When I experienced a retinal emergency, I chose the Alexandria office simply because it was the closest RGW location to my home. Looking back, I feel incredibly fortunate that this decision placed me in Dr. Chen's care. Throughout an incredibly stressful and rapidly changing situation, Dr. Chen remained calm, compassionate, and deeply committed to making sure I received the care I needed. When unexpected scheduling changes threatened to delay my surgery, she continued advocating for my case and ultimately performed my surgery herself at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital the very next day. As a patient, there is an indescribable sense of comfort in knowing that your surgeon is personally invested in your outcome. Dr. Chen gave me that confidence from the very beginning. I also want to sincerely thank Jose and Monique. During a very difficult time, their kindness, professionalism, and genuine willingness to help made a real difference. I will always remember their support with gratitude. I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon. Because of Dr. Chen, I still have my sight, my independence, and the opportunity to continue enjoying the beauty of the world. I will always be grateful that she was my surgeon.

I like this place. The place is always clean. The TV is at the right volume to pay attention or…read moreignore it. There is plenty of space to sit and not be on top of each other and every time I am there, there are a lot of people there. The check-in and check-out process is smooth and easy (although I prefer to pay while I'm there than to get a bill). Oh... and you get your choice of cool shades! :-). I have an odd eye condition but when first diagnosed, my Dr. walked me through it thoroughly and gave me more than enough information. There's nothing they can do about it (yet) but he did suggest doing some genetic testing so if and when something comes along to address the issue, I would be notified. There's been no advancements yet but I have been notified two times that they have found more information on the genes that cause it but there just isn't a lot of work I guess because it doesn't affect enough people. This was identified 8yrs ago and every visit they check the progression and he not only tells me the status but shows me. They don't sell glasses so you don't feel the pressure to buy like you do when you go to the regular eye doctor. For this, you would normally use your medical benefits, not your vision so your copay and deductible is in play.

After treading us worse than animals she ask me no to have attitude with her.... like if she was a real nurse, So if you are someone from a foreign country, you might have experience same situation with her, hopeful it's no early in the morning & prior to a procedure like We had to! You are a team... so Drs! your nurses are as important as you... being nurse is more than get a pay check and treat ppl like you are better. This review is to rise the voice in name of my dad, I and all the ppl that are mistreated and look down due to ethnicity, color, race, sex, physicals appearance and more! #weallmatter (She is the tall and slim red hair lady you will see in the office staff photo- click / copy & paste on link if curious) https://g.co/kgs/6fTtZvN

Front desk staff has been downright awful at times, but, in my view, has improved significantly in the last few months. The technicians level of competence is another matter. There are some real superstars, including Kim and Kayle. And there are others with very obvious attitudes, who are just not very good at what they do. All in all, I would recommend this practice, as Dr. Schefkind is simply the very best.
