area. In the recent years, I was grateful to secure a rate at $59+tax for their phone and internet hook up in light of my substandard internet service. By the way, when I say substandard, this area will reduced speed from heavy usage during the 5 to 8pm period, often high file size uploads must wait for the 2am period and with business servers and the need for more data exchange it is truly a challenge. In the recent days I noticed my bill increase from 59$ to 70$, and that's not the end of it because the bill was pro rated for only 3 weeks of the month. The next billing cycle will reflect 74$. I called the business line and was received Camisha who said the bill increase was expressed in October 2018 statement, 4mos previously and it located in the margin of the second page in size 6 font, difficult for my book keeper to catch. There was no notice of a change of billing in the first page of the bill nor was there any email. Moreover when I called Bell Canada for small businesses in April of 2018 the year 3 of my 3 year contract asking if I needed to renew my existing contract they advised me "No you do not need to call its automatically renewed" my second question was would I still get my $59 rate, "Yes you will be able to continue getting the rate" I guess the irony and frustration was that Bell Canada Small Business lied to me on the phone and chose to conceal a billing change in size 6 text in the margin of the statement without making the fullest effort to be transparent with their billing practises. Based on this experience, as similar billing practises are done with Bell Canada Home service, I have terminated my service of 22 years with Bell at home.
